Kressen had to struggle to keep from laughing as Hayley began to yell about pointy hugs. To be fair though, they did hurt like heck, since Odin had come into the world giving him a pointy hug. There was still danger to both pokemon though. Odin still had his eyes closed, so he wouldn't have to try and dodge, but he would start flailing his bladed hands around as he fell, and depending on how close Ivy was she may get hit.
Even if she did or didn't get hit Odin would still fall forward and embed his hands into the soft dirt getting him stuck for a few moments and leaving him open to a counter attack. "Hurry Odin get unstuck!"

"It's quite simple, really." Blaine said, putting his sunglasses back on after a thorough cleaning. "Just avoid any further incidents like Slateport, and especially Lilycove."
"I can do that!" Mike said enthusiastically. "I can not destroy cities all day!"
You haven't done it in four years, we'd say that is pretty good for cold turkey. That isn't so bad. You're doing quite well.
"And have regular counseling sessions and a non-related sponsor that you check in with time to time to make sure that you're sticking to it."
"A shrink?" he grumbled. "I know, I know." he said before any spirits could protest. It made complete sense why they would require it. "Non-related, hm?" Mike pondered for a moment.
Not Flannery, and we shouldn't put any more stress on Winona or Kasiya. Well, we do have someone in the room who fits that description.
"You're right, we do..." the boy raised his head, flashing an overly expectant smile at the gym leader.
"Well, um." Blaine stammered, obviously taken aback. "That is to say, I-"
"Please Blaine?" Mike begged. "This way you could monitor the progression of my physiology. Not only that, but you have the coolest Gym in the entire world! It makes too much sense! Plus, you're so smart, you probably know a lot about emotional therapy and all that jazz." The gym leader sighed, drooping his shoulders.
"I...do have some experience in the field, yes."
"Whoo!" Mike said, throwing his arms into the air. A few popping sounds were heard, but he paid them no mind.
Plus, who better to help you with training your Fire Pokemon than a veteran master Gym Leader. remarked a ghost. Especially one that isn't your ex-girlfriend. another added.
"Precisely!" Mike cheered. "Everyone wins!" By everyone he was referring to him and his ghosts. "So what do ya say, Blaine? Do you think you could do a little more for me? I'll pay you back. Oh!" a thought occurred among the masses. "I could help you in the lab! My mom is an inventor, and I used to help her do all sorts of sciencey things! And plus now," he lit a small flame at the tip of his finger." I can heat up beakers!"
Blaine couldn't help but smile at the child's enthusiasm. He was almost an entirely different person from a few days before. Besides, it isn't like the gym leader's schedule was bustling with things to do. He was mostly retired from the field of genetics, and any experiments were in his free time, which there was an abundance of. Oh, what the hell. "Alright, Mike." The boy let out a third cheer.
"Yes!" the tubes rattled against the side of the bed as Mike fidgeted anxiously in his seat. The temperature gauge spiking as he became more worked up. Frowning, the boy looked back at the noisy machines. "Can I get these out? They are really starting to get annoying."
Blaine shuffled through some of the papers on a nearby table, comparing them to the seemingly random assortment of numbers flashing over the machines. "You appear to be stabilizing. Hold still." The gym leader put on thick cloth gloves with small rubber pads on the fingers. "This will feel a bit...odd." he said, grasping the side of one of the needles.
"How od-AH!" Mike yelped as Blaine took the band-aid approach, yanking the needle out quickly before the boy's brain could stress too much about it. He could feel the parts of his arm move, the sensation running up his arm, sending a nauseating wave straight to his stomach.
Tingles! Tingles up our spines! a ghost shrieked.
"Bu-but ghosts don't have spines!" the boy whined, looking down at the tiny hole where the needle once was. He shuddered. "Do the others ones! Now now now!" Complying, Blaine removed the three remaining needles and wrapped up the boy's arms with thick bandages.
"Since your powers draw from your blood, you have to be careful when you use them. Too much and it could be dangerous."
"Yeah, I noticed I got really tired after using it a lot." Mike replied, rubbing his arms.
"That isn't good." Blaine brought over a glass of water. "If you get any feelings of fatigue, stop immediately." Mike hesitantly accepted the water. "You can drink it." the gym leader reassured. "I actually suggest you keep yourself as hydrated as possible. People don't know it, but water is very good for Fire Pokemon, too. Just not when its sprayed in their face."
With shaky hands, the boy took a swig of the water. Surprisingly, it didn't burn. In fact, it felt amazing! Such a cold drink rushing down his warm body made him shiver. "Well I wasn't expecting that." Mike said. It was kind of scary how after living for 18 years in the same body and knowing exactly what to do to keep it working, that a great deal of it just changed basically overnight. "So what else do you know about my condition?" he asked, taking another sip.
------ Sasha waved her hand at Nina's question. "I'm fine. Just a bit rattled. I'm not cut out for the hero business like you guys are." she shook her head and smiled warmly. She had a lot of brave, albeit reckless friends. "Kasiya is a bit shaken up, but she will be okay. She was the one leading the charge to help Mike, after all. Almost got herself really hurt while doing so, too. Petite sotte." She ran her finger along the rim of the glass. "But she looked really happy when she was with Mike. I hadn't seen her smile that brightly in a while." When Nina asked how Mike was doing, her brow wrinkled slightly. "To be honest, I'm not even sure how to answer z'hat. I mean, he's alive and all, but now he s'hinks he is haunted and has all z'hese cuts and bruises all over him. Not to mention his weird s'hing where he can shoot fire from his body." The girl frowned as she imagined what she would look like with such a condition, thankful it wasn't her who had a run in with a mountainside.
Sasha was lost in her thought for a moment, snapping back when Whitney and Nina started to bicker. "Mes amis, z'here is no need to argue!" She let out a sigh when they began to calm down, only to have her heart practically jump out of her chest when Anna snuck up on the three of them.
"Pourquoi les fantômes toujours se faufiler?" Sasha muttered, holding a hand against her chest as she caught her breath.

Anna floated around the table a few times, giggling. It had been quite some time since she scared someone just because she wanted to-- and now she had startled three people at once! "Jeez, Anna, where've you been? Nina asked, looking to her companion." "There's an area for Pokemon as well," the ghost replied. "I figured I'd stay in there for a bit while the three of you-- or, four, I suppose?-- danced like harlots." The psychic rolled her eyes and returned her attention to Sasha. "Not cut out for the hero business?" she echoed, a small chuckle following. "Well, I must say that I'm not really cut out for it, either-- not consciously, anyway. For me, I do what I must because I have to; I'm generally a calm and reasonably pacifistic person by nature, but I'll certainly defend myself when I'm threatened, even if I'm scared. The same holds true for the instances when I see a friend of mine in danger; my love for them erases any fear that I have and my protective instinct takes over. I suppose that's both a good and bad thing, since my focus is directed to keeping those that I care for out of harm's way, and I kind of disregard my own safety... Um. I'm glad you're okay, though." She paused for a moment as Sasha spoke of Kasiya; she shifted in her seat a little. "Seems like someone likes Mike just a little bit," she commented. "That's so romantic!" Whitney exclaimed, resting her chin in her hands and smiling brightly. "Does Mike like her back? Ohh, it'd be so rough on her if he didn't! Nothing sucks quite as much as unrequited love! I mean, there've been a few guys I've liked before who didn't like me back for one reason or another, and let me tell you, there were some nights that-- ow!" Nina jabbed her sister in the side with her elbow. "Ahem. That'll do."
"...but see, I think Flareon's one of the most underrated Pokemon. I'm the only person that I know who has one, actually." Sabrina tilted her head, interested. "How well does it serve you?" she asked, taking a drink. "Magnificently. People look at him funny because he might not have as much staying power as I'd prefer, but he can hit like a truck if you underestimate him. My Delibird's underestimated a lot too, actually." The psychic choked on her drink a little; this caused her to both cough and laugh. "I--I'm sorry!" she said in between breaths. "I don't mean to make fun. It's just-- nobody uses Delibird. To be honest, that's one of the last Pokemon I'd have expected you to admit to using." Damon shrugged a little, smiling. "Don't worry, I've heard it all before. I'll be the first one to admit that my Delibird isn't the strongest Pokemon in the world, but he can certainly be a pest and he fills that role very well." Sabrina took another drink. "You know, I'd be interested in you showing those Pokemon to me sometime-- maybe in a battle?" Damon smiled again. "It would be my honor, Sabrina."
Whitney continued spying on Sabrina and Damon while Nina kept listening to Sasha as she spoke. "It's funny you should mention the fire ability; the last time I saw him, he was capable of doing that. We actually kind of had a little fight... I had heard that something had happened to him or was going to happen to him, or something, so I tracked him down and he attacked me. I protected myself from him, but... well. It was an interesting experience. He was plagued by voices then, as well... I guess it's only gotten worse now."
Of course it's only gotten worse, she thought. Metaphorically speaking, Nina knew what the inside of Mike's head looked like; to say that it was a scary place was a massive understatement. It had horrified her for the very brief time that she was exposed to it, and she couldn't imagine him having to live with it every single day.

The door closed softly behind him once he'd entered the sanctuary of his room, and Keegan sighed, looking around the sparsely decorated space with disdain. Unlike most boys his age, his walls were barren; devoid of posters or even photos. He had a calendar tacked to the wall beside his desk, dedicated to showcasing various Fire-types month by month - a Christmas gift from Flannery, naturally. After studying it for a moment or two, he realized he hadn't flipped it over to July yet. He paused to smile at the sweet picture of several young Ponyta sprinting across a grassy field and he silently pondered how Mori was doing as he flipped the page. He felt a slight lurch in his stomach at the sight of the next image: a mighty Arcanine posed proudly at the top of a rocky ledge, its mane and bushy tail being thrown about by the wind. It was impossible not to see Kasiya's Arcanine in that photo, and he sighed, looking away from it while picking a single PokeBall from his desk - Eithne's. He wasn't sure how he'd be able to raise the young Growlithe without constantly thinking of Hiro and his trainer, and as though summoned by his thoughts, the Puppy Pokemon released herself from her confinement, quickly licking her trainer's hand and giving him a good sniff before she set out to explore the room.
He watched the Fire-type as she investigated absolutely everything, but before long, Keegan had flopped down on his bed, laying back and closing his eyes, eye twitching occasionally as a small crash or thud came from the direction of Eithne. He really wasn't sure what he was supposed to do now. Sure, he had told his mother that he was behind on his training, and while there was a shred of truth to that statement, he just didn't feel like it. What was the point of it all, anyway? Sure, he could go out and win badges, but what reason did he have for doing that? He could care less about titles and trophies, and he really had no plans to even enter the Pokemon League. He laughed a bit at the very thought of him in the league, figuring that he'd likely lose in the first round. No, he'd certainly had his share of humiliation to last a lifetime.
Either way, he was home now, and he knew that meant that he wouldn't be able to hide in his room forever. His mother may have been a bit of an airhead sometimes but even she would eventually pick up on the fact that he indeed was not training, and his father would likely give him a few hours' respite before assigning him a full workload of chores to do. The redhead sighed, opening one eye as Eithne had hopped up on the foot of his bed, looking at him with wide eyes and adorable droopy ears. "C'mon," he muttered, patting the empty space beside him, and with a happy yelp, the Growlithe crawled forward on her belly before flopping down beside him. Keegan sighed, absentmindedly scratching the Puppy Pokemon behind the ears. "We might as well get some rest before Dad puts us to work." ===== A relieved sigh escaped Miharu as she watched Jasmine's Magneton succumb to sleep thanks to Lily's Sleep Powder, and even the Ivysaur appeared to be pretty pleased with herself as she trotted back toward Miharu. Jasmine's attempt to wake her sleeping Pokemon did not work, at least just yet, and Miharu knew she should capitalize on her advantage. Meanwhile, on the sideline, Leroy couldn't help but remark to himself what a nuisance the girl's Ivysaur would be in battle, as she could make quick work of them all with just one Sleep Powder. It was cruel, he knew, but he sincerely hoped that whatever Pokemon Jasmine had in reserve would take out the troublesome Grass-type.
"Now use Leech Seed, Lily," the green-haired girl commanded, taking a small step forward. She easily appeared more confident when she was in control of the battle, and she could feel the thrill of excitement building up inside. This was it, her sixth badge was on the line! The Ivysaur darted forward, her flower bud glowing slightly before she fired off several small seeds, tiny sprouts already visible, toward the sleeping Magneton.

"Ooh, that sucked," Jasper muttered as he fished out his Pokedex, running through the annoying Zubat's entry. Apparently the thing had used Supersonic and now poor Totodile was all confused, and confused good, judging by the way she was chomping down on a very vaguely Zubat-shaped rock. "Oi, Totodile! Snap out of it!" Jasper called, wincing more than a little. The little hellion on wings, meanwhile, flew in from behind, sinking its fangs into the little gator and draining away a small chunk of her health. If Jasper didn't know any better, he'd think the screeches now coming from the bat sounded like taunting laughter. "Oh, you think you're funny? Well then, let's see how funny you are crispy-fried." He snatched up Ditto's Pokeball and flung it, and the ever-cheerful blob of blue appeared, bobbing up and down happily.
Meanwhile, the Zubat had came back around for another attack, sapping a bit more health from Totodile with its Leech Life while the gator continued to drool all over the rock she was clinging to, which Jasper figured could most certainly not pass for a Water Gun even in the most hopeful of ways. "Uh, Ditto? A little help, if you would?" The Transforming Pokemon blinked a few times and looked up, mouth curving into a little 'o' shape as it realized it was supposed to be lending aid to its teammate. Ditto didn't need any further instruction, quickly morphing into its favourite form, and it was hard not to smile at the devilish grin the Ditto-chu now wore as it eyed the soon-to-be-doomed Zubat.
"I trust you know what to do next?" Jasper asked in a bored voice, deciding it best to recall Totodile before she broke off all her teeth. The copycat of a Pokemon gave a nod, sparks flaring from its cheeks. With a sharp growl, it unleashed a Thundershock, and it hit dead-on. Jasper had to admit that Ditto-chu's aim had improved by quite a bit, as when it had first started taking this form, actually hitting its target with a Thundershock was a miracle in itself. Needless to say, the Zubat got the shock of its life and fluttered weakly into the wall before hitting the ground. Jasper sighed and jammed his Pokedex, along with Totodile's Pokeball back into his pocket. "C'mon," he said, motioning for the Pika-clone to hop up onto his shoulder. "Let's get going before more of them show up." Ditto nodded and did just that, and the duo continued to make their way further into the passageway. * * * * * * * * * * Ivy quickly saw the flaw in her plan as the flailing steel type toppled forward, and the grass type scrambled to get away. She was fast all right, but not quite fast enough and one of Odin's blades managed to give her a nasty cut on her tail and she cried out, quickly getting to her feet and darting behind the now-stuck Pawniard.
"Ooh, I think you should Tackle it now," Hayley called, practically standing on tiptoe while both hands were up and flailing about. It was hard to tell who was more nervous; the Snivy or her trainer. Regardless, Ivy zipped forward, her little eyes narrowed in fierce determination as she closed in on Odin, intent on slamming the little bladed Pokemon even further into the ground.

Hoping the Snivy couldn't take much more damage Kressen tried to think up a plan to finish the battle. He'd have to get unstuck first. The tackle of course hit, but even after leering at Odin the attack wasn't all that effective, so only a grunt would issue forth from the dark/steel type. Odin kept struggling to get free, and as he did so the gouges in the dirt got deeper and wider, making it easier for him to move.
Kressen snapped his fingers at his next idea. Odin use Psycho Cut on the ground to break free!" Odin nodded and summoned the energy into his blades and sent a blast into the ground cutting deep and giving him room to roll over in an attempt to stand. Hopefully, he'd be able to since he was flailing his little bladed hands in an attempt to ward off the Snivy, so he could get up and back into the fight.

It was hard not to chuckle to herself as Professor Oak asked her about her reasons for visiting. "Well, I've been missing my Pokemon as of late, and I kind of wanted to see them all at once, if that's possible." It wasn't an total lie, as she did need to see her Pokemon as not only would it be nice for once, but it would also help to calm her and to reassure her that she could do this.
"I see, I see," Oak said, nodding slowly. "Your Pokemon aren't scheduled for time out of their Pokeballs today, but I'm sure I can make an exception." He smiled warmly at the girl and motioned for her to follow him. It took her a few moments to realize that he was leading her through the rather large house/laboratory and to the back, which opened up into a vast, expansive stretch of land that seemed to go on forever. Now, Kasiya had been here several times before, but she never could get over just how incredible this place was. Acres upon acres of natural landscapes of habitats situated for all types of Pokemon imaginable - expansive grasslands and lush forests, clean, beautiful lakes and rocky crevices and caverns. The blonde sighed and stepped forward, breathing deeply. It was hard to believe there was a small, quiet town just behind her.
She set her backpack down and ventured forward. She unhooked all five Pokeballs plus the lone Luxury Ball from her belt and threw them all skyward, and in six flashes of light, her party of Pokemon was released. Almost immediately, the more sociable of her Pokemon grouped around her, namely Sirrus (whom she'd temporarily exchanged for Rosemary), Nova, Alphonse and Pepper, of course. The Minccino quickly scrambled up onto her shoulder (after dusting it off, of course) and nuzzled her trainer's cheek. At her feet, Alphonse the Piplup glared up jealously, smacking Kasiya's leg with a flipper until she picked him up. "Oh, Al, knock it off," she sighed, cuddling the stubborn little penguin. "Pepper's younger than you are, so you're going to have to set a good example." The Water-type leered over at the Normal-type, and scoffed. Nova, meanwhile, crossed her arms over her chest and shook her head, snorting out a small plume of smoke. That Piplup certainly was full of himself.
=-=-=-=-= The battle with the copper-haired girl and her meeker partner had ended quite abruptly, thanks to several well-aimed double-teaming techniques at the hands of Jake and Jade. The day was still young and they were able to make their way through the forest with practically no trouble, though they did have to stop and make camp as the sun began to set. This night, however, was much easier on them as they had all the proper camping equipment between them and they were able to get a full night of rest. The following morning, they continued their trek through the Eterna Forest, occasionally stopping to battle a wild Pokemon or eat or drink something. By noon, however, the pair had made it safely to Eterna City, and after getting their Pokemon checked out at the Pokemon Center, went their separate ways, though they exchanged phone numbers before that.
So, Jake found himself alone, again, and just like when he'd separated from Robin, he began to feel strange. He wasn't exactly sure what it was, but he knew that something was definitely wrong. He wandered aimlessly around Eterna City, not entirely sure of what he was looking for. He did find the gym, eventually, and he stood outside of it for quite some time before he decided against going in. The sign out front had said the gym leader's name was Gardenia was a master of Grass-types, and he wasn't sure he'd get very far with only Grotle and Bibarel, as their types weren't ideal for this kind of battle. Magnemite would probably be fine, but he wanted to work with it a bit more first, and the newest addition, Sigilyph, would be a great Pokemon to challenge the gym with, though he was still young and inexperienced (despite just how wise beyond his years he seemed). Finally, Jake decided to put challenging this gym on hold until he had trained with Magnemite and Sigilyph some more, though he couldn't fight the nagging feeling that he had other Pokemon that could breeze through the Grass-type trainer's gym.
=-=-=-=-= While Karrigan thought of creative ways to force her Vulpix into practicing her evasive techniques without using her flames, Ikouma and the young Cubchoo had put some distance between their trainer and teammates. The Sneasel seemed to be looking for something while Naga tottered along after him happily, occasionally freezing clumps of grass or a flower with her Ice Punch or a quick burst of Powder Snow. The pair of Ice-types didn't venture too far away, as they could still hear their trainer's voice, and after a bit, they came to a stop. The Sneasel pointed toward a strange, skinny creature that had a bell-shaped head and leaves for arms. It seemed to be minding its own business until it spotted the pair of Ice-types. Ikouma gave a nod, and Naga jumped forward, readying her Ice Punch. The Bellsprout wanted nothing to do with that and quickly lashed out with a Vine Whip, using it to sweep the Cubchoo's legs out from under her. Naga gave a frightened cry, but got to her feet thanks to encouragement from her elder teammate. Her little eyes narrowed and she sniffled the ever-hanging drop of mucous back up into her nose, building up icy power within her.
Even from a distance Karrigan could feel a sudden rush of cold as Naga unleashed a Powder Snow attack, the icy flakes drifting up and all around them. It was then that she noticed that her Sneasel and Cubchoo were gone, and with some assistance from Aegeus (who gave her a lift), she was able to see that the two were off in the distance, confronting a Bellsprout. Or rather, Naga was confronting it while Ikouma gave instruction. How about that, the redhead thought. Ikouma's actually getting along with another Pokemon. Never thought I'd see that happen.

Bubbles of course was powerless to do anything at this point.Tangrowth readied his strange attack and sent the mystic stones flying at the Muk, who let out a light cry of discomfort, feeling the pain of the rocks smash into his goopey form, but his eyes remained closed. The powder was too strong and he couldn't fight it off. Crenu considered what to do next, swap out pokemon and save Muk for a later opponent? Pet Shop was a flying type which was good, but that Ancient Power would do serious damage to him. Terrato might be good to use, but again the grass type moves would hurt and the rock type Ancient Power wasn't all that welcome either. Newgate of course was out of the question, as were the other two weaker pokemon, and that was a shame as Korra could do nicely in this gym, though Ancient Power would hurt her a lot as well. But Bubbles was tough too, not the bulkiest pokemon in the world but he could take some hits for sure. "Wake up and retaliate." He said deciding to stay in for now. But it was no use, Bubbles remained snoring there on the battle field, he was useless right now. Grass types and their statuses, how annoying.

Jason wasn't surprised to see the Onix take the hit like a champ, Roark's Onix looked pretty tough. Especially after it's Curse, he didn't think it was possible but the towering rock snake looked like it was even bigger now. It wasn't all perfect though, It's moves looked sluggish, and Jason wondered why. Curse wasn't a move he knew yet, still a rather inexperienced trainer. Still He didn't want to loose or give Roark the edge here, and in the sense of a researcher he decided to go for it. "Um, Atlas use Curse too, like they did!" Moment of truth, could he do it? Atlas had never used Curse before, he wasn't all that sure himself. But just having watched the enemy Onix pull it off he just did his best to imitate, feeling the move from inside him, instinct taking over what his mind couldn't quite picture. Luckily the enemy Onix was slower now and by the time it smashed apart the rocks and flung them at Atlas, his body had begun to glow as he became beefier, feeling power start to course through him, letting out a roar as he felt the Curse's effects, only to be pummeled by rocks right after. The rocks stung a bit, but less that he thought it would. Curse made him feel much more sturdy, his defense was boosted as well, and he roared out feeling great! "Hee hee, that's so cool! Thanks for that Roark, we're even tougher now!"

Riza scoffed. "Yeah, a draw," she grumbled, trying not to let her disappointment show as she recalled her fainted Gardevoir. After a moment of hesitation she recalled Faustus too, as she didn't want the dragon seeing her looking so upset. There was silence between the Harding siblings for a few moments before Riza spoke up again, refusing to make eye contact with her older brother. "You were holding back," she stated flatly. Her tone had an accusatory ring to it.
Jaden opened his mouth to defend himself, but closed it, pursing his lips for a moment or two before he offered up a shrug. "Well, yeah," he said finally. "Though more with Dragonair than Flareon." His sister's icy glare intensified and he felt a chill run down his spine. "What did you expect then?" he asked, throwing his hands up.
Riza narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. "I expected for my brother to have an actual battle with me. No holds barred, no holding back, just.....battling. But you're far too soft for that." Her tone was sharp and icy as her cold glare. "How do you expect me to become stronger when you treat me like a little kid?"
A rare flicker of true anger appeared on the older Harding sibling's face, but it was quickly replaced by annoyance. "I don't think you'd learn anything from getting curb stomped," he said coolly. "But fine, if that's what you want: pick another Pokemon. Go ahead. I won't hold back a thing this time. And that's a promise." * * * * * Katie wasn't sure just how long she sat there, watching that flock of Starly, but before long she'd started to feel sleepy and she knew if she stayed any longer, she'd fall asleep and fall behind her schedule, as well. She stood up and stretched, the movements causing the flock of little birds to scatter in fright, and the orange haired girl smiled as they all darted about in varying directions before moving together as a single unit in one direction. 'I wonder if Darla will learn to get along with the others,' she thought, frowning. For the most part, her team didn't have too many problems getting along, though she was definitely purposely forgetting about the heated rivalry between Genki and Noa. After all, the Monferno and Staravia had evolved not for any reason other than to best the other, and reminding herself of it still left an embarrassed feeling.
She continued along the route, noting that after one genuine curve, it seemed fairly straightforward and she was certain she could make it to Solaceon by nightfall. She would spend tomorrow gathering information on the breeding center and scouting it out, and if she felt prepared enough by tomorrow night, then she would attempt to complete her first mission. Before hand, she'd felt Butterfree in her stomach at the thought of it, but those excited feelings of anticipation had given way to something else, a feeling that wasn't quite as welcome. She felt nervous, and not in a good way, like Genki had Mach Punched her in the gut and she was having difficulty catching her breath. She had to shake it off! She was going to be tough and respected someday, just like Mai! Her ruby eyes narrowed and she marched off down the route, still trying to squash down those uneasy feelings as she drew nearer and nearer to Solaceon Town. * * * * * As Magneton was still quite soundly asleep, there was pretty much nothing Jasmine could do to stop the Ivysaur's Leech Seed from hitting its mark and embedding themselves in the magnet's body. It didn't take long for them to begin to sap away its health and transferring it to the Ivysaur. "Magneton, wake up and use Supersonic!" Jasmine called. It was no use, though. The steel/electric-type dozed on, unaware of the fact it was slowly losing its stamina.

It was a bit surprising for Keegan when he woke up some time later, as he often had trouble falling and staying asleep to begin with. At his side, Eithne was curled up, still sound asleep, though every now and then, her legs would twitch and she'd make an odd sort of noise that was a cross between a bark and a whimper. She must be dreaming, the redhead thought, wondering what Puppy Pokemon dreamed of as he carefully got out of bed so as not to disturb the Fire-type. He dressed himself properly now, finding a comfortable-fitting pair of jeans and a slate grey t-shirt. He was in the process of finding a matching pair of socks when the Growlithe perked up suddenly, looking through bleary eyes around the room for her trainer. "Right here, girl," Keegan said softly, and the canine relaxed, hopping down and stretching. Keegan recalled her into her Great Ball, tugged on his socks and then his shoes and headed downstairs, knowing well that the best way to get back on his father's good side - assuming he even had a good side - was to get his chores done without so much as being asked.
His mother was still in the kitchen, seemingly quite giddy over a bunch of round, deep-purple eggplants, and Keegan tried his best not to make a face and went into stealth mode, hoping to avoid detection and being roped into helping. Maggie was far too busy making preparations for her upcoming meal to notice her son sneaking around behind her, turning to look only when the screen door to the kitchen banged shut behind him. Keegan had managed to snatch a couple of apples on his way out and he devoured them both in several large and messy bites, tossing the cores into the compost bin as he looked around for signs of his old man. Todd was nowhere to be seen, but the truck was still here, so that meant he was around somewhere.
Deciding it best not to seek him out unless absolutely necessary, Keegan ventured out into the yard, looking around for odd jobs that needed doing. It didn't take long for Helios to find his trainer, apparently not caring if the redhead was still upset over his misuse of Extrasensory earlier that morning, though it was the last thing on Keegan's mind as he found several sections of fence that needed repairing. "I guess this'll do," he muttered, unaware of the fact that Helios was staring at him as though his head was on fire. ===== It was reassuring to watch the Magneton continue to slumber, and even more so now that Lily was intermittently receiving health from the Steel/Electric-type, even if she didn't quite need it. Miharu wasn't sure what else she could do, so she figured she'd best go on the offensive. "Okay, Lily," the green-haired girl called out. "Seed Bomb, go!"
The Ivysaur gave a growl and lowered the front half of her body, aiming her bud so that it was pointed at the sleeping Magneton. It shimmered a bright green before it launched a large, glowing and highly explosive seed high into the air, and it quickly reached its apex before falling back down again, reminding Miharu of those old war movies her dad sometimes watched on TV back when she was younger.

Jaden's sudden change in attitude was off putting, but Riza didn't allow her resolve to waver, even if it made her feel a little nervous on the inside. "Fine," she growled, taking Diemia's poke ball from her belt. The Crawdaunt was as chipper as ever, staring blankly ahead before she raised one heavy claw and allowed it to slam down on the ground, cracking it a little. Riza knew that in a match like this, her easy-to anger water-type was a perfect choice. "Ready when you are," she said, her tone still icy.
Jaden said nothing else for now and took a deep breath. He hated to do this, but Riza was really quite stubborn, after all. She certainly had grown since that day he sent her off to the Slateport Beach Party, as ill fated as it was, but she still had a long ways to go. He didn't take long to make his choice and before long, his feisty Heracross was facing off against Riza's Crawdaunt. "Make the first move, Sis," he said calmly.
The moment that Jaden told her she could have the first attack, Riza raised her arm, and pointed at the giant beetle. "Diemia, use Bubblebeam," she said, grey eyes narrowed into slits. Immediately, the Crawdaunt raised her claws and they snapped open, quickly firing off twin jets of bubbles that sped toward the dual bug and fighting-type.
"Horn Attack," responded Jaden, standing still as a statue. Diemia's Bubblebeam was impressive, after all, but Jaden wasn't holding back now. With a grunt, Heracross stepped forward, his large horn glowing brightly as he began to slash at the oncoming streams. Droplets of water sprayed everywhere as the Heracross burst the bubbles, getting nothing but wet as he deflected Diemia's Bubblebeam perfectly. * * * * * The terrain seemed to slope and climb quite often and the trek made Katie feel a bit tired as she went along, and though she took more breaks than she probably needed (putting off getting to Solaceon sooner is more like it), she still made better progress than she wanted to. There were also not many people on the road, as she attempted to challenge everyone she passed by only to find that none of them were trainers. It was becoming quite clear that she was going to have to just suck it up and keep going.
After passing by a sign that stated that Solaceon Town wasn't much further ahead, Katie spotted a woman, probably in her early twenties, walking toward her. She was dressed in pretty pink scrubs and her reddish blonde hair was pulled back into a bun at the back of her head, She also wore a little matching cap with a little cross on it and Katie quickly realized that she must be a nurse. 'No sense in asking a nurse to battle,' the orange haired girl thought, moving to the side so that the young woman would be able to pass. She stopped, however, and looked right at Katie.
"Excuse me," she said, causing the younger girl to jump a bit. "This may seem a bit rude, but are you a Pokemon trainer?"
Katie nodded. "Yes, actually, I am. Why, would you like to battle?" she asked, trying not to get her hopes up.
"I would," the young woman answered with a smile. "I have a young Pokemon that I would like to train. She is vital to my profession, you see."
"That's perfect," Katie said, nodding again. "I have a young Pokemon, too. The name's Katie, by the way."
"Oh, that's fantastic!" the woman beamed. "My name is Thea." * * * * * "Seed Bomb?" Jasmine repeated, watching as the explosive seed was launched into the air. "Magneton, wake up!" she called again, but it was to no avail. Even as the seed sped downward and detonated right in the middle of its body, the electric and steel-type remained fast asleep. It was nice that Magneton's typing made the attack ineffective, but regardless, Miharu was steadily chipping away at it. The gym leader sighed and pushed her hair back over her shoulder. She couldn't do a thing so long as Magneton was still asleep, and she didn't want to risk switching in her secret weapon and having the exact same thing happen.

"To be honest, I'm not sure exactly what it's gotten now." Sasha said with a shrug after playfully disregarding Anna's judgement. "I mean, from the little that I saw him he seemed pretty relaxed," Mostly because he was in a slight coma. "But now he has all these ghosts and well, I mean, they can't be, can they?" Sasha groaned. "You know what? Let us not worry about him right now. He is safe, and has someone looking after him who will make sure he gets the attention he deserves." Kasiya certainly fit the bill in that regard. She gave a salute to her little lightning bolt. The best of luck to you, ma chere. You will certainly need it.
"Enough about moi!" the girl exclaimed. "What about all of you? What are your plans?" Sasha leaned forward, holding her chin in her hands expectantly.

The next few minutes consisted of Kasiya juggling two young Pokemon both pining for her attention, that is until a sharp growl caused both of the youngins to freeze in their tracks. Kasiya turned around to see her Persian padding towards them, his eyes gleaming and ears slightly flattened against his head. The feline was having none of the Water-type's nonsense. Alphonse's eyes grew wide and he promptly tried to hide behind Pepper's fluffy tail, but the Minccino was too occupied with something else to notice. The chinchilla Pokemon hopped down and rushed over to Seto, fearlessly leaping onto his back where she furiously began to sweep away at something that not even Kasiya could see. Seto, despite his normal stoic and calm demeanor, couldn't help but look over his shoulder at the tiny Pokemon. Pepper must have been doing something right because the Normal-type carefully lied down on the ground, purring quite loudly. "Okay then," the blonde girl said, still cradling her Piplup as they were very soon joined by the rest of her Pokemon, though it wasn't hard for Kasiya to notice that two very important faces were missing. Tears were already welling up in her eyes and she sat down on the ground, still holding Al to her chest. Nova had parked herself beside her trainer, doing her best to look tough despite the fact she was clearly outclassed by many of the others, namely Hiro, who was stationed at her other side, valiant and attentive as usual. He didn't even seem to care that Fang was perched on his back, something that often resulted with the Crobat being barbecued. Even the little Shinx she'd acquired only a few short hours ago sat patiently nearby, her yellow eyes wide and trusting.
"Guys, I know that some of you don't know each other very well yet, but there's something that we need to do." The girl wiped her eyes, looking up at the familiar faces of the Pokemon she'd grown to love and trust since her journey's beginning and from then on. As she gazed at each creature, her mind flashed with images of how she had met them, and she couldn't help but smile. Each of them had their own story, some fantastic and scary and some quite normal, simple, even, but stories they were. She had assembled quite the crew, there was no mistaking that, and she sighed, absentmindedly stroking Alphonse's head. "As most of you know, we're missing a very important member of our team." She paused, and looked over towards the lake where she was certain Ariel was hiding. "Actually, right now, we're missing two members, but I know the second one can hear me," she added, increasing the volume of her voice so that the Vaporeon would hear her. "I know it's been both weird and hard without Shocker, and some days it's downright depressing, but there's one and only one reason why I have come here today."
She set the Piplup on the ground and stood up, placing a hand on Hiro's broad shoulder. "I've had enough of just sitting around and crying about everything all the time. I'm tired of being sad, and I'm tired of being underestimated and feeling helpless, because I'm not! I'm going to get her back. And while I plan to do this all on my own, without the help of my friends, I know for a fact that I can't do it without you guys - my Pokemon. Yes, all of you." There was a slight murmur as her Pokemon looked around among each other, seemingly shocked by their trainer's announcement. "Unfortunately, however, as much as I'd love to, I can't bring you all with me. The last thing I need is to have my trainer's license revoked because I broke one of the primary rules, but that doesn't mean that those of you that don't come with me aren't still needed."
She took a deep breath and looked over at Ariados, who was off by herself, and smiled a bit. "I need those of you that stay here to do everything in your power to keep this place safe. As most of you know, Team Rocket has Shocker, and I need you guys to be at the ready in case they try something here. I'd never forgive myself if Team Rocket attacked this wonderful place, because of me. So, no one is going to be left out in this mission." She paused again, and looked over in the direction she was sure Ariel was. "That is, unless some of you don't want to be included." Her words were followed by silence, and then, just like in the movies, the Pokemon parted, opening a clear path. At the end of said path, Ariel stood still, her fin-like tail swaying back and forth ever so slightly.
=-=-=-=-= One of the many reasons why Erika loved Grass-type Pokemon was because their affinity for status-inducing attacks and techniques made them dangerous to those who were ill-equipped to defend against or counter them. Many opponents became flustered when their Pokemon were under the effects of Sleep Powder, but like before, Crenu remained calm, a trait Erika admired in a trainer. There was nothing else for her to do but attack, so she did just that. "Ancientpower, again," she called, and Tangrowth launched another barrage of glowing stones at the sleeping Muk. Unfortunately, Ancientpower's occasional effect of raising all of its user's stats had yet to kick in, but the battle was still young.

Using test tubes and plenty of scientific analogies, Blaine continued to explain Mike's current condition. "There are still many variables and unknowns, but for the most part, you function very similarly, and share certain aspects of a Fire-type Pokemon. That isn't to say you are one." he chuckled. "But it serves as the most accurate baseline. Flames appear to have no visible negative effect on, you, and at times can even have positive benefits." Blaine demonstrated this by dripping a small amount of water on the boy's arm, which stung and reddened his skin. He then held the afflicted area over a candle, the skin returning to his usual pigment. "This happens because your epidermis reacts to concentrated doses of water. I would say to avoid walking around when it rains."
"I remember something like this, actually." Mike said. "I tried to take a shower at your lab and something like this happened. I passed out from the pain and Napalm somehow figured out that cooking me like a hot dog would help. Speaking of, how am I going to get clean if I can't shower? I am pretty sure using alcohol-based cleaners will turn me into a human Molotov cocktail."
"There are plenty of cleaners that have very low concentrations of water. And if all else fails, baking soda and a little bit of water works wonders. Also, you could try a steam bath. The composition of the steam might be such that it won't react harshly to your skin." Blaine shrugged. "Unfortunately, for now it is the experimental stage. Your condition is unique, so we will have to just try to see what works."
You're starting to sound like some type of freak-accident superhero. a ghost said, hissing with laughter.
Mike chuckled. "You're right. It certainly is starting to seem like that."
"Seem like what?" the gym leader asked.
"They say it's making me sound like a superhero with all these new powers."
"They?" Blaine looked around. Seeing nothing he cleared his throat. "Now this isn't to say you should go blindly rushing into burning buildings or the like. You still need to breathe, and fire has a wonderful habit of stealing oxygen. And this doesn't render you immune to any sort of explosives. Flames are the least damaging part of any sort of blast, so I would prefer if the term 'superhero' wasn't used to describe what you've become. You need to be careful how you use this, and it would be best if you didn't at all until we know all the facts."
"I know." Mike said, crossing his arms. "To be honest, I've done enough hero-work for quite a long time. His phone weakly buzzed from inside his bag. "Hm?" Mike leaned over the side of the bed and picked up the once proud scrap of plastic and pulled out his phone.
A text? Who is it from?
"Kasiya." he said quietly. Flipping open his now scratched up PokeNav. Thankfully, the screen inside was in pretty good shape. He took a look at the message.
I hope you're feeling better, or sleeping, or both! I'm going to Viridian City for some training. Don't you worry about me. Just focus on feeling better, okay? Love, Kasiya.
Viridian City? What is in there for training? pondered a phantom, scratching a sharp finger against its head. Small tufts of black smoke wafted from it as it did. Nothing, really. added another. But it does have the gym, owned by one Giovanni. And who is it that has current possession of her Raichu? Ohh...
A smile crept up on the boy's face as the ghosts came to the same realization as he did. "Oh, Kasiya." he said with a sigh. "It's like you think I don't know you." It was precious. Mike hummed a little laugh. She thought she could do something stupid and dangerous without her stupid and dangerous backup? No way was he letting his girlfriend rush into a Rocket base without help.
Viridian is a small ways away, but we could make it there in a few hours. Mike nodded to the ghost. Now we just need to get out of here. Without explosions we must add. "I know I know!" Mike said. Blaine turned to the boy with a raised eyebrow. "So," he said with an awkward cough. "Am I back to being a registered trainer?"
"That's correct." replied the gym leader. "Did the Pokedex I gave you survive your antics?"
"Seems so!" Mike said, producing said device. Like the Nav, it had some scrapes, but was still functional. "Awesome." He closed both of them and stuffed them back into his 'bag'. "Well. That nap was pretty nice, but it's time for me to get going now."
"You what?"

A repaired fence, mowed lawn, several oiled gates and a good sweeping of the egg incubation area later, Keegan had almost run out of chores to do until his mother had offhandedly mentioned that there was a leak in the roof of the garage that needed repairing. The redhead was now perched atop said roof, hammering away and ignoring the harsh sunlight that beat down on him, as it was much more difficult to ignore the Ninetales that had virtually stalked him through the entire mid-morning and afternoon. He hadn't the slightest idea why Helios was behaving that way, but he wasn't going to question it, either, instead focusing on finishing this job so he could find something else to do. Even if he'd never openly admitted it before, he did like working odd jobs like this, as it kept his mind off other things, and distractions were exactly what he needed right now.
He was nearly finished repairing the leak, and thinking about how nice it would be to have a cold iced tea for a break when he heard a voice shout at him from the ground. "Hey, boy! Just what in the blazes do you think you're doing up there?!" It was his father, and that, along with the fact he'd just been startled out of his wits made for a very bad combination, and it took only a moment or so for Keegan to realize he was falling.
Off the roof.
Splendid.
The redhead had only enough time to close his eyes and think about what a very bad few days he was having before he suddenly felt himself slowing down. What's this? he thought, more irritated than relieved. I can't even fall off a ******** roof without screwing it up? He opened his eyes, ready to scream at the heavens until he saw that his body was covered in a curious blue light, and he calmed himself, landing softly on his feet thanks to the ever-vigilant Helios and his Extrasensory. "Oh, now you're just showing off," he grumbled, still silently fuming. ===== I wonder how much more it can take, Miharu thought, knowing that she had only a precious few turns before the Sleep Powder would wear off and she wasn't so sure she'd be able to land another one. Lily's attacks, while generally pretty strong, were useless against the Steel/Electric-type, so she decided to recall her, sighing deeply as she once again released Tingle onto the field, the confusion having worn off the moment the Metang was returned to its PokeBall.
"Take it out, Tingle!" the green-haired girl called. "Slam it with a Brick Break!" The Metang blinked a few times, setting its sights on the Magneton. It vaguely recalled the rounds prior to when it had become confused, but they were in the past now. The Psychic/Steel-type made an ominous droning sound as it sped toward the Magneton, both claws raised high and ready to smash them into its sleeping foe.
