"Ok, thanks" Drago said to the professor and stared towards the sphinx, his mind racing, trying to think of a riddle of his own.

The sphinx had given an answer to the last one and no one else was speaking up, so Herzog decided now would be as good a time as any to recite his own riddle. "My image devine, my words obscure, My wrath finite, my body impure. What am I?"

Devon entered the forest, staying by the tree as he started jot down notes while catching his breath. "Sphinxes... if only I'd get here a little earlier." he sighed.

 Tûrwen turned upon the boy that had spoken and hissed viciously. 'You must formally challenge me before speaking with me fool!' she spat, her eyes seeming to glow with rage. Kalle stepped between the Sphinx and Herzog, breaking Tûrwen's eye contact with him and raising a calm hand. 'Van nîn mellon,' she said in a hushed voice, looking directly at the Sphinx. Her eyes flickered between Kalle and the boy behind her, before she gave a low growl and returned her attention to Ava with a shake of her head. Kalle turned and faced Herzog. 'Please, if you wish to be challenged by the Sphinx you may after Ava is finished,' she said quietly.

Amelia Frances Joan
Amelia started to pant. The boy was not only stupid but suicidal! She felt the anger inside the sphinx. Its pride barely harmed, but still she felt its desire to sink its claws into the tender flesh of new Ravenclaw. Clutching her tiny hands into fists, she dug her chewed nails into her palm. Tûrwen' calmed quickly, something Amelia didn't have. As the decrees kept coming she was starting to feel lost. Shaking her head to try and clear it, she glanced about, wondering if Kalle would notice her disappearance. Her favorite class was starting to seem torturous.

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth YearOlli nodded slowly at Ammy. She had figured the decrees would upset her, especially when it came down to Half-bloods versus Pure-bloods. As the Ravenclaw kid, Herzog, asked the Sphinx a riddle, her mouth formed a perfect "o". He could have been killed! She glanced down to avoid being rude and staring at him in shock when she noticed Amelia's tiny hands clenched into tight fists. "You wanna go...?" She could almost feel waves of fury radiating out from her.

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures { I apologize for how slowly the class is currently moving, and I realize you are all busy but if Ava does not reply in the next few days I will have to move on. }

Aludra Yvette... The boy was very foolish to approach the sphinx like that. He could have gotten killed, or worse. Even a young child with no experience of magical creature would have known better then to approach one without first asking permission. "I swear, some of these kids get more reckless and stupid every day." Aludra mumbled to herself. In her opinion if the boy was stupid enough to walk up to the sphinx, let him get eaten. After all it was only natural selection taking its course. ...7th Year Slytherin

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures Kalle nodded at Ava and Caiden before turning and bowing to Tûrwen. 'Manor,' she said in a hushed voice. Tûrwen stood and nodded toward the three students, her eyes narrowed slightly at Ava. It was the first time in her life she had been challenged and lost. With one final glance at the young Slytherin, she turned and stepped slowly into the shadow of the forest.
Kalle smiled and glanced at each student. 'Manor to you all as well. I look forward to seeing you next year,' she said in a hushed voice before walking into the forest after the Sphinx.
{ I apologize for the short notice, but I have some real life issues to deal with and I will be away from Gaia for a while. I will be returning on the first of July, but class has now been concluded. }

Herzog smoothed his robe down. He could feel incredulous eyes on him from all directions. It was as if he'd leaped screaming directly for the sphinx. He'd stood up and spoken. He hand't even stepped forward. Nevertheless, he was overall undisturbed. He was more concerned with the insolence he'd soon get from his classmates than he was of the irritated monster that could devour him faster than thought. He was confident in the competence of his teacher's abilities and her intent to protect him. He rolled his eyes. "Very well then. Seeing as Ava hasn't spoken up for some time, I formally challenge you, Sphinx, to a battle of wit and poetry. Will you solve my riddle?"

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures As she turned to leave, Herzog spoke up to the Sphinx. She turned quickly to him. 'You must challenge her formally and properly. You must repeat after me. Im il umartempla lle. I am Herzog, and I challenge you to a game of riddles.' She gazed at him for a moment ere she called to Tûrwen to return. As the Sphinx strode back, Kalle wondered if she would be able to answer his riddle.

Herzog's hand clenched into a fist in frustration. Why are old traditions always so complex? He was confident in the worth of his riddle and only one test would satisfy his need to know. His jaw ticked just before he inhaled, prepared to get this right entirely. "Im il umartempla lle, I am Herzog, and I challenge you to a game of riddles."
((Sorry for over running people, I wasn't aware there were people still waiting. I'd noticed the thread had gone quiet for a while, so I posted my riddle. With apparently negative side effects.))

Meiko noticed Devon had arrived and gave him a silent smile as she continued to watch the sphinx and write down some important facts about it. She noticed an unfamiliar boy challenge the sphinx and raised an eyebrow as she thought. "Well, that guy's certainly pumped up..." (( My cousin's char. Devon might become silent for a while like me, since classes had started here, and it's a drag... lol :3 ))

Professor Kalle Ithilwen | Vice-Captain | Care Of Magical Creatures At the sound of a challenge, Tûrwen trotted up beside Kalle and nodded at the boy to continue. She was eager to hear this riddle.
{ It is quite alright, I appreciate you trying to keep the classroom lively. Also, I have written up the test on Sphinxes, so once this riddle exchange has been completed, I will be posting it on the first page of the classroom. Be sure to write it and check up on your mark, also located on the first page. }
