Reaper hesitated a moment, then pulled out the copy of the list and showed it to Cat. "You and the younger Batman are the only ones who have appeared again." he replied, then tried to draw his words carefully again. "That wasn't...that wasn't Spider-Man. He's still missing. I didn't want to say anything in front of him, or let him know that I knew he wasn't the real one."

Cat blinked, then looked up at Reaper, clearly uncomprehending. "...What?" There was another beat. "Real what? Real Spider? How can... How can he be missing; that was him! I may not be Miss Mary Plain, but I think I'd know..." She trailed off, the building anger draining from her face along with all color. "...He didn't... know who you were..." she said slowly. The expression on her face suddenly looked mildly ill, and she bit her lip hard enough to draw a little blood. So... then... if that hadn't been her Spider, then it had been...

Just like that, all the color rushed back into her face, touches of hectic pink coloring her cheeks as her eyes flashed with absolute rage. "SON OF A ****ING ********ING B**CH!" she snarled, then spun and started back towards the front door, murderous intent in every line of her body. He wanted her to carry his future kids, huh? Well, she'd rip two very specific pieces of his body right off and hold onto them just long enough to FEED THEM TO HIM.

What really, really pissed her off was how scared she was underneath all of her fury, how completely vulnerable she felt. It would have worked. Not right away, but it would have worked.

Reaper became visibly uncomfortable when she exploded and stormed towards the door. Did he not say something right? He tried to go about it as easily as he could.

Noticing how close she was to the doorway now, he slipped into a shadow and reappeared in front of the doorway to block her from leaving.
"Easy. I still have a duplicate with him to keep an eye on him." he said as calmly as he could. "Trust me, I'd let you go rip him to shreds if I thought it was safe. But we still have no idea what happened to everyone."

Honestly, he really didn't want to be between her and the door right now.

From the expression on her face, it was pretty clear that she wasn't hearing most of what he was saying. She was going to kill this demon in the goriest way she could think of; she didn't care about the disappearing people, and she didn't care about Strange. She didn't even REALLY care where she'd gone for all that time. Not right then. "I don't give a ****," she spat, "MOVE." Her eyes looked even more green than usual, and her pupils were slits in the bright, artificial light of the lamps.

Reaper didn't budge from the doorway. He really, really didn't want to be in this position. But that didn't mean that he was afraid of her. With everything he's endured in his life, this wasn't anything for him to be afraid about.

"Not right now." he replied, still trying to maintain a calm voice. "He said he wanted to see you again later, right? Wait until you have a clear head and a bit of back up. Then you can have the upperhand. I meant it when I said I know a few other people who can help you. I'll make sure they let you be the one to deal with him if you want." He wasn't sure if she was really hearing him or not, but he was going to try. He also knew what happened when you lost control...if that scene in the City was any evidence. If she did get past him then...suppose he'd have no other choice than to keep an eye on her. Wasn't much he could do with anger like this.
He could do a LOT to stop her of course. But...he could sympathise with this kind of anger. This need to rip someone apart.

It was either stop or plow through him at that point, so she stopped. She wasn't happy about it, though. Now that she wasn't in motion, she had time to think, both about what he was saying and about could have--would have--happened. Her entire body seemed to buzz with fear and anger; if she'd actually been a cat, every hair would have been standing on end.

What he was saying made sense. It was logical. She didn't want to listen to reason, but that ship had sailed; she was already listening. That, however, left her standing in a living room with so much animal rage inside of her that she thought she would explode.

With a sharp, sudden motion, she crossed her arms over her stomach, as though doing so would hold in all of her violent impulses, and did her best to slow down her breathing and suppress all of the nasty mental images of what could have happened... and what had happened. Breathe, Felica. Just breathe. In... and out. In... and out.

Reaper stood there and watched her a moment, visibly becoming uncomfortable again. After a second's hesitation he spoke again. "Would it...would it help to just start breaking things? I know of an area where you could probably do so and not have to worry about him or destroying something with some ridiculous power."
Breaking things usually worked for him anyway. It was bodies that he usually broke of course. Creating blood splatters across the room. But...objects should work just as well.

Cat just shook her head tersely, her breathing getting back to normal, now, as she pushed back the damaged, broken parts of her with skill born of long, long practice. The next moment she pursed her lips and focused on him again. A slight, rather stained, but genuine little smile flashed across her face. "Thank you. That would have been stupid," she said. Understatement of the year; she'd been about to storm out and try to punch out a Demon Lord single-handedly. She hadn't been like that in... forever. Very specific buttons had to be pressed before she became anything more than a playfully devious opportunist.

She opened her mouth as though she was about to say something else, then sighed, shook her head, and closed it with an uncomfortable little shrug. "Thank you," she repeated finally and, it seemed to her, a little lamely. She paused uncertainly, her hands remaining crossed tightly over her abdomen in a strangely vulnerable way, as if she was cold. The more she calmed down, the more she missed the simple, uncomplicated fire of that rage... and why was she embarrassed? Of all the things to be feeling!

With that in mind, she finally forced her hands to return to her sides and met Reaper's eyes again. "So... I'm guessing that Azazel isn't exactly first priority," she began, her tone much closer to how it was normally, "How are we trying to fix this..." She gestured vaguely. "Disappearing... thing?"

Reaper sighed and glanced away a moment. He wasn't used to dealing with this kind of emotional...stuff. So he decided to just focus on the question. Honestly though...he had no idea what to do himself.

"I'm really not sure about that." he replied, looking back at her. "The note is really the only thing we have to go on. I went out looking for people and you were the only one on the list that I actually came across. I was told that the younger Batman is the only other one here so far. I found the younger Spider-Man, and he thought that being out and doing hero stuff was more important at the moment. Makes sense....not a whole lot of other people to play the part now. I've found a few other heroes and brought them back here." he said, then paused a moment. "There's at least one powerful magic user here, though I'm not sure how much she'll be able to do at the moment. The other magic user that I know of is...well...she has a rather convenient no involvement policy."

A very small, very affectionate smile quirked the corners of her lips at the mention of the younger spider's reaction to this whole mess, but other than that, she kept her expression carefully neutral. When he was done explaining, she nodded briskly. "Alright. I'm not sure what all I can do, but I'm going to go... calm down... more, and then I'll come back out and talk to your magic user. Maybe she can dig up something from my memory magically that I can't access." Strange had done similar things, she knew, though not to her.

She took another deep breath, then expelled it quickly and nodded again. Yeah. That was good. If she didn't stay busy, she still wasn't sure that she wouldn't storm out the door in a few minutes; this kind of emotional stuff tended to come in waves. That decided, she started past him to go find some kind of quiet place in the enormous house.

However, when she was right beside him, she paused and brushed his shoulder lightly with her fingertips, the motion distracted but sincere. "Thank you again, and not just for stopping me. This isn't your job, and I know that you probably don't want to be doing it." SHE certainly wouldn't have wanted to, if their positions had been reversed. On a whim, she leaned up and forward to kiss him lightly on the cheek. It was meant to be similar to the one she'd given him earlier: quick and friendly and completely without significant meaning. For the most part, it was. It did, however, last a little bit longer than the last one-- less of a peck and more of an actual kiss, albeit on the cheek.

The next moment, though, she was past him and sauntering past him into one of the other rooms and closing the door softly behind her.

[Enter Azazel from Surrounding Area of New York.]

With a puff of brimstone and smoke, Azazel appeared on the roof of the building across the street and three doors down from the Sanctum. Carefully masking his signature and disguising himself as a pigeon, he settled in to wait. Observation led to information, and knowledge was the greatest power.

For the second time, Reaper simply stood there staring after receiving a kiss on the cheek. His pose remained relatively unchanged. His expression, however, was once again a small illustration of shock. His mouth and eyes were opened just a bit wider, and there was a noticeable warmer tone to his face.
Thankfully, Cat had left him so he didn't feel the need to try and hide immediately.

Not used to this kind of thing. At all. Not, not, not, not, not.
At least there was a somewhat more understandable reason for the kiss. At least for him. Though...perhaps it would be beneficial to make more of an effort to be somewhat good. Not change completely, mind you. But, make an effort.

Shaking his head, he tried to draw his features back into their usual state and sighed. After a second, he opened his eyes and stared at the ground. He could feel a heartbeat again. There wasn't supposed to be one. At all. Dammit...he was becoming more human the more he kept this crap up, wasn't he? That wasn't really a good thing. Not for him. Not after he harassed Supergirl so much.

Sighing once more, he tried to 'calm down' himself and moved over towards a couch. Just sit down for a bit. Then maybe go in and talk to everyone again. And then...ergh.

Syd puzzled over that development -- this being blocked her detections. That would take at least an elder evil to be capible to do that. It would also explain why Strange was caught off guard.

The red-clad archmage pulled out her grimoire to look up any references to this being through the centuries...
