Until you at least make sacrifices like Kashrit, you can't go around flaunting a kippah,
You told yourself that? I Agree.
You told yourself that? I Disagree.

Thank you. Being a bad Jew is something, I guess.

You'll always be more Jewish than me, anyway, because I juggle far too many beliefs to be fully Jewish, Judaism just happens to be the most prominent.
(Judaism, Zen, and Discordianism for the lulz...)

Oh, I'm a bit of a slime ball of a human being too, lol.
If you've ever seen that one Family Guy where there's that clip outside the normal plot of the show and Peter is talking to this one guy in and office of an old job.
He asks the guy to do something for him and the guy either respond with a, "Go ******** yourself" or "I'm going to cut your a**" or something like that...

Peter walks off and asks another guy what the other guy's problem was and the new guy says, "That guy might be a jackass but he just donated his entire month's salary to charity... to kids with cancer."
Then Peter turns around and looks at the guy angrily scribbling at his desk, and then he smiles and nods at the guy.

Yeah, that's pretty much me.

But, still, I feel as though I call myself a Jew when I don't deserve the title. I don't work at all as hard to be a devoted Chosen Person as other Jews. Are they the real Jews? I'm too assimilated.

Why does being Jewish mean you have to 'work' at being a Chosen Person? Even the bible (from my limited understanding) tells us to be "a light to the goyim", that is, to be better people so that we may be a good example to everyone else. If you work on being a good person, then you're also working on being a good Jew.

But I don't; I am a bad person. I enjoy the pain of others. I enjoy playing the villain and actually practice my mind games on my friends to see if they are cruel enough. I love mind games; the perfect mix of psychology and cruelty. Manipulating the masses is a talent I am particualrly proud of.

I only rarely try to be good when it suits me for the world to come or for less guilt by scrupulosity.

Er, if simple manipulation of the masses made you a bad person all journalists and all politicians would be condemned to hell automatically. It all depends how you use your talents - are you actually harming anyone? Enjoying others' pain does sound strange, I admit. But why do you?

You sound too self deprecating for me to believe you try to be good only very rarely when it suits you, sorry.

If it really bothers you, then change. I mean, this whole self-questioning thing is not worth it if you can just change into someone you like better.

It's called individualism.
You help others when you know it'll benefit you as an individual.

I'm individualistic but I'm not cruel.

I like to make my friends cry. I make tham feel like bad people by twisting their words so tactfully that even they believe me when I bring them to fits of tears at their supposedly being satists.

Tghis is why I'm afraid of people killing themselves because of me.

Er, satists? Is that like people who are sated? razz

I don't think it makes you a worse Jew, anyhow. There are bad Jews out there and they can be exceptionally devout. Just, y'know, work on it, I guess. Improvement is the name of the game.

@Babel: Oh cool! Another name change! I think Oriental religions (typically Buddhism and Hinduism) go well with Judaism anyway.
@Lummany: 1. You're a Jew. Be happy about it. That's on a spiritual level. On a personal level, it's your choices that harm others. You can just as easily stop. I've changed myself for others before, or at least I like to think I have.
@L eondra: Thanks for bringing a can of worms back up. xd

Sorry! I didn't realize. (And even if I had, I'd have been just as likely to open it...) I've always solved most of my problems by thinking about them more...

So, anyway, this week's parsha includes the skin disease Tzaraat which makes those who act against G-d ritually impure. Thjose who have sinned before G-d, especially those who are arrogant get it and have to live far away.

I once heard that Tzaraat could actually be Psoriasis.

I am inredibly and unrepentantly arrogant and I have Psoriasis. O.o
