Skaeryll Y'know what'd be cool? A metroidesque Zelda game. That would depend on how you did it though, wouldn't it?

Definitely. And it's possible too because Zelda and Link are always reincarnations of their past lives which means they can come into a sci-fi like era.

I can't see it. Steampunk, maybe, but in a downright futuristic setting, the Master Sword would be more or less obsolete if it didn't shoot lasers or something.
EDIT: And you already do a fair bit of backtracking and exploring in the Zelda series, once you get into the sidequests. I mean, Biggoron's Sword?
