Raven_Darkholme Rex Mason American version is being made. Wonder how that will go over.
No. nonononononono.Rumor has it that it'll be college students, and here's why that doesn't work: The Japanese story uses 14 and 15 year olds. You have the crushing of childhood and the horror of what these kids do to each other. That would be absent using older people. More important, college student have know each other maybe a couple of years. These school children in the original story grew up together, they had bonded with each other. That makes any betrayal more powerful. "But... I'm you're friend..." Bang.

Jaeger_Ayers Elijah_Snow Jaeger_Ayers Elijah_Snow I usually go with the Sky vs. Nameless fight myself ... but yeah, that scene was very, very, very impressive indeed. I personally am a fan of two of the fights in Fist of Legend. The one where Jet Li fights for control of the school and refuses to use the techniques and switches to western boxing, and when he and the Japanese uncle fight blindfolded. ... ... *adds Fist of Legend to long list of movies to see*
I finally got to see Unforgiven last night. Well worth the wait.Gotta love Eastwood, and Freeman is always great. Clint Eastwood directing = Win Figured one of the best Western movies would be done by him. 3nodding

Raven_Darkholme Jaeger_Ayers Inque Clay Battle Royale's concept scares the living, God-fearing crap out of me.
That said, what little I've actually seen of the second (maybe third?) one I liked. I like the concept on the level of these kids are faced with an utterly hopeless situation and some of them still find it in them to hope and trust. I like the movie for the blistering social commentary. Also the no holds barred brutality and why it was brutal. Fukasaku was a virtuoso. The situations were wonderful. Life and death hinged on minor incidents that happened years beforehand, flips of a coin, etc.
And the sheer collection of selected weapons was genius; .44 Magnums and sub-machine guns interspersed with boomerangs and dinner forks? Awesome.
Hell, the Lighthouse scene was wonderfully brutal.

The one complaint I did have about Battle Royale was the "Mystical Warrior" scene. For me, it was the only pointless death in the whole thing. It was almost like Koushun Takami forgot, and then all of a sudden realized he was at the end and had an extra character.
I would have like it a bit better if they had shown her once or twice earlier on her so-called mission.

Virgil Hawkins It'll also star Paul Walker. domokun I'd love to see all the current pop-tartlets and starlets in it though... if only for the lighthouse.
I mean come on... Amanda Bynes spewing up blood all over Lindsay Lohan while Ashlee Simpson gets a clip to the chest by Hilary Duff?
WIN.
