Sigil Warden YummyBiscuits I'm making a new character archetype. The people who joined v-7 might know what I'm talking about. Any one wanna offer some help? Sorry that bombed... there wasn't really very much chemistry between the different members. As an aside, there would have been fanservice if I had been moved on to the next round. I figure this crowd would know more about this than I do.
I am wanting to pick up a fighting game, but I don't know where to start.
The only fighting games we own are Mortal Kombat for 360, MvC for 360, and a few Street fighters for SNES. Is Street Fighter IV any good?

Of your options SF4 is the only one I'd play, primarily because I just don't like Marvel.
But if you're interested in doing stuff like money matches with people then I always see more guys playing Marvel.

Awesome, I seen 4 for cheap on Amazon so I will grab it. I am a casual scrub when it comes to fighting games so I will just get butthurt at the CPU and throw my controller like a baby.

I think 4 is a pretty good place to learn the core basics of fighters. It's a very tight system and things like execution actually really matter, so you should get good at it.
It's always felt like the games in Marvel are way too short and you can't learn as much, and for the most part when I play people who are good at Marvel in most other fighters like SF or even the silly indie ones I usually beat them pretty hard.
Oh how I wish BB was more like GG. I miss GG so much.

The SNES SFs I am pretty boss at and Samurai Showdown I can hold my own. Mortal Kombat for the 360 I tried online and was promptly whipped like a b***h.
Buddy of mine won't shut up about Blaz Blue I think it is called. Looked way to anime for me.
MvC was okay, just really hard to get into.
I am sure after a few days of playing I will get the hang of 4.

Unless she is a he...he still doesn't know anything. Don't just go and buy a fighting game right now cause you have choose which one you will like. This requires playtesting. Go watch videos of the following fighters and see which one you'll be tailored to the most: Street Fighter 4 ARCADE EDITION (don't forget arcade, this is the latest edition). King of Fighters 13 Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Street Fighter x Tekken (despite the bad gameplay, it's fun as a party game) Soul Calibur 5 (I strongly suggest this cause I know you would like this game. You can even make Doji in it! Then we can fight online.) Darkstalkers (They just released this on xbox arcade. if you get it, I will, and we can play together. One of the best games ever. I'll let Fox tell you more if he can come up with suggestions.) Guilty Gear (Just came out on arcade. Another fun online game we cna play together in. Better than Blazbiru)

Blazblu IS an anime fighter.
Some people can stomach that-- I can't.
Mortal Kombat 9 was built for the competitive/tournament scene. You're not gonna have any fun unless you learn to play decently (invest some srs time).
SF4 is more casual. You can pick that one up and then if you wanna get serious, go for it.
Marvel is a ********. Things 'happen', so you better be ready for unexplainable s**t if you wanna play marvel.

I forgot, most people play video games for fun. I have to remember that I'm the only person in the world who thinks competitive play is actually fun.
If you're looking for fun fighting games then try any of the indie fighting games. They're generally more fun because of their off-color humor.

I enjoy being competitive, this is just something to help pass the time. Hell if I get good enough and play against people enough to warrant taking it up as a full time hobby then sweet action, another thing to do.

I think competitive play is fun, but I stay away from it..
cause of SALT
Oh, dat salt.
Will ruin your day, make you do and say things you'll later regret.
That why I dont bother playing ranked in league, or playing with people i know irl.
People get incredibly butthurt, and I don't wanna have to beef with someone irl cause I have a short fuse.
I rather sit and watch tournaments-- watch people play.
