Oh it's incredibly doable. In my case, however, a lot of what made the movie so impressive was the sounds and the music that flowed with the visuals.

I've had to suppress rage over people's reactions to the lake fight scene. I have to keep telling myself that not everyone's going to get it. (which is bothersome anyway)
I tried explaining my view of it to my buddies and they looked at me like I'm nuts. Just for my own sanity, what did you get from the symbolism of the lake fight?

The character's themselves give the viewer clues. Point one is that it was another fight "taking place in the fighters' minds" Point two is that it was a fight that neither one wanted to do, so they were just "going through the motions" (which is why very rarely their swords ever touched) Point three has to do with the serenity of the place they were fighting - a motionless, peaceful lake that they were not trying to disturb. (the dipping the swords into the lake to get back into the air, very calm and focused) The climax of the entire fight was after Broken Sword went to wipe the speck of water off of his wife's face and Nameless stopped himself from running him through and disturbing the water, effectively ending the fight because he broke the peace.

Close! There was an old Japanese TV show called Saiyuki, based on Journey to the West, that was called Monkey when it was dubbed into English in the UK, and in terms of quality, it's the Japanese spiritual sibling to the old Doctor Who.

This is old Monkey himself. He palled about with a monk called Tripitaka, a water-monster called Sandy, a pig-demon called Pigsy and a horse that was really a dragon in disguise, the English VA of whom was the waiter from Fawlty Towers.

I managed to convince my auntie's friend to name her rather chubby kitten "Pigsy" domokun heart

My take was that the water represented the guilt over her death. Nameless and Broken sword were fighting over the guilt, and at one point hurling it back and forth between them. However the water landed on the wife, because the death was her doing.

Only in fun movies, like Jackie Chan's. I never want to watch Hard Boiled dubbed.
