"They only further it because you say they do. Do they in actuality? How is one to know unless they stand at the goddesses side and see her delight or dismay?" Weren't rhetorical things fun? Speculations and what not that had no real answer to them, right or wrong was in the mind. "For every power there is a counter to it, deeds done to give one power and another is done to give the other. If Gods were so grand, they would long ago decided who was supreme." Okay now Kieran was a believer in the pantheon, but he knew when it was foolish to blindly obey or believe. "And we wouldn't be having this discussion, now would we?"

Things not always being what they seem and all." Then a look to Jarlaxle. "Then it is good neither you nor I truly understand, yes?" Unless Jarlaxle wanted to call himself a fool by his own admission of course.

"Good luck in your endeavor then." Yes, that was all he had to say on it. Didn't throw a surface elf fit of self righteousness or anything, didn't debunk that possibility factor of that or anything. He'd seen odder things and heard odder things as well.

"May your methods prove fruitful then, yes?" Wasn't encouraging, wasn't discouraging. But a shrug none the less. "Perhaps I may, perhaps I haven't. Depends on if I concern myself with such issues and entertain my mind with such thoughts. Surely things I think of don't entertain you all the time either." Though okay, he'd admit it, he was a but intrigued. Jarlaxle was he believed the first drow he knew of to speak of killing Lloth. Malik had spoke of killing Innoruuk but that was a different matter.

Jarlaxle grinned, the expression was very sinister. He did not speak because he did not want to outright say what his trump card was. But, ever the sneaky fellow, "When this bares fruit, you may have-" He let the thought dangle there.

Malik was just bored. he summoned his normal armor to himself, he'd have to get that redone again, thanks to that impatient dragon.
"Gods can fall. simple as that. there is no divine being that cannot die or be destroyed. Nature abhors a vaccum, and something will just take it's place. probably the killer. and who the hell cares in the first place. we're here to do a job, and lets get to doing it. all this rhetoric of gods and divine wills is just wasting time. You I'm sure have your own methods and plans, so go take care of them, and we'll do our thing. I take it that's what you want by all the antagonizing and snide comments? for us to cut you loose to do whatever it is you really want to do here?"
And Malik just stalked off and down, heading toward that statue where they had encountered the Firsts before. damned drow. he was rapidly gaining on teh princeling for the drow he most wanted to see broken while doing some grand scheme, just becuase he'd find it humorous.

"Are we done now then?" That was the first thing she had said in a while. But not waiting for a response she trotted off after Malik. After all, she knew he was pissed as could be at Ton and Eca, and someone had to be there to play conscience to him again. It was always her...though she wasn't complaining.
Kieran merely stood his ground for a moment, waiting for Zahara to go one before he started off, bringing up the rear.

The two soul Shadows were already out and waiting, watching the group as it approuched. They cast glances at each person in turn, not seeming to care tht there was a drwo in the group. The dead rarely cared about such things.
This time though, there were no smiles. The two looked as indiferent as they came, although Eca had a certain glint in her eye that spoke of some stronger feelings.
There would be no need to enter their visitors bodies in order to speak. The Earth Mother had granted them voices.
Eca spoke first. "How long?"

well good, they could speak.
"You tell me. Tanundra in his madness destroyed Roarke's home, and the present oracle's home, broke my front doors down. all of this, becuase Dimitri kidnapped her again. who, by the way, was supposed to be destroyed by that blade you had blessed that cost me a god given gift? so I want to ask you what in Innoruuk's cauldron is going on?!"
Yes, he was mildly fuming.
"Tanundra is set loose, we're here to get her out. you have information to help or assistance to offer that's fine. but I want to know why that blade didn't do what you, and the Earth Mother, claimed it would do."
Onyx let Roarke sleep..and took to stalking Whirlwind again..this time to find her lost wandering on the second floor, and looking cutely befuddled.
"Lost again I see?"

She was at his side, and gripped a hand to his forarm, not that he would feel it with his armor on, but her being there should be enough of a reminder. Sure, he was angry and he had every right to be, but him being angry wouldn't do them all too much good either. Thus she was hoping that he would at least calm a little for her sake, and let Ton and Eca explain.

Ton spoke through gritted teeth. "The lich's body was destroyed. The sword did it's job. If you had found and destroyed the soul, then there would have been no problem. The fault was not the blade's."
