Technically, yes... though you could argue that "idiot" could sound like two syllables if said quickly enough.
Good eye, I hadn't noticed that.

My two best American friends are from the south and they have the cutest little quirks! They just sound like regular US accents to me, but then suddenly they can turn all CAOWBOOOOYYYY Y'ALLLLL. It always makes me keel over. blaugh
I remember once the guy did it on my name, and I still havent stopped laughing about it. GAWDAYUM IT AYUSTRIIIID

I didn't say everyone sounded like that. Not everybody does, that'd be like saying everyone here has that typical New York accent that's always being stereotyped. There are some who do and some who don't. I just know people who do talk like that. Mainly in the mountainous areas. The first time I was going to myrtle beach, My friend and I stopped at this one gas station, and one of the guys talking on his cellphone had a hilarious hillbilly accent.

Umm...I'm not entirely sure, but every time I hear "Aussie" for some reason I think of the Crocodile Hunter...(RIP Steve Irwin...)
Supposedly where I'm from we have accents but I can't hear it...XD

@Rocket: Well, he was one of the most well-known Aussies, so your association is very understandable.
