Storm leaned forward, suddenly interested now. She could dismiss the spy claim for utter malarkey; her crew was hand picked and comprised of mongrels and mute mongrels of the worst sorts. But if the isle is a local chapter house?... It definitely brokered caution, at the very least. It's worth a recon or five, too. An extended incursion team would be good.
"A lie. If it was the DEIT local chapter, wouldn't you be on their pay roll already?"

Melanie propped her elbow up on the arm of the chair, then rested her head in her hand. "And who's to say I'm not?" She looked up at Storm mischeviously.

Storm smiled; she'd blundered into it.
"Fair enough. It would be very, very bad if you were, however. Very bad indeed."

"Hmmmm?" Melanie's eyebrow shot up in an inquisitive and almost taunting way. "How so Captain?"

Storm smiled again, pleasantly. The drow reached for an olive, from the dish before her and chewed contemplatively, before answering.
"My people, we specialize in torture. My personal favorite is a tactic we call olplynir waess. Roughly it translates into 'skin stealing.' We use a combination of acids, scalpels and knives to remove a victim's skin in a single piece...all the while, keeping you alive, and in incredible pain."
She spit the olive pit out into her open palm.

The smart grin on her face was slowly turning into a look of horror as she listened unwillingly to the consequences of a spy on board. "Oh." Was all she could say for a few minutes as she tried to suffle the cards-so to speak- so as to have the upper hand again. Finally, she spoke in a hesitant yet inquisitive voice. "But what if I gave full alligence to you, but acted as a double agent with them?" She hadn't realized until just then that all throughout the drow's description and her thoughtful reply, that she'd been sitting nearly on the edge of her seat. Hopeing Storm wouldn't have noticed, Melanie inconspicuously sat back into the seat all while trying to win the captain's heart over.

"...Thus admitting to me that you're a spy already. Mistake, I might add."
Storm smiled gently. She popped another olive in her mouth.
"But, I like you; I'll let it slid, this time. I don't need another double agent."
Storm spit the pit out into her palm.
"For whatever reason, you seem to care for your home town. Just for you, I'll sail past it. Fair enough?"

Melanie shrugged her shoulders lightly, glad that the awkward torture talk was over. "Fair enough, good captain." She said with a little laugh as she grabbed a few grapes, popping them into her mouth. "So who was the other double agent?" Melanie said after a few minutes of silence.

"Something like that. So. Will you be my number three?"

Melanie's eyebrow shot up and she grabbed the bottle of wine, pouring herself another cup."Third of what?" As she looked at Storm, she glanced quickly at the bottle, then back to her. "More?"

"Qualla. Third in command, of course. I'd offer you second, but Stil already has the position. He can get a bit...touchy, if you mention rank to him."

Storm smiled.
"Haven't you been listening for the past hour, girl? Because you're sane, that's why! That, and my crew apparently finds you tasty, which never bodes well for those below; you look useful enough to keep out of their stomachs, if you catch my drift."
