"Well, I think he's a bit over protective if how he met Triton and Elnara says anything, and you were a moor cat to be fair at the time," Kara giggled, "He doesn't trust Tao much either from what I'm told, even though Daeron adored her as much as he did Nina."
Kara giggled as her feathers ruffled like waves.
"Donovan was probably just a bit miffed, he tends to get like that when he can't take a direct approach," she muttered under her breath, "No wonder why some people say he's a malniputive b*****d at times."

Serenity couldn't help but laugh. "Ah ... I hope Elrohir has changed by now, then," she smiled. "Though I have heard through the backchannels that he is different than he used to be. Apparently he had a crisis of conscience, is what I'm told."

"He's a good person," Kara replied back with a bit of a smile, "He just needs to learn there is much more out there than the eyes can see. Besides, in the end, he did well with me and Donovan, and if he can get along with Nina that takes talent."
She smiled, she had hoped he had changed for the better, all the better for Elnara.

Serenity sighed. "Yes," she murmured. "It's just so strange that he could get along with Nina yet not his own sister ... I just don't understand it. Not from him."

"I think he needs time," Kara shrugged, "He didn't get along with Triton at first neither... I think..." she mused thoughtfully, "Don't worry though, I think, he just needs to adjust, and he's had plently of time thus far."

"It would be nice, yes, if he has changed in that way," Serenity agreed; but she shrugged. "Though I don't know exactly how much it would matter if Elnara never comes back, anyways."

Kara shrugged, "You never know... there's always a chance," afterall there was a reason why they put up the portals in the first place, "Stranger things have happened," she added.

Serenity smiled and nodded. "That's true," she admitted. "Very true."
She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead. The sun was beating down mercilessly, and only the slight breeze that wafted through the tree tops kept it from being unbearable - and it was only spring.
"Nearly there," she murmured. "Just around this next turn ..."
The turn in the path that was just ahead.

Kara nodded looking up at the sky a bit, she was glad her hair was short and light coloured. It would be far too hot, granted she was fully covered but otherwise she might burn.

As they rounded the bend, the tree came into sight: the enormous willowy branches swayed in the wind that was whispering a haunting melody through the leaves. The leaves were a dark green, with pale stems and veins; about a fingers length, and very thin. The trunk was enormous: so big around that it would require three people linking hands to reach around it (though no one ever would, that would be suicidal). The branches and leaves were dotted with the pretty pink flowers, almost like apple blossoms, that grew at nearly every fork.
"The arbrota," Serenity murmured in a solemn tone, stopping and putting one hand out to stop Kara from getting too close. "A good gust of wind could blow the branches nearly this far," she warned her, nodding at the slender, almost whip-like branches. "Careful."

Kara tilted her head watching it sway as it did, hard to believe the whole thing was a death trap, she wondered absently it if ate people. Since that sort of all around posion behaviour was something she would expect out of the sea life back home. Why else would have it grown to be so poisonious?
"It looks like a weeping willow or a wisteria tree," she murmured.
More like a wisteria in a way, with all it's flowers, the willow tree didn't as far as she knew.

Serenity glanced down at Kara. "I've never heard of either of those," she murmured, "so I'll have to take your word for it."
She paused. "Are they deadly as well?" she asked curiously.

Kara shook her head, "No, not at all, I've never seen a tree that's that deadly before. There are underwater plants that are, but only to small fish and they're down really deep."

"Ah," Serenity nodded. "There are a lot of poisonous plants in this world ... if you don't know what they look like, and how to avoid them, and what their possible antidotes are, it's very dangerous to travel. Even when you do know, it's dangerous ... a lot of them resemble perfectly harmless plants."
She nodded at the arbrota. "Except this one ... this one is one-of-a-kind."

"Are there really that many?"
It was true even Gaia had their share of posion plants, but not the way that Serenity made it sound like. She couldn't imagine it ever being that extreme.
