I would counter with one of the seven deadly sins: Greed.
How do you think real-world economics got so messed up in the first place? People got in en masse and started to do things to make money. Now it has happened all over again with Gold.

Naturally, greed consumes many. Kyou is a very observant and thoughtful individual, so his views are usually well-founded.
I think this latest quest was to test out their newest update on the quest system, so quests can't brake as easily anymore.

I've pretty much ignored the last two quests. I mean, I see no reason to think they give anything worth the effort.

Many a bored soul (me) would disagree. If I actually had other things to do that took a significant amoutn of time, then I'd probably ignore the quests too.
All you get from that quest is a picture of Laim to use in towns.
