"Um... good for you?" She laughed, knowing how woefully inadequate it was as a reply, but not knowing how else to respond. "Although I don't really know what you mean by the 'more's bound to happen'." Her eyebrow quirked up- though it dragged the other one with it. She wasn't very good at the one-eyebrow 'cool question' raise- though she attempted it upon many an occasion. "Something I should know about?" Em asked softly.

"That's what I keep tellin' myself." He laughed, chuckling clear through her question, and cocked his head in a glance that was clearly searching for cameras in the immediate area, meanwhile altering their direction ever so slightly to head for the jungle. With luck, Emelyn would catch his intention, and curiosity would keep her at his side. "Per'aps. 'Owever, you'll 'ave to answer a series of extremely difficult questions to ensure that I can trust you with this information."

She did notice the furtive looks, and the indication towards the jungle. She didn't completely know if it was what he wanted, but she made a stab at it, and nodded towards the deep foliage that edged the village proper.

"Well, I don't know if I'm willing to play twenty questions. You can come for a walk with me, if you want. I've parked Reu for the afternoon... so you won't be tempted." She leveled her eyebrows at him (that was a trick they were well acquainted with)- only somewhat kidding.

He gave a slight nod to indicate his approval as he entered the jungle at her side, weaving his way in no particular direction save that it was away from the village, deeper into the trees. "Ah, but it's much easier for you to answer questions than it is for me to walk. I can tag along in whatever fashion us legless beings do. Slither, if you will, though personally I can't stand th' term. But walkin' is completely out of the question." He lifted a hand to brush away he words, feigning ignorance of the stare. "It won't 'appen again, I swear it. One time interest, now I stay fed so such things don't tempt me. Dogs aren't on the menu anymore."

"Well, be as it may- slither, walk." She laughed, nodding in approval at his promise not to have any further imbibing attempts as far as her dog was concerned. When they were a bit deeper into the woods, her moving carefully and picking slowly over brambles and going wide around obstacles, she said, "And I guess if that's the case, you could ask a few questions."

The jungle closed in quickly once away from the village and the path. The trees were still spread enough that there was a good amount of underbrush, which was irritating in itself, but placed close enough to make the time seem far later than it was. Nonetheless, even in the relative safety of the trees, Thom chanced a slow search of the area for cameras before speaking, and even then kept his voice low. "You're against the labs, aren't you, Emelyn? You're not one I'd expect to forgive an' forget after all they've done."

"Wholeheartedly," she said, her words a whisper upon which the words clung to the underbelly of a breath, "But then again, I can't imagine anyone who's for them."

"Oh, I'm met a good few," he admitted, nose wrinkling. "Unfortunately. But we can't do anythin' about that right now. Listen, Newt an' I are in the process of makin' some weapons." He hesitated, unable to resist another quick glance around the trees. "To fight back. Jamal's already killed a few guards, we're goin' to join in. I've also been tryin' to find someone who may be able to hack that laptop we mentioned. Apparently Moreau was fairly upset to learn it was gone, so it must have somethin' of importance on it."

"Well, I don't know what kind of help I can be there. ...I had a little flint knife that I made, but I lost it the last time I was attacked. And it didn't do me much good- so I'm certainly useless there." She sighed at the memory, but it couldn't be helped. It was just another thing to bury deep, hopefully not to fester and rot away something inside of her. "And I'm more likely to break a computer than hack into it. I'd be happy to help, but..." the pause was filled with her lack of what to offer.

"Any help is most welcome," he assured her, summoning a smile. "Newt's been fairly creative thus far, so I'm sure we can find somethin' for you. 'E's smarter than most people give 'im credit for. Supposedly he's riggin' up some sort of bow an' arrow set, so per'aps we can get you practicin' with one of those..." He trailed off, hesitating briefly, then pushed on forward through the jungle. "'Owever, I did 'ave a reason for seekin' you out in particular... I 'ave a favor to ask you. A way you can help."

"Sure, lay it on me," she said, "but as for the Robin Hood thing? Noo no no no no," she said, an almost quickfire repetition where the words sounded more like 'nu nu nu' than actual 'no's'. "Clumsy, too. I'd shoot myself in the foot."
PostPosted: Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:22 pm

"You could practice," he laughed, folding his arms. "We'd both be learnin' from scratch. If I can attempt it, you can attempt it. You might surprise yourself. I want you to cut out my chip," he added, sliding it in with the last bit of encouragement. "I need it gone, an' you're the one I trust to do it."

Emelyn blanched, a hidden thing beneath the fur that she'd worn for so long now. Her mind went blank, except for one word that came floating to the surface. She didn't realize she'd spoken it as well until it hit her ear.

"...Aichmophobe."

He paused where he was, raising a scaled brow in that questioning look that he, unlike the hedgehog woman, had mastered. "What was that?"

She shook her head free of her own surprise. "I'm... well, I've got a phobia of knives."
