➟Takeshi couldn't control himself, this was a real emergency. He used hand gestures as he talked a bit too fast. "Well me and my friend Xuza were training together, right? Then we got separated after two newcomers showed up, we trained with those guys separately. As I was with my training partner I felt an odd sensation, I didn't know what it was though! So as I'm looking around to see what it was, Xuza comes out of nowhere and discovers that someone had been watching me. I admit I was a bit creeped out but now it's okay because she's actually quite nice. Me and Xuza trained a little together and then Mina got involved, since she was a demon weapon and all, Xuza used her in that state. Before that though, my friend Mina who was the one watching me, warned that she had a unique wavelength that prevents her from touching other people. It's dangerous and so-" He was forced to stop. Taking deep calm breathes he urged himself to keep going. "Mina's wavelength was dangerous, but aI guess we didn't know how dangerous. Xuza used her in battle and soon afterward we realized something was wrong with her. Her movements were slower and later on she lost it! Now every time we talk she says she hears us backwards. Plus she seems to have short term memory loss. And as we were waiting Mina passed out!" Finally he was done talking, he pointed to the room they were waiting in. "They are both in there!" Once again he tried taking deep breathes, he was panicking at this point.
Despite being splashed in the face Mina wasn't very responsive. Her pupils moved beneath her eyelids erratically as moments from her past flashed through her mind. She remembered every time they dragged her from her cell to performed their experiments. Mina knows now that they wanted to unlock the secret behind her wavelength, but that knowledge wouldn't have changed a thing for the poor child locked away in the dark. Now her mind flashed to a point after she was freed with her standing in front of a mirror. She was malnourished and extremely pale. The crudely stitched scars across her body, some still fresh at the time, a reminder of what she had endured. At first she avoided her own reflection and never looked at her injuries but now she knew the details behind each one. Many across her back were from a bladed whip the tortured favored. The soles of her feet had once been pressed with hot iron. But the ones that also haunted her were those on her face. How the man in the hood had smiled as she saw the knife approach her eye. The sheer horror of these memories causing Mina to sweat from fear.

"Damnit... Come on, snap out of it." Xuza didn't it one bit the way Mina was beginning to sweat again. She scrambled, and hearing the backward talk coming from outside the window? no the hallway! it was all confusing, she concluded Takeshi must have completed his task.
"In here, quick!" She called to whoever was still out there. She fanned Mina and dapped the sweat from her face with her sleeve.

Nurse Mortem The Demon Nurse
Nurse Mortem listened to Takeshi carefully. As a nurse she was used to dealing with people who were panicked or injured and so despite Takeshi's rushed speech she was able to understand him. "Definitely symptoms of incompatible wavelengths," she said as she began quickly walking towards the room. "But these are much more aggravated than normal....it may be something else entirely," she walked into the room and saw Mina on the floor and Xuza leaning over her. She walked up quickly and knelt next to Mina. Mina's pupils were moving quickly as if she were dreaming. "The damage to her wavelength sent her into a semi-comatose state," she noted. "From her movements and condition I'd say she's likely experiencing past trauma." She paused for a moment as she considered her options. "A reaction this bad is extremely rare. We'll have to deal with this carefully. I'm not familiar with this student. Is there anything you can tell me about her that may have caused this? Or why she's reacted in this way?" She asked the two of them, hoping to get some better detail on why this was happening.
➟Takeshi walked with her, still worried for the girls. While she explained the situation it began to make sense, which it should. It was something obvious to see. He stood at the back of the room, just so he could give her enough space to do what it is she had to do. The blonde meister didn't say anything until he was questioned about Mina. "N-Nothing much really." he stuttered quietly. "She's new here, and she's a demon weapon. Coming into physical contact with her is painful, she said anyone with a gentle soul won't be able to wield her." His attention went to Xuza. All he could think about was apologizing, he didn't realize that things were so serious. And he couldn't stop himself from blaming himself for not realizing how bad things were earlier, he felt it shouldn't take Mina's fainting spell to invoke such fear within himself. "Maybe Mina felt guilty about what happened. She didn't end up this way until Xuza curled up from frustration."

xuza sat there and blinked absently as the two talked about Mina. She thought she heard something that sounded like "Azux," but that could have just been her imagination. She also dismissed a thought that she shouldn't been so close to Mina, as it was their contact that started this whole mess in the first place.
She thought back to the start of it all, the training field, and felt spirited away to that same moment in time. The way the breeze felt, the weight of her sword in her hand...
Xuza looked down at her hands. They appeared ghostly. She shook her head, and they immediately corrected themselves. How long were they like that?
Still laying where she had collapsed Mina's face showed discomfort. As she relived some of the worse days of her life her wavelength spiked and began to cause a heat haze effect around her, distorting the light so the air appeared to be covered in oil. She rolled onto her side, her hat falling off, and curled up into the fetal position.
Nurse Mortem continued listening to Takeshi as he did his best to explain the situation. "A demon weapon, hm?" She said more to herself than anyone else. This was one of those times where being a Demoness helped as opposed to a Weapon or a Meister. It was easier for her to resonate with a demon weapon than it would be for someone not familiar with madness wavelengths. She looked over at Mina as the girl began to heat up and curled up in the fetal position. She was definitely in more serious condition than Xuza who still seemed calm. She would have to be treated first. She quickly walked over to where Mina was laying in the bed, raising both her hands and focusing her wavelength. Her first order of business was to stabilize Mina's wavelength so that she wouldn't continue to deteriorate. It was true that Nurse Mortem could be considered a gentle soul, but she had also been exposed to great trauma and suffering as part of her job. She'd seen many deaths...and worse. She felt pain from resonating with Mina but it wasn't pain that was unfamiliar to her. She continued to focus, trying to untangle and smooth out Mina's wavelength so that it could return to normal levels. "Please stay back Takeshi, Xuza. Give her some room to breathe," she told the two of them as she worked.
➟"Yes ma'am." He didn't want to do anything that might interfere with Mina's health, that was the very last thing he wanted to do. While the nurse did her job, Takeshi just pondered what could be the root of the problem. "Past trauma...? I wonder what could have happened in the past to cause something like this." Takeshi had his own worries, but nothing that would cause him to experience what poor Mina was experiencing now. All he could do was sit back and give her some room to breathe. His head turned and he saw Xuza, she must have been just as scared as him. Mina wasn't the only one suffering, Xuza had to deal with a lot herself. He just hoped that both Mina and Xuza would pull through.

It's amazing just how little weight the spoken word has when stacked against the universal languages of humans, and in this case humanoid and human. Xuza was relearning how to pick up on cues: she didn't need to hear Nurse Mortem telling her to get back, her eyes and subtle gestures pointed for her.
In that same way, she was able to pick up on Takeshi's gaze.
As the nurse began to work Mina began to calm down. Her wavelength settling once again. But suddenly there was a huge spike causing Mina to scream. All of a sudden they were all no longer in the nurse's office but in the middle of the country. They were surrounded by people wearing hoods and masks and carrying an assortment of vicious weapons. Nearby a farm house was burning and the people were laughing. A man and women, both severely injured were tied to a stake and set ablaze. Another scream came as the people held down a young girl and raised a cleaver. The crowd laughed once again as they cut off the girl's legs and threw down hot coal and glass as she crawled around. The girl looked up, revealing that they had also removed her eyes. As voice nearby cried out. "Alright we've had our fun. We'd best get this one back, but careful when you touch her the girls soul is worth more than your lives." One of the men from the crowd walked towards them and reached between them. From where they stood a small girl was dragged out crying and it was painfully clear this was Mina as a child. As quickly as it had appeared the burning homestead had vanished and they were back in the nurse's office. Mina was sweating but her soul was returning to normal.
➟The boy turned his attention away from Mina and reached for Xuza's hand. He tried to fake a smile, just to show that he was being brave, but a fake smile like his would most likely fool no one except himself. This is all so scary, but I'm sure the nurse knows what she's doing. It's her job after all. Takeshi was clutching Xuza's hand, but it wasn't for her sake, it was for himself. To think that this new day was just going to revolve around a bit of solo practice in the academy's training field, but then transform into this whole dilemma, Takeshi would have stayed in bed. Even if Mina was still a stranger he couldn't help but worry about her health as strongly as he was, as with Xuza. Despite knowing Xuza just a little longer than Mina, he still couldn't help but worry sick over her. Maybe it was just too much to take in at the moment. Bravery just doesn't seem to like me does it?
Before Takeshi had time to react he was introduced to these strange and violent visions, and with these new visions came a new scenery. No longer was the group in death city, but possibly a new country all together. "Where are we? Is this Mina's doing!?" Takeshi tried to keep himself calm, it was bad enough that Xuza and Mina were in bad condition, but now he would have to find serenity through these strange happenings. Watching this strange illusion was like watching a movie, a horror genre movie that would likely be unavailable to kids that weren't of mature age. His first instinct was to run as far as he could from the hooded menaces, but he didn't. His grip on Xuza's hand tightened as they laughed. Did they do that to the farmhouse? Takeshi desperately wanted to close his eyes to the horrors this world had to offer, but he couldn't. Was it just that the boy was paralyzed with fear? It wasn't until he saw the people being burned at the stake that he tried to move his legs, but to no avail as he could do nothing. "Wait! Stop this! Get the down from there! Save them! Why are you doing this you, you bastards!" He screamed and shouted but no one seemed to hear him. His voice could do nothing for him as he was vulnerable to this senseless violence. Now a new voice altered him, a young girl's voice. Once he saw that cleaver go up he felt queasy. Takeshi flinched as they sliced her legs off, but he quickly refocused his attention on her. They took her eyesight and made her drag what was left of her around on glass and coal, then they dared to call it 'fun'. The blonde haired meister was absolutely sick to his stomach now. There was nothing else to shock Takeshi, he was mentally and emotionally exhausted. There wasn't that much left that he could take. Once he saw Mina his face formed a darkened expression, one that you'd never expect from someone like Takeshi, who was constantly smiling. With the nurse's office back to normal the meister just laid on the ground on his knees, not once had he let go of Xuza, or try to for that matter. By now Xuza would be able to tell how shaken Takeshi was since she'd be able to feel the boy tremble. Nothing else was on his mind really, besides what he had just seen. Xuza nor Mina were on his mind, just to awful atrocities committed, whether real or not. His life may have been hell for him, but Mina's life was a literal 'hell'.

Xuza looked at Takeshi worriedly. "Takeshi..."
After the trip to hell she noticed Takeshi had become catatonic. She dropped down to his level, and it wasn't easy, but she acted strong anyway.
"Look... It happened," she begun in earnest. She figured it was the best way to handle this.
"We can't change that now... But that doesn't mean we can't be there for her now. So let's try to smile when she wakes up... Ok?" She squeezed his hand and smiled.
Then to Nurse Mortem, "You can fix her, right?" She forgot she was actually still pretty messed up.
➟The meister didn't respond right away, he was too shocked after being exposed to such horrors. This was much different then some horror movie. Instead of trying to fake another smile he just left the room. He couldn't be in there right now. Waiting outside he reflected on what happened. As far as he could tell, he was going to be okay, but he just needed a minute or two alone. Those faces he saw wouldn't fade from thought anytime soon.
Nurse Mortem focused harder as Mina let out a scream. It was going to get worse before it got better. She realized what was happening when they were suddenly somewhere else. Mina's wavelength had spiked and projected her memories outwards causing everyone in the room to begin experiencing them. This could happen occasionally when a wavelength got out of control and its owner went into a catatonic state. Nurse Mortem was no stranger to brutal injuries or violent events, but even so the scene before her caused her to grimace. The little girl had gone through something horribly traumatic, it surprised Nurse Mortem that she hadn't had a breakdown sooner. Now it was clear why Mina had a troubling wavelength; no one came out of an event like that un-scarred. She glanced over briefly as Takashi attempted to intervene. She admired they boys compassion but she knew it would be of no use. These events were too late to stop. Instead she remained silent and continued focusing her wavelength. Then as suddenly as it had come, the scene vanished and Mina seemed to once again be calm. Her soul had returned to normal and Nurse Mortem focused her wavelength a few more moments to make sure it stayed that way before she lowered her arms and looked over at Xuza. "There's no way to...fix something like that. It's something she'll have to deal with in her own way. But yes, I believe I've returned her wavelength to normal for the time being." She turned to face Xuza. "What injuries did you suffer from the wavelengths backfiring? You don't seem to be physically injured?" She waited calmly for a response; hopefully whatever was wrong with Xuza wouldn't be nearly as bad.
