"Is that... what I... yes.. that is... oh, god." Jasper stared down at the twisted, still-smoldering lump that once was Koffing's Pokeball. The smell alone was enough to turn his stomach, and it took a lot of deep, calming breaths (through his mouth) in order to convince it not to hurl up every last bit of its contents, though he somehow figured Koffing would enjoy watching that. "That. That there, is disgusting," he said, being sure to give the floating poison type his best unimpressed stare. It either didn't bother her, or she didn't quite understand what the problem was as she sidled right up to her new trainer and attempted to wedge herself under his arm.
"Ugh." Jasper rolled his eyes and dug his free hand into his pocket, producing one of several empty Pokeballs. "Since your toxins completely destroyed-" he shuddered, gesturing towards the puddle of yuck, "-that one, let's hope this works." He enlarged the red and white sphere with a click of the central button, furrowing his brows before he turned and smacked the Poison Gas Pokemon on the top of her head with the Pokeball that was still firmly clenched in his hand. Koffing's surprised squeak was actually pretty amusing, but not more than just how wide her eyes went before she was sucked inside. The ball trembled slightly before it clicked shut, and Jasper sighed. "Am I ever going to capture a normal Pokemon?" he mumbled to no one in particular.
With that little problem taken care of, Jasper put the Pokeball away, stopping to stare at the gross pool of molten Pokeball for a few more moments before he finished setting up his bike. He figured it shouldn't be too difficult to backtrack the way he'd came with Jett and Scarlet last night, though he hoped that the many Geodude and Zubat would do the smart thing and stay away from him. * * * * * * * * * * "Ooh, what an absolutely terrific Leer, Ivy!" cheered Hayley from the sidelines, going so far as to hop up and down and clap her hands. Ivy, meanwhile, would probably have rolled her eyes again and sighed had two silvery blades of white energy not been spiraling toward her at an alarming rate. The Snivy carefully sidestepped the first one, spinning and twirling rather gracefully, but the second hit her head on, and she was thrown harshly to the ground as a result. Hayley gasped, and covered her mouth with her hands. Psycho Cut seemed like a scary-strong attack, and she really didn't want her poor little grass type to get smacked around by that again.
"Let's try your Glare this time!" the brunette called, her eyes wide with both worry and wonder. She was very scared for Ivy's safety, yet at the same time, it was quite amazing, seeing these two rare and unknown Pokemon duking out out. Ivy pulled herself to her feet, teeth grit as she carefully surveyed the gash on her stomach. Once again, her eyes narrowed, but this time, as she stared down Odin, they started to shine with a terrifying, hellish red glow.

"Curse?" Jason asked as he looked on with curiosity, what was Curse? Jason wasn't sure what was going on but Roark's Onix suddenly looked even tougher than he did before, which was saying something considering how battle scared he was. But He wasn't going to be intimidated, and neither was Atlas. He simply glared down at his fellow Onix eager to match muscle with muscle. He too wasn't sure what that Onix had done, but that didn't matter. "Heh heh, when it comes to toughness, no one is tougher than Atlas! Lock 'em down with Rock Tomb!" Jason thrust a hand forward with authority and Atlas roared out in agreement, he was gonna show them just how tough he could be! Atlas rose his tail high into the air and slammed it into the earth, eyes glowing with focus as he channeled the energy from his tail into the solid ground, causing a jagged cage like rock formation to start shooting out around Roark's Onix.

Bubbles and Crenu watched as the Tangrowth braced himself to take the Sludgebomb as best he could, and the reaction to being assaulted by the putrid attack was a good indication that this pokemon was not part poison. A few more good strikes like that and this round would go to him, but Erika wasn't going to go down without a fight. She had her pokemon counter with Sleep Powder, and no sooner had the sludge met it's mark was the hulking mass of vines shooting his long tendrils out over Bubbles, the Muk looking around frantically and letting out a gloppy cry as the blue powder surrounded him. Of course, Sleep Powder Poison Powder and Stun Spore were staple moves in a grass type's arsenal, and this was arguable one of the worst to get hit by. There was no escaping it though, the powder had surrounded Bubbles and would work it's way into his system in no time. "Quick, Shadow Punch before you succumb to the effects." Crenu was quick to call out, and Bubbles took in a big lungful of the sleep powder as he charged his fist forward. He punched at the ground and his slimy fist sunk into nothing, as a shadowy copy of his arm jumped out from the Tangrowth's Shadow. This was all he could manage though, as the sludge pokemon was little more than a runny puddle of purple grey, snoring loudly as somewhere in the semi solid pool of it's body a mouth breathed peacefully.

Despite what Keegan seemed to think, his last statement didn't go unheard by Todd, who placed his mug on the counter before turning to look at his overly dramatic son, hands on his hips. The expression he wore seemed to say it all, as it was a fearful mix of indignation and disapproval, and as Keegan turned his head to look up at his father, he suddenly felt very insecure and childish - not an uncommon occurrence for Keegan when he was around his father. "First of all, if you think that anyone can just whip up an instant and appropriate response for everything you've just told me, you're sorely mistaken, son. Secondly, I care a helluva lot more than you'll probably ever know. And thirdly, what "life?" You're nineteen years old! You're barely a man; you're mostly still a child! You've hardly experienced anything. Your life isn't a mess; it hasn't even begun! Don't go shootin' off your mouth about crap you know nothing about." His voice had a cold edge to it, every word spoken with a keen precision that seemed to strike Keegan in all his weakest places. His anger quickly diminished, now replaced with shame and self-loathing, and he knew his father probably would have continued his speech had Maggie Summers not walked in just then, arms laden with shopping bags. Todd didn't have to say a single word or even look at his son as Keegan was already on his feet and taking the heaviest ones from her.
"Oh, thanks, dear!" she beamed, leaning in to kiss her son on the cheek. "You're such a treasure."
Keegan only managed a meek smile in reply. A treasure, sure, he thought bitterly. Too bad someone doesn't just bury me already.
"I'm glad you're home," Maggie continued, either oblivious to the tension in the room between Mr Summers and Keegan, or outright ignoring it. Regardless, her cheerful mood was downright sickening to the redhead and he bit down on the inside of his lip as he helped her put the groceries away. "I'm going to make my famous eggplant Parmesan for supper tonight, and I'd just love for you to help me out!"
The redhead's forehead wrinkled a little; eggplant was most definitely something he did not enjoy, regardless of how much cheese one threw on top of it. "Love to, Mom, but.. I can't."
Maggie looked hurt. "Why not?"
"Because."
"Because why?" she insisted.
Out of the corner of his eye, Keegan saw his father narrow his eyes and he hesitated before answering. "Because I have... stuff."
"What kind of stuff?"
"Trainer stuff," he lied. "You know. I'm way behind on my training and whatever." It was possibly one of the weakest lies he'd ever told his mother, but luckily for him, she seemed to buy it.
"Oh. Okay, then. At least try to come home for supper, all right, darling?" The cheerfully oblivious woman turned her attention to her husband, and after nodding quickly, Keegan took the opportunity, chancing nothing more than a quick glance at his father before he retreated up the stairs, two and three at a time, to his room.

The gears were indeed turning in Kasiya's head as she handed over Ariados' Pokeball for treatment, staring off into space as the normal sounds of the Pokemon Center filled the silence around her. Her idea was crazy - at least it felt crazy - and she knew that anyone she talked to about it would definitely consider her crazy for even thinking about it. She wasn't even sure if it would work, but she was tired of doing nothing. More than that, she was tired of relying on everyone else: tired of being underestimated. Now logically, she knew she was being ridiculous, as everyone else seemed to rely on her just as much, but somewhere inside, she couldn't help but feel an undeniable need to prove herself to everyone.
She accepted the arachnid's Pokeball with a smile, clipping it back onto her belt before she wandered over to one of the couches and plopped down. Like usual, the TV was on but it was muted, and she watched all the lead stories loop through a few times before deciding. Yes, she was going to do it! She was going to get Shocker back, and she was going to do it alone. Well, not alone, as she knew she'd need her Pokemon for it, and not just any of them - she would need Ariel. Since her Raichu's Poke-napping, however, the Vaporeon had been very distant, refusing to rejoin her trainer's party for anything, including their past operation. Ariel would need some serious convincing, and Kasiya knew that if she couldn't sway the Vaporeon into going with her, she wouldn't be able to do it at all. Kasiya jumped to her feet, and headed over to the computer bay for what felt like the umpteenth time that day and withdrew Sirrus yet again, hardly paying attention to what Pokemon was swapped with the mighty Flygon. As she headed outside, a thought occurred to her, and she paused, tucking the Dragon-type's Pokeball under her arm as she whipped out her PokeNav and started to compose a message.
The recipient was Mike, and she figured that sending him a lengthy text message would be far more polite than a phone call, as she was sure he was still resting (she hoped, at least) and allowing himself to start recovering from the plethora of injuries he'd sustained and she didn't want to disturb him. It was a fairly simple message, as all it said was that she was planning to head to Viridian City (no harm in at least telling him where she was going, right) and not to worry about her. Of course, Kasiya was about as subtle as a football to the face and anyone that knew her well enough (Mike definitely qualified for that one) would instantly know that something was up and that her innocent message was not so innocent after all. Feeling pretty pleased with herself she sent it off, smiling as she climbed onto the Flygon's back. "Um, Pallet Town?" she asked, a little uncertainly, as she did not know if Sirrus had been there before. It didn't appear to be a problem, however, and soon the Mystic Pokemon was heading skyward.
=-=-=-=-= Erika allowed herself to breathe a small sigh of relief when she saw that Tangrowth's Sleep Powder was a success, even if the disgusting Muk had managed to get in another attack beforehand. Tangrowth was fairly bulky and solid, so he wouldn't be easy to bring down. The gym leader smiled across the field at Crenu even as Bubbles had been reduced to an oily puddle of snoozing slime in the middle of the battlefield.
"Tangrowth, I believe it's time to use Ancientpower," she said lightly, tucking a wayward strand of dark hair behind her ear. The Vine Pokemon nodded, vines swaying in every which direction from his shaggy body as he raised both hands up high. Several large rocks seemed to materialize between them, each transparent in nature and encompassed with a hazy purple hue. Tangrowth gave a cry before he flung the barrage of enchanted stones toward the sleeping Muk, looking just as confident as the gym leader.

"Lava Plume!?" Riza repeated, her grey eyes going wide with both worry and shock. It was hard not to worry for your Pokemon when flames were shooting off in all directions, effectively covering all if not almost the whole battlefield all at once. Every one of Yula's clones were taken out right away, and the Gardevoir herself could find no way to escape the flames. Her cries were difficult to listen to and when the fire had died down, Yula was still standing, but her body was covered in painful looking burns. "Hang in there, Yula," Riza cried. "Hit Flareon with a Psychic attack!" It was easily Yula's strongest attack, and the Gardevoir had no problems following through with the command. She raised her arms, trying to stay strong even with her burn, and unleashed a powerful blast of psychic energy at the fire-type.
Jaden winced as he watched his Flareon's attack hit its mark, leaving his sister's Pokemon with a nasty burn. The Gardevoir showed great perseverance though, quickly bouncing back and unleashing a tremendous Psychic attack on the fox. The impact alone sent poor Flareon flying and he landed hard on the ground, now struggling to get up. "Wow, Riza. Yula's not only a great performer, but she's incredibly tough, too. Don't give up, Flareon, let's try a Bite attack now." A bit slow to get up, the fox shook himself and darted forward, his muzzle curled back into a snarl as he jumped at the Gardevoir, ready to sink his fangs into her.
"Thanks," Riza replied somewhat quietly, her arms now folded across her chest. She didn't think that Yula could take much more, what with the burn steadily taking away her strength. Bite was a dark-type move, if she remembered correctly, so if it hit, Yula would likely be taken down. But then again, Flareon was running right at her, a wide open target. She smiled a little. "Wait for it," she whispered, smile growing. "Wait for it...Now! Yula, Shadow Ball!" Waiting until Flareon was close, Yula lobbed a Shadow Ball at point blank range, but it didn't seem to be enough to stop the fire-type. He still managed to bite down on her, causing a lot of pain and damage. Yula cried out, staggering back and trying to shake off the fox but it was too much. She slumped to the ground, too weak to continue.
Flareon, on the other hand, hadn't fared so well against the point blank Shadow Ball and even though he'd managed to land his Bite, he was feeling quite weak as well. As Yula slumped, so did the fox, and Jaden recalled him quickly. "Well, let's call that one a draw then, shall we?" * * * * * Once Katie got moving, it didn't take her too long to get out of the Hearthome City limits, though she did stop by the gym to have a peek. Sadly, it was closed at the moment for the gym leader was away on business, or so said the note on the door, held in place by a rather extravagant frame and it was laminated to protect it from the elements. It was just fine and dandy with her, as she'd heard the leader, Fantina, was actually quite tough and she didn't feel ready to face her just yet. Her sights were set on Solaceon Town for now, where her first mission awaited her. After that, she'd be on to Veilstone for her third gym match and a rendez-vous with Mai, and she couldn't help but feel excited to show the older trainer just how much she'd improved since their last meeting.
She also couldn't help but wish that she owned a bike, as the route leading to Solaceon seemed quite long, but not as long as the trek between Solaceon and Veilstone. She thought of her feisty Staravia and wondered if the bird would ever evolve into a Staraptor, as it would mean that she could easily fly back to the places she'd already been and make her life that much easier. Katie had been walking for about an hour before she stopped to take a break, though she could tell that her stamina was improving the longer she was out on her own. 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger,' she thought as she had a drink of water, content to just sit on a soft patch of grass and watch a small flock of Starly pecking at the ground nearby. * * * * * Jasmine couldn't help but wince a bit when she saw the Metang hurt itself in its confusion, which was putting it rather lightly. In fact, she wasn't sure she'd seen a Pokemon do anything like that to itself before, and she wasn't at all surprised to see Miharu recalling the poor confused Pokemon. 'I wonder what she's going to send out in its place,' the gym leader thought, glancing over at her Magneton as it drifted back toward her.
She was definitely not expecting to see an Ivysaur, of all Pokemon, and Miharu didn't waste a second, quickly calling for a Sleep Powder. The blue, glittery cloud was lovely but exceedingly dangerous as it drifted down and coated Magneton. For a moment it seemed like the steel/electric-type would shake it off, but very soon the magnet Pokemon had drifted off, though still managing to hover a few feet off the ground. "Drat," Jasmine muttered. "Magneton, wake up! Use Flash Cannon!" she demanded, but the magnet dozed on.

"Nice work Odin! That was a solid hit!" Odin gave a happy grunt and radiated happiness at his first compliment. Upon hearing Hayley yell out for Ivy to use Glare he knew they'd be in trouble if it landed. Alright so that's a sight based attack, so maybe if he doesn't look at her it won't work!
It was crazy, but it just might work. "Odin close your eyes and keep them shut till I say otherwise!" The dark/steel type did so and simply stood there with his eyes closed. While the attack may not have worked, closing his eyes did leave him open for another attack from the grass type.

"Warm." Mike muttered under his breath as he tossed in his bed. He couldn't remember the last time he felt this comfortable. He hummed a low chuckle as he continued to roll around under the covers, not even sure where he was. Honestly? He didn't care. He was warm, he was under the covers, he was safe. In a groggy daze he flung his arm to the side, the tubes in his arm banging against the railing to his bed. It produced a deafening metallic clang and sent a gross tingling sensation up his arm. The vibration rattled his entire body, reminding the boy in one swift instant just how battered and broken he was. Mike let out an anguished cry and grabbed his now throbbing head. He heard a voice ring out from the side of the room and suddenly his lack of awareness wasn't as fun anymore.
Mike turned his head to identify him, but his vision was still blurry from the pain. The bright hospital lights weren't helping either. "Wh-Where am I?" he sputtered, his breathing becoming erratic. The machines behind him screeched as the boy's temperature rose dramatically. His scars began to glow as smoke started pouring out from them. Each breath from the boy was like a drag from a cigarette. The breathing in made his scars glow, breathing out pushed the smoke from the pores on the damaged skin. “Where am I?!” he screamed.
"Calm down, Mike!" urged the voice, its blurry form slowly becoming something recognizable. "You are in the Lilycove Hospital, and it is Thursday, July 6th. You've been asleep for the better part of a day while you recovered. You're completely safe."
He's right! a ghost said. We recognize the voice!
“Who is it?” “Who is what?” Blaine asked, confused.
Blaine.
"Blaine?" he repeated, blinking as his vision corrected itself. The background was a little out of focus, but sure enough, it was him. White lab coat, sunglasses, and bald head in all. “When-what-when did you get here for?” Mike slumped forward, resting his head in his hands as the spinning room began to slow down.
“Uhm, I've been here for quite some time, actually.” the Gym Leader replied, looking around the room for whoever Mike was talking to. “I'm unfortunately the leading name in Pokemon genetics.”
“And what does that have to do with me?” Mike asked shortly.
“Let's just say this isn't the first time a bizarre mixing like this has happened between man and Pokemon. Your new biological makeup,” he started. “Appears to have been stabilizing over the past few days. Similar to a how your body adjusts to fight an illness, your reactions over the past few days have been its way of adapting to your 'gift' from Moltres.” Blaine removed his sunglasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. “What doesn't make sense, however, is that the numbers don't add up. Scientifically, you shouldn't be alive.”
------
“We went to the-” Sasha started, realizing that if she was to summarize the entire expedition at this volume she would pass out before she even made it to Maxie. “Let's go sit in the lounge, I'll tell you there.” She lead the way, turning quickly and made a drinking motion, pointing inquisitively at the two girls. Whitney happily nodded while Nina seemed hesitant and refused. Sasha teasingly stuck her tongue out at the blue-haired girl and continued ahead, gracefully navigating the crowd with twirls and quick footwork. She even dodged the stream of a drink sent haphazardly airborne by the wrist of a girl who should have stopped two margaritas back. “Mental note: s'ank Bishop for pushing z'hose ballerina lessons on me.”
Through a beaded doorway that was just tacky enough to be perfect, Sasha found herself in the lounge. The music was muffled by the walls, but was replaced by conversation equally as loud. It was dimly lit, each table having its own hanging light. “Parfais.” she said to herself, smiling widely. Taking out her ID, she walked over to the bar and ordered two tall Budmeisters, tipping the bartender handsomely. These would be the only drinks she would buy tonight. She had a date after all. She turned around with both beers in hand, scanning the crowd for wherever Whitney and Nina had managed to sit down. Ah! There they were. What a coincidence, only a few tables away from Sabrina and her beau. Sasha sighed at the nosy girls and made her way over, planting the giant glass in front of of her fellow rose-haired friend. “You handled yourself well on the floor, now let's see how you drink.” she said, smiling in a way that just invited competition.

"I'll make you eat those words!" Whitney playfully shot back, taking her beverage from her friend and tipping the bottle in Sasha's direction. She took a big, long drink, emptying a good portion of the contents; she set the bottle on the table and let out a small burp, and giggled. Nina watched her sister and rolled her eyes, chuckling. "I never really pegged you as being a beer-drinker, Whit," she said. "Oh, yeah!" she replied. "Beer, liquor, mixed drinks-- I don't discriminate. What do you drink, Nina?" The girl shifted in her seat. "Well... I don't, really. I mean, I've had wine once or twice before, but nothing really beyond that. I'd rather wait until I'm actually of the drinking age to drink-- and you should too, y'know." "Boo, you're no fun! I suppose it shouldn't surprise me though-- you and Sabrina are so alike sometimes, you know that?" "Oh? And how do you mean?" "You can be such party poopers! Why not get out there, live a little!" "Hey, watch it. I might show you up someday-- you never know." "Just like Sabrina was gonna show us up on how to dance tonight?" Nina shook her head a few times. "You're impossible." "Speaking of Sabrina," Whitney said, looking in the elder psychic's direction, "what do you suppose she and her little boytoy are talking about?"
"...I'm sorry, but I've just never been terribly fascinated by too many Fire-type Pokemon. I don't have anything against them by any means, but they don't captivate me quite the way that Psychic-types do." Damon took a sip from his drink, a little smirk dancing on his lips. "You're also biased," he commented, replacing his drink onto the table. "You're a world-renowned Psychic, after all. Listen, I'm not saying that you should completely revamp your team and forget all of the training that you've incurred over the course of your life; I'm merely suggesting that you not completely rule them out." He paused for a moment. "What are your thoughts on Ice-types?" Sabrina was absentmindedly stirring her drink with her finger, brushing up against the ice cubes as she did so. "I like them," she commented. "I've actually got a Jynx in my party-- she's one of my most of my most trusted Pokemon, and my sister Nina has a Lapras that she used to use, which has served her pretty well in the past. My only complaint about Ice-types is that they seem pretty sparse, and defensively, they could stand some improvements." The boy took another drink. "Unfortunately, that's true; there really aren't a whole lot of Ice-types to choose from, but as long as you know what you're doing with them, they can be utilized very effectively. And offensively, they've got some of my favorite attacks; I mean, tell me how many times that Ice Beam has come in handy." He smiled a little bit, eliciting one from Sabrina.
"He made Sabrina smile!" Whitney said, elbowing Nina in the side. "Holy crap, Nina, I think you better see if you can get this guy to stay around!"

As the ground fell away from beneath her, Kasiya couldn't help but think of the message she had sent to Mike. Now that she thought about it, it would actually be kind of nice to have someone there for back up, just in case something went wrong, and she had a momentary panic attack, desperately checking over her phone a few times to see if there was an unsend button. Unfortunately, no such option existed so she would just have to hope that he slept on through it, as she really didn't want for him to be worrying about her. He had plenty on his plate right now without having to worry about her as well. She considered sending a message to Keegan as well, but when she remembered the hurt look in his eyes, she decided against it. As much as she hoped they could still be friends, she figured it was probably too soon to be sending friendly messages, even ones that said 'Hey, just letting you know that I'm about to storm Team Rocket's headquarters in Viridian and get my Raichu back, we should totally battle again sometime.' She laughed to herself, causing Sirrus to look at her over his shoulder and she smiled. "It's nothing," she told the Flygon, though her smile faded. Things were going to be that much different now, weren't they?
She also still owed the gang the explanation of how she'd come to be in the possession of this Flygon in the first place, and she considered leaving the dragon's Pokeball where Mai could find it once she'd gotten Shocker back. She almost immediately decided against it, figuring she'd likely need the Flygon to make a quick escape if things got rough. First thing's first, however, as before she went storming anything, she was going to have to convince Ariel to join her cause. The others, like Hiro and Ada and Levi, wouldn't be a problem, but she couldn't help but feel nervous about seeing the Vaporeon again, oddly enough.
The flight from Vermilion to Pallet Town was relatively short and she touched down at the bottom of the stairs that would lead up to Professor Oak's laboratory. She thanked Sirrus, who wrapped his scaly tail around her in reply for an awkward hug. It was hard not to adore the goofy Flygon and she recalled him into his Pokeball, wondering how he would feel about helping her break into the Viridian base where his actual trainer lived and worked. Kasiya climbed the stairs, attempting to steel herself as she reached the door and rang the bell. Professor Oak himself answered a few moments later, and he seemed rather happy to see her. "Oh, Kasiya, it's you," he said, grinning from ear to ear. "Come in, come in. Tell me, what brings you to Pallet Town?" he asked as he ushered the girl inside.

“What numbers?” Mike asked, raising an eyebrow.
“All of them.” Blaine replied bluntly. “Plasma levels, pH, iron count, everything.”
“So basically,” Mike said, finding it difficult to contain his smile. “My wings don't flap fast enough for me to fly but I do it anyway?” Mike jabbed before bursting into laughter at the Gym Leader's expense. Blaine frowned. “I'm sorry. I'm sorry!” he said between hysterics. “It's just...hahaha-Ahahaha!” After a minute of broken laughter Mike calmed down, reflexively wiping a tear from his eye even though it had already evaporated. “So what do you know about me?”
“Well, we know that these new features of yours are a result of your blood reacting with the air. That's why you can force fire from your body and your scars seep smoke.” He pointed to the ceiling above him, which was stained a light shade of gray.
“Well, won't I be a hit at restaurants.”
“However, despite some of the more technical aspects eluding us, I have a theory that your emotions play a heavy role into the manifestation of your abilities.” Blaine pointed to a test tube that had a dried up substance in it, then to another which contained an orange-red liquid. “This was a sample I took from you the other day, and this is one from a few hours ago.” From the information I've gathered, you were in a pretty bad state when you first came to me, but are now in a better spot, right?”
“Who did you talk to?” Mike asked. “Kasiya? Flannery?”
“Winona.” he replied matter-of-factly. “She was actually the one that asked me to come take a look at you.” Mike half-smiled at the news.
Winona is certainly much more kind than she lets on.
“Yeah, that's her alright.” the boy chuckled. “She'll never let you know she cares, but when you need her she just knows somehow.”
“That isn't the only thing you should thank her for.” Blaine added. “It's because of her that you're not behind bars, or worse.”
“What do you mean?” Mike's expression went from curious to concerned.
“She happens to be friends with the right people, and bargained Maxie's transferal for a second chance for you. She argued that since you were so young and that you lead the charge in bringing him in, that it should be taken into consideration that you be let off the hook. She actually called me this morning from the station they moved him to.” The Gym Leader looked over at the boy. “That isn't to say that there won't be conditions.”
Mike lowered his head. Winona was putting herself in a real tricky spot just for him, even after what he tried to do to her.
You can't let this go to waste.
“Name them.” he said. “Whatever it takes.”
------
Sasha grinned, following Whitney's lead and downing a good bit of her own drink. She tried to burp, but all that came out was a small 'eh', like a puppy trying to bark for the first time. "Oh-ho?" she said with a raised eyebrow as Nina mentioned how young Whitney was. "Well z'hat's z'he last one for you tonight, you little trickster!" Her tone was more like a father sneaking praise to a son for winning a fist fight in school, than the tone he would have if his wife were in the same room. Nothing saying that they couldn't enjoy this one, or that her past drinking escapades were always entirely legal, but she didn't feel like getting busted. New clubs were always stingy with the rules when they first opened up. "Don't worry, Nina. You don't have to drink if you don't want." she took another sip of her drink. "Everyone parties a little differently." Sasha smiled at the girls as they continued to spy on Sabrina, choosing to remain intentionally ignorant and instead focus on her drink. She imagined it was difficult to eavesdrop on a psychic and get away with it anyway.
Having danced, had a drink, made a new friend and hopefully secured a date for later in the night, Sasha was feeling pretty good. At least, good enough to talk about earlier today. "So Nina." she began, putting her glass down on the table. "I'll give you z'he super short version." she took in a breath, then proceeded to recount the morning's exploits. "Me, Kasiya, Keegan, Flannery, Winona, Mitsu, Kilik and Mike all went to the Magma base and fought our way through it until we got to Maxie, but right before we got there, a creepy shadow s'hing was standing in our way and it sicced Mike's Pokemon on us while Mike fought Maxie in the other room!" the girl shuddered at the thought of Milo. "He was super creepy and really laid into us. Portabello was projecting him I s'hink, and during the fight he caught on z'hat Mike was going to blow himself and Maxie sky high and stopped him." She took another sip from her drink because the next part barely made sense to her and she saw it first hand. "So, Portabello stops everyone from blowing up, and z'hen Mike starts yelling at himself and rips z'he shadow from his head and z'hen all z'hese oz'her ghosts show up and tear him to pieces and start talking about whatever. So z'hen we bring Mike to z'he hospital and z'hey hooked him up to all z'hese machines to see why he is basically on fire all z'he time." She finished up her beer and let out a happy 'ahh'.
"Oh, and he broke up wi'z Flannery and him and Kassie are dating now I s'hink and z'hey are so cute togez'her, oh mon deiu! She was holding his hand and tucking him into his bed and gave him a kiss while he slept!" her babble soon transcended into her native tongue as she gushed over the two love-birds.

Despite the rapid pace at which Sasha was speaking, Nina was able to keep up with the story. She found herself a bit lost for words when the girl had finished, and quite honestly, didn't know what to say; in her time of silence, she was essentially absorbing all of what had just been recanted. "Sasha, I--" She stopped herself for a moment. "I'm so sorry to hear all of this." She didn't know why she was apologizing. Maybe she felt like if she had been around for that incident, she could have helped out in some small way. Maybe she could have supported her friends, and maybe somehow that would have made a difference. Maybe she could've tried reasoning with Mike? That last part seemed a bit unlikely. "Are you-- are you okay?" she asked. "I mean, physically you look fine, but... is everything else okay? Emotionally, and stuff? How's Kasiya? How's-- how is Mike?" She was worrying, but it really shouldn't come as a surprise; her love and concern for people was something she couldn't help.
Whitney absorbed that knowledge too. "I'm only familiar with a few of those people-- Mike's one of them, and of course, Flannery and Winona," she commented. "But, I'm sorry to hear about all this." Whitney took another drink. "Sasha..."
Nina paused again, staying quiet for a bit longer than she did the first time. "I know you said that Mike's resting, but... do you think there's anything that I can do to help him?" "Probably not right now, Nina." "Is your name Sasha?" Nina snapped. "Hey, calm down. The best thing you can do for Mike right now is to let him get his rest until he's feeling better." "I know that, but I want to visit him, or-- or something." "And do what?" "I don't-- I don't know." "Nina, listen. You can help Mike by letting him recover. So, really-- stop worrying. We'll visit him when we can." "...Yeah. I suppose that really is what's best for him right now." "Imagine that-- Whitney's making sense."
Nina and Whitney jumped in their seats.
"Don't you ever sneak up on me like that again!" "Jeez, Anna! Where the hell did you come from?!" "A Misdreavus and a Haunter, if you really must know."

The ride back to the entrance of the Union Cave was rather uneventful. Jasper saw a few trainers, namely a pair of hiker, battling a couple of things that looked like bigger Geodudes and the boy marveled at how the two had even managed to escape the cave (if that's where they came from) considering their love of such things and tendency to challenge anything that moved to battle. Luckily, neither of them saw him and Jasper sighed with relief, navigating his bike toward the entrance of the passage, deciding that it while it would be safer to go through on foot, he wanted to get through to the other side as fast as possible. Of course, only a few short moments after going inside, Jasper was accosted by the first of what could be many annoying of the wretched, winged menaces. He instinctively reached for Ditto's Pokeball, wondering if he could get a repeat performance of the trek yesterday, but instead of the terrific transformer, an excitable blue gator appeared instead.
"Totodile?" the boy asked, which was answered with a sharp growl. "Alrighty, then, knock yourself out." Now Totodile was normally raring to go, but sometime between here and the Pokemon Center she had cranked it up to eleven, and Jasper wondered if it was because of her training match with Zorua before. The bat swooped in, mouth agape and apparently interested in taking a chunk out of Totodile. Now, the gator was having absolutely none of that, watching and waiting until her attacker was close before lashing out with her claws. Jasper assumed she was going for a Scratch attack, but the hit itself ended up looking more like a b***h slap, and the bat spiraled back in a comical manner, flailing about in the air as it tried to right itself. Jasper couldn't help but snicker in the background, but he figured he should at least pretend that he was in control of the battle. "Dragon Dance," he said quickly, "before it recovers."
Totodile gave a quick nod and did just that, moving her feet in a methodical fashion in order to draw upon the power from inside. Almost immediately Totodile could feel her power increasing, and her movements were quicker now, as well. Just in time, too, as once again the annoying flying critter was attempting to divebomb her, and with a grace and agility that seemed very unfitting of a Pokemon with a hugely powerful jaw, danced lithely out of the way, her eyes narrowed menacingly as she readied herself for her next attack. * * * * * * * * * * "Hey, that's pretty clever, Kressen!" Hayley called, grinning over at her opponent even though she probably shouldn't be happy that Ivy's Glare was rendered ineffectual. However, the little blade monster was rather helpless right now and Hayley figured she should try to get in another attack. 'Odin'll have to open his eyes eventually,' the brunette thought with an impish grin, 'and when he does, he'll have a Glare waiting for him!' In the meantime, however, the Snivy was fast - very fast - and Hayley, despite her troubles with battling, tried to appear confident. "Let's try a Tackle, then," she suggested, watching with glee as her little Grass Snake streaked across the ground toward the Pawniard, ready to throw all of her weight(?) into the little tyke. What was the worst that could happen?

"Thanks Hayley!" He beamed at the compliment, but kept focused on the battle. When she yelled out tackle and he saw how fast Ivy was he knew they wouldn't be able to dodge. So instead of ordering Odin to try and dodge he simply said. "Brace yourself and open you arms like you're getting a hug."
Odin would barely have enough time to comply to the order as the grass type sped towards him, but he managed to open his arms and expose his blades as a deterrent or means to counter attack the Grass type if it continued.

The little group finally made their way to the sandy part of the park. From here Robin could see elegant sand sculptures that looked like you could go inside of them. "Woah! These are really cool!" Robin exclaimed, she really wanted to go closer but she was afraid she might break it, so instead she admired them from a little ways away. "Ah right so Mr. Bunny disappeared here?" She finally got around to asking.
Nodding Amelia pointed over to the corner where there was a small bucket and shovel in the sand. "I was playing over there. Mr. Bunny went to get us some water and he did come back. I don't know what happened." Amelia looked like she was about to start crying at any moment. Robin had been distracting her before but now that she was remembering why she was even with the goofy girl.
The two of them headed over to the abandoned play site to go investigate it. The redhead didn't really know what she was looking for but she rubbed her chin like she had seen that one detective guy do as she looked things over. "Hmmm..." She didn't really see anything, then again it would help if she knew what she was looking for. Looking over at her Monferno, who was busy glaring at everyone around them, Robin edged over to him. "Detective Ace, do you see anything wrong with this crime scene?"
The Monferno jumped at hearing Robin call over to him and with an embarrassed look he headed over to her and looked down at the set of toys and abundance of sand. He didn't seem to see much, the sand ate up much of the foot prints, what he could see were indents though. Probably small enough to be left by a Bunneary. Deciding to follow them he noticed that they lead to the entrance of the sandcastle thing. Looing back he was surprised to see that Robin had followed him. The Monferno blinked wide blue eyes in surprised before huffing and pointing inside.
"It's inside? Well ok. Let's go! Amelia we think Mr. Bunny went inside!" She called back to the girl.

Roark winced slightly as he watched his pokemon get caught up in the Rock Tomb. Still his Onix was tough, it would take a lot more then that to take him down. What was more interesting to Roark though was the fact that Jason didn't seem to know what the move Curse was. Surely his own Onix had it. "Onix use Rock Throw." Roark called out watching with interest as his own Onix moved around the rocky spikes surrounding him. A loud intimidating roar echoed through the gym as Onix wound it's tail around before smashing it into the spikes that Jason had attacked him with just a moment ago and sending them flying towards the other Onix.

Jasper ran through the list of Totodile's available attacks in his mind, finding that he was starting to get pretty good at remembering them all and feeling a sense of accomplishment - until he remembered his brand new Koffing and a whole new set of moves he'd have to commit to memory if he wanted to at least look the part of a respectable trainer. Meanwhile, the horribly fearsome Zubat seemed to reconsider flying in to try and bite Totodile and this time opted for a Wing Attack instead. It was clever enough to predict the gator's attempt at dodging, but that didn't mean that Totodile was going to back down. While her trainer was lost in Lala-Land, she was busy fighting battles, now laying in to the annoying flying type with a piercing jet of water from her mouth.
The Water Gun hit its mark, sending droplets of water spraying off in all directions, including onto a mildly daydreaming Jasper. He blinked a few times and wiped the water from his face, suddenly wishing the gator would spontaneously learn how to shoot of deadly bolts of lighting. "Do that one again," he said, taking a step back as a precaution. "Water Gun, yeah." Totodile gave a quick nod, even though she'd rather be chomping down on the winged menace, and shot off another stream of water. Her aim was a little off this time as the bat dropped sharply to the left, screeching something horrible at both the gator and her dumbstruck trainer. It took a moment for Jasper to realize that said horrible screeching was actually an attack, and he laid his palms over his ears to drown it out. "Hey Totodile, are you all right?" he questioned, looking to his water type.
Totodile, however, was now standing slightly off-kilter, mouth agape, a nasty trickle of drool seeping between her fangs as she stared up at the Zubat. The glazed-over look in her eyes was a telltale sign that something was wrong. Jasper opened his mouth to give another command, but the bat, being a speedy little b*****d, zipped down and bashed itself into Totodile's face, knocking the little gator to the ground. * * * * * * * * * * What was the worst that could happen? Apparently death by sharp and pointy hugs was the worst thing that could happen. As soon as the little Pawniard opened his arms to "embrace" the attacking Snivy, Hayley threw up her hands. "Ivy! Stop! Abort, abort! Pointy hugs! POINTY HUGS!" she cried fearfully. Ivy would have loved to point out the absolute uselessness behind Hayley's concerned cries had she not been charging full-on into what might as well been a veggie shredder. The young Snivy had no interest in becoming a tossed salad just now, so about the only thing she could do was drop to her belly and slide. As she skidded along, she dug in her little hands, throwing her weight to the side and causing her leafy to tail to lash out in a sweeping motion. With any luck, little Odin would be tripped up and make for an easy target next round.
