Des Voh EK, when you say 'sector defense', are you intending on getting a message to where Skye, Stellar, and myself are? And Sayla, which way will you be heading? To the listening post. It has equipment I can use to reach Coruscant.

I wonder what kind of data would be on a transport ship anyway; probably nav coordinates and other things, but nothing of import...

Nothing for Dromund Kaas or major bases, thats for sure. Or they'd need a code to pass hyper-encrypted data for those navi-cords...
But the acquisition is whats most important to me about it. But it depends on how well its handled on how far it can be brought.

Talking about the Red Rodian? There's probably some minor data that didn't get dumped when they evacuated. About half of the cargo was jetissoned and recovered, along with the shuttles and escape pods. Loss of life was relatively minimal. The only thing really of import is probably some misc. cargo and supplies that were left, some self-powered security systems, and structural data on the ship itself. The biggest prize is getting a life-sized, if battle damaged, example of an Imperial ship that the Republic can study.

I don't see how studying a cargo ship is going to help the Republic, or even how they would haul it anywhere capable of studying it.
I'd just scrap the ********. Peel off some of that tough outer hull to reinforce sections of your own ships, rip off the lasers and refit them, and take whatever else could possibly be useful.

Something else I want to add about the sector we're in. The Minos Cluster Sector Fleet during the Galactic Empire era numbered about three capital ships, with one of them being a dilapidated Vic class SD from the Clone Wars. That was usually what they placed at the naval base over Travnin. If the Empire at the height of its power thought less than a squadron of ships, none of them new, would be enough to enforce its will in the cluster, then the sector fleet is probably just that one Thranta EK just got done shooting up.

Probably what I'd do. It'd take a major overhaul, months probably to repair the ship enough for flight and combat. Then you have the logistics issue of crewing it, unless you get all kinds of slave circuitry.
And Cale does bring up a good point.... only logical alternative I can think of is if the Republic had more interests in the Cluster during this era, and if the fleet to respond and help came from another sector.
And the ship I took out was actually a Hammerhead. Much older, probably been in the sector defense for eons. Irrelevant now.

Just because the hammerhead is an old design, doesn't mean it still isn't the backbone of the Republic fleet...

Just pointing out that the ship was older, and had probably seen better days, which seems to be the same as every other Minos Cluster defense ship

If anyone is curious why i haven't posted on my smuggler, it's for two reasons:
First i haven't had much need or time to, and secondly, i had intended for my smuggler to square off and fight my soldier, since there's not much else i can think of doing at the moment.
