Importance of Being Lucie

PostPosted: Fri Jun 03, 2011 7:02 pm

Annoyed her puppet heard that another was in the office, Desdemona said, "Yes, Catalina was here, but...she did not find anything to worry about. You see, no one is overly worried about you."

She ignored the real climate of the school and the letter from Lillian's daughter that said otherwise.

"Would you like to read this note?" she asked again.

Lillian hoped with all her heart Desdemona was lieing. She felt unusually angry, and knowing it would be a mistake anyways, she demanded the note, talking as sturdy as she could.
" I-f-f it's meant to me, then that would make i-it MI-ine. I-i want MY note..." She had glimpsed the handwriting on the envelope. It had to be from Al... worry for her daughter ate away at her for a moment, and she stood up.

She swayed where she stood for a moment, her scabs not leaking anymore, but leaving a small puddle of dried blood where she had been a second ago. "Gi-ive me MY note.." She said sternly, as if she was in control of the situation, which she clearly wasn't.

Desdemona narrowed her eyes. Why did Lilly keep fighting like this? It was obvious who was going to win.

She reached over and slapped the headmistress across the mouth. "You own nothing anymore. It is only because of my kind nature that I am allowing you to see this letter!" she scolded.

"If you keep this up, there will be no food."
Desdemona said sharply, eying the thin figure before her.

Lillian gasped as the sharp nails hit her hard across the face, but she refused to fall to the floor.

"THEN. No..food." She gasped. She put her hands on her knees, panting, then made a lunge for the letter, trying to grab it from Desdemona's hands.

Desdemona was almost shocked at the energy the headmistress still had after days of torture and starvation. However, her coordination was lacking. Desdemona merely had to sidestep the woman's path and punched her in the kidney.

Looking at her beaten figure, Desdemona decided it was better to keep up the ruse that Professor van Nikolai was still in charge. Without giving her a moment to attack again, Desdemona cast the Imperius curse once more, stronger than any of the other attempts, to keep the prisoner obedient.

"Now. Let's read your letter shall we?" Desdemona smirked.

Lillian felt a hard blow and stumbled to the ground, gasping for air, scars re-opening and blood leaking from her side. She put her hand to her side just as she felt a wonderful clearing sensation.

The voices in her head resumed arguing, and she heard another voice from far off talking about her letter. she tried to reach for it with one of her hands, but it flopped to the floor lifelessly the moment she tried to raise it. She was mouthing the words no, looking like a fish out of water, panting, arguing within her very own mind.

Desdemona cleared her throat and glanced at the letter. It was plain and simple, a child worrying for their mother:

Quote:
Mom,

Hey, just wanted to be sure everything was alright. Sending this with a school owl, so sorry if you don't recognize it. I know you're upset about what dad did to you...and good reason! I just wish this didn't taint your views about all Muggles. Anyways, I hope I can come up to your office and see you soon, it's been a while! Reply back as quick as you can. By the way, Desdemona is a creep! Why'd you hire her? She's so rude to me.

~ Al

'This might light a fire under her,' thought Desdemona. 'Why not make it something better?'

"Dear mom," she began, pretending to read Alison van Nikolai's letter. "I just wanted to let you know that I'm so glad you made that decree about muggles. They really are disgusting. I also am happy you chose someone like Desdemona to straighten out Hogwarts. So are many others. This place has gone to the dogs recently. Al."

Desdemona grinned a wolfish grin. "It seems as though the population of Hogwarts has turned against you, Lilly. Even your own daughter," she said cruelly.

Lillian's brain seemed to have jammed. Al wouldn't say that...she thought over and over again. She didn't know what was the turth, but she refused to believe this until she saw the letter with her own eyes.

"You...LIAR!" She yelled from her spot on the floor. She was still fighting, one side of her brain yelling at her for calling Desdemona a liar, telling her to accept what her daughter must have written. But the other side and her own self, knew it couldn't be true.
:LIAR!" She shouted again, trying to keep the sane side in control. Al wouldn't say that...Al had lived with muggles, true she didn't like her father but..she couldn't like Desdemona...surely not the woman hurting her own mother that..that she loved? She still loves me? The cruel side implanted these doubts.
"SHE LOVES ME!" she shouted. She needed to stay in check, she had to fight it...or Hogwarts was really going to go to the dogs then...

While crumpling the letter up and tossing it out the open window, Desdemona's calm shattered when Lillian saw through her deception. She released the owl and drew her wand out.

"What did you just call me?" she hissed. Not waiting for an answer, she once again cried, "CRUCIO!"

Lillian rose into the air for a moment, hitting her floor with a hard crash. Lights and stars were popping in Lillian's eyes, and she was suddenly giggling uncontrollably..like she was deranged... “haha...ha..ha.....h..a...h....a” she stuttered, breathlessly, and she heard someone else laughing too, someone cackling above her. She heard their voice loudly now, no longer across an ocean, it was as if they had been shouting in her ear, and the ringing effect made Lillian cringe and wince...

“heee..heehee...h..a..haha...” Lillian giggled as her eyes rolled madly in her head, unfocused, the pain piercing her...stabbing at her..

Lillian collapsed on her knees that would not support her. Her mouth was lopsided, gaping, and drool was dripping out of the corner of her mouth. She was twitching madly, like some animal that had just been stabbed. Her brain was arguing with itself again, one side being perfectly sane... “Get UP! Stop LAUGHING! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!” it seemed to shout...
But her body was too weak..her mind may know what it was talking about, but the rest of her didn't understand... It was like the connection between mind and body had been stretched to a breaking point..but she wasn't mad-yet...

Desdemona watched in amazement as Lilly giggled through her punishment. It was very nearly disturbing, but for some reason, she thought this was the breaking point.

After a minute of torture, she released the headmistress, and left her for the Great Hall. She needed to feed the woman at least a bit. And this time she was certain there was no chance of escape.

She continued to giggle, though bit quieter now, and she was grinning widely though nothing about the situation was funny. She smacked her lips and started to hum, to no tune in particular..and sang a little bit, “Laaa de doo...da dee dum dee dooo...”... As she sang she walked around the room, stumbling over side-tables and falling onto the floor. She thought she saw master leave from her spot on the floor, but there was too much darkness to see...but she wasn't falling asleep..she wanted to sleep, to not feel or move but she couldn't help laughing...and laughing...and laughing.

After a few minutes of Desdemona being gone, Lillian sat up, looking like a curious child.
"Master, where you go?" She said. She poked her torn dress like an innocent toddler, and looked around the room. She began twiddling her thumbs, her eyes twitching every so often. She still felt the pain, but she was apart from it somehow. It may have sounded comical, it especially looked that way in master's eyes...but it truly wasn't. She was mad, completely out of her mind and head, and the sane portion of what remained could understand that her mind had seemed to separate itself from her body, since her body was in too much pain... So her thought had fled, disconnected themselves from the rest of her, so it wouldn't have to experience the suffering and stabbing sensation that she was now enduring daily.
"Mastah? Come back! We can play your favorite game! The one where I roll on the floor and you laugh a lot."

Desdemona arrived at the office to find Lilly in an almost giddy state. Somewhat bemused, she slapped the pilfered sandwich on the ground and let the starving woman have at it.

She walked to the great desk and once again retrieved parchment and a quill.
"Lilly, you're going to make another decree," she said firmly, setting the writing paraphernalia on the floor.

"MASTER!" Lillian cried.
"I missed you lots!" She ran up to Desdemona when Desdemona was done talking, and hugged the woman. She smiled and sat on the floor.
"Of course I'll write another decree! I'll send it away right now, master!"

And so she did. She wrote the next decree quickly and sent it out even faster. She sat back down on the floor, then grinned up at master. "Oh no master, I couldn't eat this. You must be hungry, you can have it." She was giggling inbetween all her sentences, unhinged and lost. Her eyes were completely unfocused, gazing in almost completely different directions.

She picked up the sandwich and put it neatly back together, for some of the meat had fallen out.
"Here master" She whispered, placing the sandwich in Desdemona's hands, and bowing low. She kept wincing and twitching, as part of her was yelling and begging for release from the prison it was confined to as it tried to escape the pain of starvation and the torture curses that had been thrown at her.
