"we don't know where she is, that portal didn't take her somewhere else in the country, it took her to a fold in space, no one can get in or out through that way, my guess is they'll either defeat the Totema and then we can grab her when she appears, or they'll be killed." Alastair said grimly, getting up and brushing the dirt off of him.
"Alright, good luck, I don't have enough energy for Esuna after this so someone will have to hit you to snap you out of it." Tara said and cast Reflect on Mikuru.

Ace pulls out a piece of paper and a pencil writing down something and opens a portal to where they last saw Zack sending it through "I don't believe my contract with Zack will allow me to bring her back dead..."
To Zack
Zack this is Ace I am at the volcano with Alastair and Tara has most likely died due to a sudden change of events. If indeed she is dead I am not liable in any way so don't get mad at me. Also our deal between the book since if she is dead I wont be getting that lets make another deal for it.

As Zack read the note his expression turned to someone who was wondering what the hell had just happened. He quickly scribbled a reply and threw the note back into the portal before it closed. It read:
Ace,
If she is in fact dead be sure to recover her body for a proper funeral. In my grief I'll let Bikki or Alastair discuss the new terms, reply on her condition AFTER you find out for sure.
Mikuru was only able to get a few steps away from the Crystal before it attacked, however it's spell bounced off the girl.
"So only a few steps away, got it." Raine said and pointed at the crystal and fired an Explosivo spell, exploding it as soon as it connected. "Alright let's move on, everyone take a crystal." Raine said and Tara followed him to the next one.

Xaina nodded before she began shooting at a crystal. Mikuru stayed at the sidelines casting helpful spells. Like haste, and elemental nulls just in case.
"Is there a problem?" Bikki asked.

"I don't think so, at least not yet." zack replied, scratching his head, wondering how Tara's life had come in danger, the monsters weren't going to kill Tara, just distract her long enough for Ace and Alastair to get her.
Raine began hacking at a Crystal then suddenly stopped. What, my body isn't responding, of course, I still have Ultima's contract tattoo, he must be controlling my body since I'm close enough, damn it he's going to attack Tara! Raine thought and then began trying desperately to regain control of his body, but all he managed to do before fading off to sleep was yell "Tara..Ultima..RUN!!"
Tara gasped at Raine's unusual burst and wondered what went wrong, Carbuncle's Reflect hadn't worn off, neither had any of Mikuru's spells. Of course, Ultima has a contract tattoo on his arm, he must be taking control of Raine's body, but I can't fight Raine, and with Ultima the way he is now I'll die. What can I do?! Tara wondered and began backing away suddenly she, Raine, and the Crystal Raine had been attacking disappeared into another room.

((Fine, but I think when you guys read it it's going to be one of those "FINALLY!!" moments))
"Of course, but from how little we know of the Totema it could be any minute or never, the unknown factor keeps me from formulating an accurate guess, but I suppose we should find out any minute or so." Alastair said simply, he didn't want the crystal destroyed, yet he didn't want Tara dead, in the end he'd have to settle for the crystal being shattered.
Tara was blocking Raine's strikes as best as she could, using Protectega to decrease the damage she took from the occasional hit, luckily Ultima wasn't using any of Raine's spells or summons or else she was dead. "Ugh! Raine, please snap out of it. I-I don't want to fight you and I know you don't want to do this, but you need to fight this!" Tara pleaded, she was running out of strength and any blow could render her unable to block the next fatal swing. Finally Tara dropped to her knees, she was out of steam, she couldn't continue, especially without hurting Raine. Figures, it seems like every time I try and tell you something crazy happens and I never get the chance. Well not today! Raine I'm going to let you know! Even if Ultima makes you kill me, I- Tara thought desperately and when Raine was close she used the last ounce of energy she had left to lunge at him. Gripping him tightly and before he could do anything Tara pressed her lips to his and kissed him with everything she had. As she faded out of consciousness Tara thought she heard the sound of a crystal shattering.
Raine suddenly found himself awake and free of Ultima's control and Tara laying on the ground. Oh my God no, he didn't, I didn't, did I? Raine thought furiously and checked Tara for a pulse and breathed a sigh of relief as he found she was still alive. "Thanks Tara." Raine said softly and scooped her up, Ultima's tattoo glowing with the summon's presence. Nice to have you back, what did Tara do that broke your final crystal? Raine asked. "Well, I know how you'll react, but, she kissed you, I must say she has a lot of fight and determination in her, fighting you while trying not to hurt you and keeping on going until she was ready to drop, I could see in her eyes she wanted to tell you something even if it killed her, Raine I believe the girl is in love with you. All I want to know is how you plan to react to this. I honestly don't know, I think I need a little time to get my head straight on this, but until then I think it'd be best if I didn't bring this up, because from what you've shown me from the fight I believe she's been holding this in, don't wanna screw her up just because I was thoughtless. Raine thought and was warped back to the others. "Everyone okay?" He asked.
