Daryl rolled to his feet on the far side, obviously very confused at what had just happened.

The floor of the house seemed to glow from the inside. It was faint, but growing and held a burning scent that tickled the back of their throats.
Kat was closer to the front and got out through a side window not thinking she had the time to make it to the back.

"Kat!" Jarred yelled, hesitating.
"Go, man, I'll look for her."
"Like hell, kid, I'll... oh, she's outside... RUN LIKE HELL!" Jarred and Sam both sprinted out the back, Jarred scooping up Kat, assuming they moved faster.

Daryl stood, dusting himself as they all took off. "What in the hell are you guys freaking out about?!"

Startled, Kat almost smacked Jarred when he scooped her up, until she recognized who it was, and then settled back down.
Daryl's question was answered with a loud explosion taking out the majority of his house.

"Keep moving." Jarred said, pausing briefly to set Kat down before running again. "Keep an eye out for a car. We need some wheels."

"WHAT THE ********!?" Daryl's following screaming and cursing was drowned out by the roar of detonating house, him standing, frozen, watching the debris of his house rain around them, "WHO IN THE ******** DOES THAT!?"

Arch the Angel "Keep moving." Jarred said, pausing briefly to set Kat down before running again. "Keep an eye out for a car. We need some wheels." "I know it's a bad time Daryl, but I told you so." She looked at Jarred, running with him. "You still have your porche by the bookstore." She started to slow her pace a bit, glancing back at the house, a tilt to her chin. After a moment of thought she stopped. "You guys go on ahead. I'll catch up in a bit."

"Ain't that sports car a two seater?" Sam piped up.
"Yes it is, we can't use it." Jarred paused as Kat made to move back. "No no no no no. They're going to figure out we weren't there quickly enough. We have to keep moving while we can, we go back and we die, Kat."

Daryl followed them, at a slightly subdued pace. "So. That's what these guys do? Show up and wreck the place? Tear you apart because they can?" His voice was quite, strained. He was biting back something, but he wasn't exactly making it clear, "What if my parents were home? A friend, anything? They would have just blown them up, too."

"It's a two-seater, but it's possible to squish and get cuddly. There may be some people sitting on laps, but it is possible." Kat shook her head. "I'm not going back to get caught, Jarred. But if I can separate one of them from the others, it's all the opportunity I need. I just need a kiss, that's all. I'll be back before you'll miss me."
Kat briefly turned to Daryl. "No, they'd have just taken you. The explosion and such was more the fault of interference than anything."

He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply. "We gotta take 'em out. Who else have they pulled this s**t with? Jesus... They blew up their own men!"

"Kat, it's not worth it. They're not going to split up, we shouldn't either. We need to leave, now. They'll kill us."

"That's the point, Daryl. That's why we're recruiting." Kat said, giving the poor kid only a momentary glance. She knew she could be more patient with the poor kid, but she wasn't feeling very patient herself.
She gave Jarred a sharp look, chewing on her lip as she tried to think of some way to argue with him. "This would have been my chance to get Linc, Jarred. I would have gotten him....and goddamnit." She pushed ahead with them. Jarred had won, but she was making it clear she wasn't happy about it.

Jarred frowned but didn't say anything, keeping moving.
"Got 99 problems.." Sam muttered to himself with a smile.
