See the phrase 'LA Riots" seems familiar, though this may be due to countless -possibly fictitious movie references-but in 92 I would have been moving from Bermuda to NFLD. Plus I'm Canadian anyway so being all of 5 I probably didn't hear about it.

Rodney King, beaten by L.A. cops. Caught on tape. The DA bungled the investigation. The cops got off and the people went out and tore the city apart. Fires, looting. Cars and buisinesses destroyed. Rodney King eventually came on TV to ask everyone to calm down with his impassioned," Can't we all just get along." It became somewhat of a running joke for awhile.
