Large didn't bother answering. His blade tore a line down the wallpaper as he spun, whipping himself toward them down the hall, his other hand sliding back to his shorter wakizashi. Ephraim's atempt to counter with a dagger was met with scorn; Large easily deflected the tiny, inexpertly-wielded weapon with his sword.

But the girl...! Reinforcements?

No!

Large leaped; he had a powerful jump for such a small man, and sailed right over Ephraim's head to block the path of the fleeing child. He sheathed his katana with a fluid motion as he reached out for Amara's hair. His fingers closed, catching tightly in her cherry locks, and twisted her around to face Ephraim. He pulled her back against his chest, raising the blade of his wakizashi to Amara's neck. His eyes narrowed as he began to back up. "Think you're fast enough?" he hissed at Ephraim, ignoring Amara's whimpers.

Amara froze, paralyzed with fear. Her eyes began to fill with tears, rolling down her cheeks and hitting the blade that was pressed dangerously close to her flesh. She opened her mouth to shout but only one, soft, trembling word escaped her lips.

"... Mommy..."

The noble barely had time to react and by the time he did, Amara was already in the swordmaster's hands.

"That's a dirty trick!" Ephraim screamed. He watched the girl's face soon turn to into a terrified look. Ephraim growled, knowing if he wanted Amara unharmed he'd have to drop the knife and drop it he did. "you don't seriously plan on hurting her..do you..?' he questioned, more worried about HER safety then his own. If the blade wasn't so close to Amara, then he could grab it before it even got to her.

Without any options, Ephraim was left with the only thing he had to ensure her safety. Surrender...

His heart pounded loudly against his chest, wondering if it was a risky move or not, but he didn't want the girl to be harmed in ANY way. If he could get her back safely, then the fight can begin.

He slowly rose from the ground, raising his arms slowly as a signal indicating he surrendered. It wasn't something he wanted to do..but with a lowly trick such as this, he didn't have any other choice.

Large narrowed his eyes, pulling Amara's hair as he growled, "We'll see what I plan on doing... you lead the way to the damn basement, no way I'm letting go. And keep your hands on your head!" he added sharply, stepping to the side and pressing the blade a little more firmly against Amara's throat while he waited for Ephraim to pass by and lead the way. "No funny business, or I'll take her head off on the spot."

"And you," he added to Amara, "You shut the hell up. I won't have your whimpering, now!"

Ephraim would have attacked him in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the fact that he had a blade to Amara's throat. He did as he was told, moved his hands to his head and walked past him toward the stairs. "C'mon Ephraim, there's gotta be SOMETHING you can do..anything!" cursing in the back of his mind. Once they were following behind, Ephraim eyed behind him every 5 seconds to make sure he was keeping his words as to not harm the girl.

They reached toward the main floor and the noble moved aside toward a flight of stairs that were leading further downstairs and he stopped. "Let her go" he demanded, they were at the basement door so what more could he want? The more Ephraim thought about it, the more he cursed to himself on what he probably would have planned and it didn't sound very appealing at all.

Large never did say he wouldn't hurt Amara, but a dead hostage was a useless hostage.

And... something was staying his blade from drawing across her throat. He was certain he could take this unarmed lord down without trouble, so why couldn't he just kill them both and be on his way!?

And yet he continued to lead Amara along, following behind Ephraim slowly, watching him closely, making sure his hands stayed on his head. The book rested heavily against his chest; it made him particularly uneasy, for some reason. It was like a lead weight in his stomach for every act of cruelty.

He moved to the cellar slowly, eyeing the kitchen for a moment and tightening his grip on Amara while he backed toward the cellar door.

Ganon's tongue picked scents out of the air... anger... fear? Salt and sorrow...

The bard twisted his head around and his eye widened. "A-Amara!" he cried, turning toward the child and her unfortunate escorts.

At his discovery, Large narrowed his eyes and started to back carefully down the stairs, bringing Amara along with him. "Get back!" he growled, his arm quivering a bit as he kept the weapon against Amara's neck.

Alihi froze, hearing Ganon's outcry. She turned around from where she was (staring out the window, of course), and completely froze, rooted to the spot.

Amara was about to be taken away from her, and there was nothing she could do to stop it with the blade right at the young girl's neck.

"L-Let her go!!" She shouted commandingly, the fear of her daughter's safety reacting her voice. Her hands squeezed tightly into fists and her eyes narrowed. No one messes with Alihi's daughter without suffering eventually.

Amara just remained silent, too afraid to speak after Large's demand of her silence. Her eyes widened slightly upon seeing Ganon and, more importantly to the red-haired girl, Alihi. Mommy...

"You b*****d!" Ephraim couldn't help but curse, what more could he want? This swordmaster could have easily slayed the unarmed noble yet it now questioned Ephraim. He could have easily killed Amara as well so what was this guy after..? The portal? No, it couldn't have been, that door was sealed and there was no way anybody could get around to it. The basement had NOTHING, nothing to Ephraim's knowledge so why here..?

The noble unthinking, took a step forward but forced himself to stop. He growled, cursing at himself more for not having any type of physical weapon on him "Dammit! No..No! It cannot end this way! If nothing is done then Amara is dead for sure! There has to be something that can give us a hint!" He growled once more, mustering up the most sinister glare he could. "I've lead you to the basement, What more could you possibly WANT? The girl has nothing to do with this so leave her out of this!" It pained Ephraim on the inside, knowing he was with this girl but after all that there was nothing he could have done to prevent this all from happening. "I am to blame and I will fix this..one way or another I will bring her away from this man!"

Turning from hearing a cry, Bartre then saw a person holding up Amara. Ok that b*****d an...yes I could make him fal where he stands with a good shot of my bow...yes just get it right, and he can fall, then we could interrogate him for why he did this.

Reaching back for his bow, he only realized that his plan could end with someone getting hurt badly.

After a while, Aran had returned inside since nothing new was happening. As soon as he opened the door however, he heard Ganon and Alihi cry out Amara! Obviously, there was some person in the house holding her hostage.

"What is going-" Aran stopped as he saw the man named Large taking Amara in a hostage situation, what kind of craven would do such a thing to a child? I'm gonna gut this guy myself if I have too.. Aran quickly strapped his Steel Lance onto his back and took his Javelin, he held it ready to aim.

Looking over, Bartre moved quietly over to Aran, then said, "We may only have one shot. We should make this count, so we can help best we can. We may need more help though. If you can take him with your javelin, I'll use my bow to do the rest, o something else." Stringing an arrow onto his iron bow.

Aran noticed the Warrior whispering next to him, "Agreed, but first we need to see how things unfold first.. You have a better chance with your bow at hitting him than I do with my javelin. He still has Amara though, so it won't be easy..." Aran continued to stay focused but pondered on what they should do..

"As true as that is, we may not get any other chance, so we may as well do what we can to stop him, before something bad happens."

Large was by no means a large man; his size was only in his personality. He was certainly too small a target to try and attack him at range; it would be easy to hit someone like Ganon without hitting Amara, but Large wasn't even five feet tall. Slowly, he backed a few steps farther down. "Don't even try it, bowman," he called to Bartre, "Or she'll be dead before you finish your draw!" A few more steps, down and down to the cellar... He continued to back away and pressed his back to the Door, watching the inevitable crowd that followed. "I ain't here for her, just needed the damn book... got that, so you all just back up an'... and I won't kill her." He narrowed his eyes slowly.

"Stop it." Alihi snapped, full on glaring at Aran and Bartre. The tactician was conflicted between saving Amara and letting Large go. Either way, she wanted Amara to be safe and sound.

Talking about fighting a captor right in front of his face? A very, very good way to agitate him.

"Stand down and back up. We can't risk Amara getting hurt..." She said solemnly, the reality of the situation hitting her as her eyes fell upon the blade. She took a few steps back, holding her hands up to signal that she would do nothing to stop the man. Amara was in a very vulnerable situation, and there was nothing she could do to save her daughter.

All she could do was keep Amara unharmed for longer. "You better be true to your word..." She hissed at Large, unable to keep her anger in check.
