The Shadows that survived the gust were pushed back, only to regain their ground and more. Ten or twenty Shadows leaped up toward the pheonix and ensnared her with their hellish tendrils, wrapped around her body like ropes until she was naught but a pitch-black cacoon with a bird's head. The Shadows loomed closer, hoping to absorb the bird, just as they had so many other Guardians in the past. They closed in... the time to act was now.
((A much darker hug than I anticipated, but it works. Have fun. xd ))

Holly climbed up onto a high tree branch, looking down at the shadows. And up as well, where the shadows were attacking Alhiria. Why couldn't they just leave them alone? Whatever had their group done to keep getting attacked so maliciously?
Whatever the case, Holly was sick and tired of playing around with the darklings. She wanted to rip these things apart with her bare hands, but since it might not be wise to get so close, she made do with her anger. Which, conveniently, triggered her power. The water around her began to boil with her violent attitude.
After a while, the water pooled together, one great bubbling mass around her. Looking up at the shadows surrounding Alhiria, Holly's fists clenched and the water shot straight into the sky for Alhiria's attackers like a geyser.

Calentine could be swallowed by darkness, or....
The midget-warrior twisted out of Alhiria's suprised grip, desperate to descend to the ground, where he could fight with his weapons. Calentine added in a hoarse shout, "I don't need your help, bird, thanks!" but then found that he was falling directly into the shadows. Calentine's last though before embracing the darkness, the shadow, was, Stupid animals.
Onstaan skittered his was through the shadows, dodging and avoiding death/impalement/absorption. At one point, a shadow did manage to grab hold of his tale, asserting a pulling drain on Onstaan's resources. The shadow was merely a minion, however, and when Onstaan, in lizard form, assaulted the minion by putting an enormous amount of Ontaan, the dragon, 's energy resources. The shadow simply disintegrated, as the energy that it was made of was not nearly quite powerful enough to handle the tidal wave of a dragon's power. This left Onstaan dizzy and not altogether feeling great, but still--the outside was in reach.
The dragon reached the door/opening to the Great Sequoia just in time to watch, paralyzed, as Calentine fell....

Shef saw all the fighting in the distance and broke out into a run. He did not know why.
~
In the mean time, Regond's group was also drawing very near the Great Sequoia. Regond's group and Shef's group would converge at the Great Sequoia around the same time, it seemed.

Well,
Kiki had no idea what was going on.
She took her time, placing her hands on her hips.
The fighting was going on around her, and she rocked back and forth on her heels. She was pretty unsure of what she could do.
Kiki shrugged, nodded to some approaching shadows.
Oh- shadows.
Kiki's eyes widened for a moment, and she had to clear her throat.
She laughed nervously as they got closer.
"Hehe..yup-"
Kiki took off in a run.

Kiki's path was also blocked by a large group of Shadow Beasts. Soon, her fate would be the same as that of the phoenix, if she did not make like a monkey and flee.

Regond flew as fast as he could, searching the ground below... until he spotted Shef.
"Oh, thank the stars!" he cried, "Shef!"
He then swooped down until he was level with Shef, flapping his wings as fast as he could to keep up with the running coward.
"Shef!" he squawked, "You must use the swords! I beg you, use the swords to defend your allies!"

Holly felt something huge and scaled brush against her back - and without looking to see what it was, jumped onto it. Narissa had slithered up the trunk of the great tree and over to her Guarded, without a spared word.
Nothing that she had seen had followed them up into the tree, but it was only a matter of time.
Harlin and Damascus were drawn to the same place by the link they shared, where they ended up in a small clearing, fighting back to back - or as close as they could get to it. Damascus ripped shadows apart with claws or teeth and Harlin's daggers flashed a mile a minute, each strike hitting the intended target before he spun out of the way of oncoming blows.
Erin looked on at the scene with inquisitive interest, but she did not wish to take part in it. She didn't feel as though she were responsible, but it was interesting watching everybody, or everything fight.

No one except Falian mattered to her. Sorry guys.---- Marina felt a familiar presence getting closer - her heart was growing warmer. Turning her head, she saw a massive splotch of red burst through the trees across the plain, dashing in the direction of the Sequoia. Her heart flew. "QUEENIE!"---- Queenie felt her heart flutter and she turned her head to see a mass of what seemed to be humans, dashing to the tree as well. Breaking off from the Guardians, she sprinted across the plains towards them. "MARINA!"---- Floreta felt Alhiria's pain as if it were her own, and she cried out, feeling the shadows rip at her soul too. "ALHIRIA!" ---- Alhiria battled mightily against the shadows, lashing out with beak and claws and wings, but there were too many of them. She dully registered the fact that Calentine had slipped from her grip before her entire vision became black. "NO!" "ALHIRIA!"She heard her voice, and her eyes widened. "Floreta..." She tossed her head, screeching. "FLORETA!"Said Guarded felt her power burst from her being - NO!A massive whirlwind burst into life around her- I WON'T LET YOU DIE!The whirlwind vanished into the clouds above only to reappear over the shadowy mass in the air, turning into a vicious tornado as it blasted down, surrounding the shadows and ripping them to shreds and tearing them from the phoenix in an unquenchable fury of bladed wind. Floreta's voice was heard - like a deafening roar - above the wind. "SUFFER!"A final, destructive blow sent the cyclone slamming into the earth, sending boulders and chunks of earth everywhere, regardless of friend or foe. But was Alhiria okay? "You were the person I wanted to be." I wonder what you'd say,
Now that I've torn your life away.
So shudder and shiver and quiver and die.
Do you feel hollow now that you've realized I lied? "Shhhh... let no hate break past your lips."

Kiki stopped.
In front of her were shadows. Behind her with shadows.
That was okay, just.. needed to relax.
Kiki looked above, and grabbed the nearest tree branch, andpulled herself up and over.
She rand towards the trunk and skittered up quickly, hoping there weren't shadow birds.

Oh, but there were shadow birds. Shadow Dragons, actually. Four or five of the fell beasts pursued Kiki through the trees, not stopping for anything. They were beginning to gain up on her, even...
((As for Mayhem's little display of true friendship and... stuff... I couldn't understand that at all. I like the expression, "bladed wind", however. xd ))

Shef instinctively allowed a blade of pure light to form in his left hand, opposite the side Regond was flying on. A shadow jumped in front of him--it was cut down. Shef did not stop for any reason. What propelled him like this? The boy could not understand it, but--everyone else was feeling their inner powers blossom, so why not he as well?
Another shadow was diced to ribbons in one strike, while Shef poured through it. A mass of congealed, shadowy pulp was forming at the base of the tree, where Calentine had fallen....

Onstaan transformed. Into a massive dragon, in the doorway of the Great Sequoia. With a massive amount of energy fueling his transformation, the great dragon shook the very foundations of Ether as he nearly toppled the Great Sequoia (which, unknowingly to any, would have been a heavily disastrous event with consequences too great to even comprehend) in his rush to merge with that blob of darkness, in the hopes of saving Calentine.

Water seemed to materialize out of nowhere within the pooled darkness where Calentine had last been, shooting out and expanding like frozen ice over a specifically dome-shaped area before exploding and cutting the pulp into many tattered shadowy shapes.
Narissa looked for Calentine with Holly on her back, but she could not see much. Too much was happening too fast in a battle such as this.
Holly slid from Narissa's back while the great sea snake coiled up around the base of the tree, hissing and gnashing at whatever came near. Gnashing as only a snake could.
((I have Europa {Globus} stuck in my head. O.o))

Kiki looked behind her as she jumped from one branch to another.
She stuggled, losing energy.
The trees were mossy, and it was hard for her to swing to the next tree.
Dragons, of course, were snapping at her heels.
Without her guardian here, Kiki was substantially slower at this, quicker to lose her energy.
Kiki almost slipped as she ran along. She did fall, but caught a vine on the way. Her body moved forward, straining on her arm. She grunted and slid down to a trunk.
This time her trunk-scaling was rather slow, and she panted.
They were gaining- and she was slowing.
Angeleke's eyes trailed to her hands, strong veins of blue running along.
She was bleeding this strange liquid in some places, little gold flecks floating along in it.
The cuts were minor, not her focus.
Kiki concentrated.
She tried- but all her palms generated was a little spark, enough to maybe make a shadow dragon sneeze.
Kiki stood for a moment, and then had to take off again.

Malis roared, his eyes widened.
"NOT SO FAST!!!" he cried with laughter as he swung his hand toward the massive dragon. In seconds, Onstaan would find himself bound to the earth by a powerful telekinetic force conjured up by Malis.
He then pointed to the dragon, and several Shadow Beasts began to close in on him with the intent of absorbing him.

Regond smiled.
"That's it, boy!" he laughed, "Try more!"
Two more ethereal blades appeared around Shef, ready to do their master's bidding and slay the Shadows that attacked him.
