Ruque shuffled his toes in the dirt. "Corrah scares me," he admitted before Kanis could say anything else. "I like Aragost a lot better ... he's nice."
Aras wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to let everyone know what she thought of Corrah.
"He was boring," she said flatly. "We never did anything with him. He just got us to do the same things over and over again ... and he tried to get us lost in the woods, and made us climb trees and rocks ... and ..."
She trailed off, her expression suddenly growing sad.
"And he just let you play and never ended up training you like he was supposed to," Niyana said firmly. "And before you blame him for your lack of training, remember that you were the one who preferred playing and didn't ask for him to train you."
"He mostly just trained Ruran," Kanis frowned.

"Personally training Ruran was a bad idea..." Lin replied rubbing her back a bit, "It can be good discipline but he shouldn't have been trained how to fight until he could prove he wasn't going to abuse that ability."
Though she had to tilt her head at Aras, that confused her, why did Aras play instead of train? She had always thought Aras was like her as a kid.
"Well.. I'm not one for getting lost, but I had to do a lot of the same things over and over again when I was training.. and I still do," Lin bent over a bit, "My trainer made me to twenty push ups and sit ups every morning and made me do laps around the compound, and then after that I had to go through all my katas. Vincent is a pain but he knows what he's doing, and if I didn't get something right I had to do it again until I did."

"It was Celebor's wish that all of our children be trained as he was," Niyana said softly, rising to her feet again. "Ruque did not want to go with the others, so he stayed with us, but the other three ..."
"But now Ulani's going to be training us, with Papa's help," Ruque beamed happily. "So now I'll train too!"
"But no training for Ruran," Aras said wisely. "Not unless he starts behaving."

"Well that's good, having a way to defend yourself is always good," Lin smiled.
It was a real pity Miyu wasn't sticking around, she thought Ruque might be suited to learn magic as a defense.
"And I'm glad to hear your Dad will be helping, he's a really good fighter."

Niyana reached down and patted Ruque on the head, and smiled at Lin. "Are you the one who trained with him a bit in the Southland?" she asked curiously. "He speaks quite highly of you."
"Maybe we should take Lin to where he's working," Alyse suggested brightly. "I'm sure he would want to see her."

"For a while, Dad wouldn't let me stay a year there," Lin grinned.
Even though she was at times annoyed with her father's restrictions she lived knowing he was just paranoid about her well being, which was his way of saying 'I love you'.
"That sounds like a fun idea," she added to Alyse's suggestion.

"Mind if I tag along?" Timaeus smiled at the two women.
Alyse just laughed. "As if I would go without you!" she exclaimed, slapping his arm playfully. "Come on, he and Neko are up on the mountain a ways. You have a weapon?"
"Always," Timaeus nodded, and though he was grinning he was perfectly serious.
Alyse grinned and turned to Lin. "Come on, let's go!"

Lin watched the two in amusement, they were cute together she had to think. She also had to wonder if she missed something.
"Alright then," she grinned, "This should be a good surprise for Celebor."
"And we'll come too! Right Mommy? Please Mommy?" Naida inquired of Feng patting her mother on the cheek.
Feng laughed, "I guess we'll have to be counted in."

"There's no water on this mountain," Alyse warned Feng and Naida, "but your're welcome to come with us." She turned to Lin. "Lin, do you have a weapon too? I don't, but I have my magic to help me ..."
"It's dangerous in the mountains," Timaeus said quietly, "if you're not prepared for it."

Like Lin could forget that, she had been into some parts of the mountain, but that was a long time ago and with adult supervision.
"I have my fighting knives," she replied.
Those she remembered without thinking about it, her sword wasn't something she thought about because wearing one openly in Gaia was a bit odd. Not that she wasn't already odd.
Feng looked down at Naida thoughtfully, "Maybe we'll go check on Ryu, I'm fine without water in this form, but it'll be a while before Naida learns that."
"But Mommy!"
"When you're older."

"That'll do," Timaeus nodded. "Let's just hope we don't need them."
Alyse nodded to Feng in understanding. "Tell Ryu I hope he's all right," she murmured. "Ruran is a little monster ... I wish there were something we could do about him."
"Besides wringing his neck?" Timaeus remarked dryly.

From what Lin managed to tell Ryu got bit.. and unless the kid had rabies she seriously doubt it was too serious.
"Be nice.... even if he isn't," Lin murmured, "Besides I suspect being nice to him would just annoy him more, especially if it was me."
Which she wouldn't mind really, she really hoped her father and Ruran didn't spend too much time together. Ruran was on the 'suckers' list as far as button pushing went.
"Thanks, I think Ryu will probably be more annoyed than anything else. Ruran irks him," Feng explained somewhat sheepishly.

"Show me someone he doesn't irk," Alyse sighed. "At any rate, we should get going. We'll see you later, Feng."
Timaeus nodded at Feng as well, and waved at Naida before he linked his arm with Alyse's, much as he had with Lin on their way here, and nodded towards some of the northern mountains. "I assume up there?"
Alyse nodded. "Middle of Mount Gynia," she affirmed.

Lin wondered why there, maybe there were materials there or something of that nature. She followed though, glad to have a bit of distraction from the chaos earlier.
Meanwhile Feng turned to and headed to see how Ryu was doing. At least she figured with Ulani there it was probably healed by now, or at least washed out. Who knew where Ruran's mouth had been.

"So how did you find the hunt, Lin?" Alyse asked as they began walking towards the mountain. "I imagine that after so many days of riding, you might have saddle sores."
Those weren't fun. She remembered them from when she was a child.
