"Don't let him bite you....", He said softly, sinking back down to a crouching sit, his feet scooting him back until he met with the wall. Even then his knees curled into his chest- a normal position for him. "Y...you're nice..." He pulled at his lip and laid his head into his arms, closing his eyes to keep in the tears. He hated crying... the other kids used to laugh if they got him to the point of tears after endless teasing. He didn't care to remember haf of the reasons why they got him to that point- many of the children were twice his age or older. The others that were his age had been killed off by a sickness. He was never social so he had been lucky. In a way his condition saved his life but as a child of seven that thought didn't so much as cross his mind. He was unsure about his future though. even if he did want to go back to his tribe he'd no way to find his way back. The wolves hadn't run in a single direction and Lonebrave had run with him upon his back for endless hours- maybe days- in directions that Hinto had easily lost track of in his speed and constant turns. He did remember the sound of crows above constantly- Lone followed them he guessed. Perhaps it was for the best- the outdoors were cold.... at least he had another place to stay for a bit. He hoped that the man would let him stay with him instead of making him go home. He'd only have his old cross uncle to go back to- his uncle who was convinced that the most Hinto could become was a story teller. "All you can do is listen anyway, might as well learn to repeat what you hear and put it to use." He'd say with a puff of his pipe before musing about how he was the youngest brave "back in the day." I never want to hear the old badger grunt on like that again., he thought to himself.

"...Mister Long l-... er... Bran.... C-can I stay here? Please? I'll be good and do lots of chores...", He tried not to sound as pleading, that tone only got him into worse fixes in the past.

"I..." Startled by the abruptness and pleading tone in the request, he stumbles over his own thoughts. "It's a small house..." He warns. "I don't live the way you're used to... I'm not sure you'd be happy here." He's forgotten a lot of things, it occurs to him, maybe far too many. "Maybe you should sleep on it..." The boy is kind enough, a far cry from what HE remembers of children, prone to staring and making up alarming stories about his bloodline and his missing eye, but letting him stay here, wouldn't that almost be the same thing he went through?
He doubts Hinto has any idea what it means to be left standing between two 'worlds'. One foot in each, but part of neither. "It's a small house, and I'm an fur trapper. There's things around here you'd have to be careful of. And trips to town I have to make in the spring. It's a differnt culture and lifestyle entirely. And a lot more work for both of us." He strokes Hakan's fur with one hand, tapping his fingers on the side of the whiskey bottle with the other while he waits to see if he can coax the wolf to drink. "Including the possibility of having to build another room on this place. "I'm not going to abjectly say "yes" Until we've both had some time to consider that...and whatever alternatives you have. Understand?" He tries to make his voice sound a little hard, to make it clear he means it. "Y...you're nice..." How nice could it be to make another HIM?

Hinto nodded slowly. He'd heard of trappers- they were strangers from over the big water mostly from what the stories said. A few months back one had been killed by a mad wolf just by the river. The other had been wounded but came to his uncle's tribe for help. In the boy's opinion it really didn't matter where they came from. They were all the same to him aside from the funny way they talked but even that really didn't matter much. His mother had called them "Pale skins" but obviously that nickname had no effect on the way Hinto saw the strangers. The one that had been in his uncle's tribe was nice enough. Hinto didn't like the fact that he trapped wolves for money but the man had given him the rabbitskin mittens that he wore. This one sounded different from the other ones- a strange accent that was different yet pleasent in its being different to hear. Hinto couldn't help but wonder if the man could sing well, and what sort of songs a "trapper" would sing.

He listened to the man quietly from where he sat, feeling a bit silly for even asking in the first place. The size of the house didn't make much of a difference to him. His home was much smaller back in his homeland- he didn't even care to be indoors anyway whenever he could help it. The mention of another room for him also seemed a bit unessicary. He'd sleep on the floor if there wasn't room for him- it was warm enough and he was tired enough from all the travels and long nights in cold dens that he could probibly sleep hanging upside down if only to be warm.

"I understand." He said quietly after a long pause. Perhaps his request to stay was rude. His mother always scolded him for being too forward with what he wanted, "...was.... was I rude to ask you that? I'm sorry... I just don't want to be lost aga-" He paused and sneezed a few times into his hand, forgetting where he was going with his conversation, "'scuse me..."

"I'm not...I'm not saying you can't stay..." Bran tries to explain, strongly debating weather or not to take another drink. "I'm just saying...I don't know I'm what you're looking for. I don't know how to explain it better." He sighed, frustrated and thinking of his own childhood. He'd felt...very at home here, in the woods, in a village when he was small, and then he'd gone across the ocean with his mother, and suddenly he'd felt alien. His looks were just native enough that most people here hadn't really questioned it, and in a small village, everyone knew anyhow...but then all those disaproving eyes.

"I'm not looking for anything...", He was a bit confused by how Bran was wording things, the man seemed a bit troubled, "I just want to live somewhere away from the mean kids. They make fun of me." Another thing he didn't like bringing up was the fact that he was picked on. His mother would wag her finger in his face (he knew this because on occasion she would flick his nose in the process) and tell him that no one liked a whiner and he was to take it like a man. Of course she didn't have to deal with the laughter and pranks. It was easy to prank a blind child and the other children seemed to delight in doing so as the pranks grew predicable for eachother after a time. Snowballs down the back of his shirt, his stick being taken and tossed into the woods, a circle of them snapping sticks at a distance when he walked in the woods- he knew them all too well.

"LERA! LERA!"
she heard from the distance. She took one last look to her son, daughter, selia and her pup, before runningg, dashes, leaping over the snow. Many scents filled her nose, including the scent of blood. Her pack wolves laid scattered, and even Fea was there. The scent of humans was noticable. Confusion seemed to reign, but most of the wolevs seemed to be collecting near the humans. Lera saw haku coem into view, and slowed just a bit to greet him before rusuming her run again, past any wolves who were on the way to the human's house, where members of her pack, including her daughter, resided.

If Bran knew that Lera was on her way to his house, he'd no doubt be baracading the door instead of trying to figure out a method to sedate Gaara to the point where trying to stitch his injuries was safe. Or rather, do the baracading first, and the stitching after. However, he's fortunately aware of this, at least for the moment.
"Kids are like that. It's a fact of life. Usualy they grow out of it, or at least learn to hide what they're thinking. They don't know how to handle something strange, so they deal with it in the only way they know how. They're just trying to feel strong."

Leradien was indeed on her way her body speeding forward very quickly. He rneck held out straight, her tail erect and ears forward; Lera walked with the confidence of an alpha and her gleaming golden eyes kept on the taget ahead: bran's house.

Her large paws spread on the now frozen snow, keeping her aloft as she tread. She could smell blood, Lexi, Gaara, and her daughter, Keara, all in this man's house. Lera had no hard feelings against Bran but apparently their last encounter had shaken things up a bit. She approached, silent as an owl floating on air towards its prey. Hidden by shadows and cloacked by shrubbery she looking into the dimly lit hut with curiosity. So this was a human's den...

Blast it all! There was no way in...a large plank of wood seemed to keep her from entering. Lera circled around the house: no way in. She grunted and then sat by the door. She knew this human was quite weary of her seer abilities, and last time she had mink-spoke he had rather...'flipped out'. And so she laid a paw to the door, scratching at the wood to be let in.

Bran frowns and lifts his head to listen as something scratches at the door to the cabin, and stands up slowly, crossing the floor and pulling a long hunting knife out of it's sheath. If something is close enough to scratch the door, it's far too close to shoot.
He's hoping it's nothing more than the black and Orange Alpha, come to look in on things, but he really has no way of knowing. He huffs slightly, consideringly, his hand on the doorhandle as he leans to try and peer out the window, seeing nothing like the lurking shape of a bear...
"Stay there a second Hinto...Damn it...all these interuptions..." He opens the door partialy and leans out one hand resting on the frame, most of his own body obscured by the door, the better to slam any invading creatures in the door if he's fast enough.
"I'm not an inn!" He grumps at the night. "Go bother someone else!" He's frustrated by the interuptions, and worried about Gaara's injuries, and the fact he hasn't been able to tend to them thus far. If he tries now though he's like to loose a finger. God knows he can't trust Hinto to help him if he gets hurt...or he'd rather not anyhow...

The door creaked open, and Lera noticed the human's face peering from behind it. The scent of Gaara, Lexi, and Keara became stronger as if opened and all kinds of unkown scents came to her. Golden eyes preered inside, if only for a few moments. She took it as an act of allowing her to enter. And so she did. Lera was swift and entered to small gap of the door without any problem. If Bran was to slam the door it would have probably just nicked the end of her tail. But these humans couldn't exaclt ybe trusted. And who knew what their reaction time was. For all Lera knew she could easily end up witha few broken ribs.

Lera meant no harm to this humans, and cared not for his presence. All she knew that her pack members, and even potentially her daughter, were injured.

A new sound- scratching... claws. They weren't as big as he imagined a bear's sounding or as sharp as he imagined a mountain lion's but they were definately from something large. Bran got up, the creaking of the floor and the heavy thud of the man's steps betrayed that well enough as well as his movement towards where the door had to be judging from the direction of the scratches. He let his eyes open again, the empty blue orbs searching for the true direction of all the noise. He heard Bran speak then open the door with a creak. A louder creak and the sudden clicking of claws on the floor told him that whatever it was had gotten in. Another wolf by the sound of the steps on the wood- it wasn't Lonebrave, it was far too small. "It got in..." He said quietly, his empty eyes tracing the she wolf's movements. Not that he really needed to point out the obvious. He knew that the man could see just fine, it was more or less to himeself. Another wolf... just wonderful. It was probibly angry too, snarl and snap like the others in the house had been doing. If at all possible he curled further into himself, holding his stick very close to him so tight that his knuckles had begun to whiten again.

Suuru watched from outside the window. He felt it his responsability to make sure that the man accepted the pup into his pack before leaving to find his pup friend again. So there you are..., He addressed the she-wolf in thought, knowing very well that she'd hear him, I fly forever only for you to find me. How annoying you creatures can be. He ruffled his feathers to block the cold, shaking some newly aquired snow from his beak, When you're done stressing about the condition of the wolves who are obviously being treated for wounds I would like to have a few words with you... that is if you can hold off from snapping at me long enough to listen to reason.

((acctually Lera is *pretty* big as far as female standards go. I wouldn't image her as large as Fea but she wouldn't be considered *that* much smaller n_n; ))

"I noticed!" Bran curses as the wolf breezes past him. "Goddamn it does this look like an...oh HELL AND DAMNATION! NOT YOU!" He bursts out without entirely meaning to yell, but his last encounter with Lera was...less than freindly. "You damn witchwolf! Get out of my house! I'm not putting up with your threats when Hakan's hurt!" His thoughts mimic his words, he's feeling far less intimidated on his own turf, and with something to defend, and he shifts the knife in his hand agressively, ready to fend off the attack he expects from the alpha she-wolf.

Lexi jumps up, snorting warily at Bran and the ruckus he raises at Lera's arrival, although she can understand his reaction, given the previous encounter. Tit for tat maybe? SHE has no idea what he's saying so there's no way to know.
"Gaara and Keara both went down the ravene!" She explains quickly, shaking herself out. "And Feanaro brought the human-cub." She wrinkles her nose slightly and motions to the Huddled Hinto. "I don't know what he's doing but he doesn't seem to have hurt them...just...put stuff on the wounds. Gaara seems to trust it...he lived with humans once as a pup...But you probably knew that..."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 18, 2005 7:12 pm

(( o.o; Fea's wolfzilla xd ))

He shook his head, covering his ears with one hand and burying the other in his shoulder. All the noise was confusing and scaring him- Bran sounded more angry than any hurt wolf he had heard so far. Wolfs barking, Bran yelling, doors opening and closing, crows cawing- it was all too much to pick out. He could only imagine what was happening. At least there against the wall he seemed safe from all the chaos.

((Short crappy post of doom whee ))

Lera took notice to the human child, her eyes almost as pale at his own face with a stick in it's...er...paw? Wether if it was for defense or something else, she didn't really want to find out by being hit with it and so she avoided the child...for now. But then he whispered something and then a roaring blur of jibberish came from the human male. All Lera knew knew was that he was just being LOUD. Her neck turned, to position her head to be looking over her back. She looked to the human with golden eyes and cocked a brow, although it might have just been a nuance he didn't pick up on.

She saw the knife in his hand and knew well what that was yet her visage appreared to be little more than annoyed. She kept a careful eye on his hand though, if inacse he was to attack. Funny how both beings were prepared for the other to attack...

Yet Lera lowered her head, sniffing around the cabin. Her nails click-clacking on the wooden floor. She investigated for a moment before Lexi appeared with the news of the recent events. She allowed a few moments for the information to set in, but remained silent. She gave a calm nod to Lexi and then another glance to Bran.

Lera then stood on her back legs, resting her front paws on the table where Gaara laid. Looks like he had a very serious wound on his chest and other areas around his body. She inspected the damage wilently.

As she was inspecting she heard a mind out in the distance. The crows...
I will meet with you later. She stated quickly, the dark bird was the least of her worries right now....
