My species... we get our power from various things... the souls of other races is one of them should a person choose that route. Though another good source is what we eat or drink. Toxic ingredients and any extra food ingredients from overeating or unwise eating get turned directly into energy.
No human could drink that stuff without getting alcohol poisoning. If I lost my powers, it would probably be fatal to drink.
Though one time I got an instant power boost from eating poisoned candy made to lure pests to their death. rofl

Oh geeze! I wonder if I should give her some burn lotion or something..? She opens a small portal to pull out her mini potions cabinet and fumbles through her stock. Her hands were unsteady so she dropped a couple of bottles which shattered and started to mix its contents on the bar floor. Its gotta be here somewhere....
