JAPANESE MOMENT! 8D
Each kanji (usually) has two readings, the Chinese (which is usually used for compound kanji words) and the Japanese (which is usually used for single kanji words). In this case, the kanji for 'cow' is 牛. The Chinese reading is 'gyuu'. The Japanese reading is 'ushi'. So, when you have compound kanji like 牛肉 (gyuuniku, beef), 牛丼 (gyuudon, beef bowl), or 牛乳 (gyuunyuu, milk) it's read as gyuu. When it's by itself, 牛, it's read as 'ushi' and literally means cow.
You'd never use 'gyuu' to refer to a cow, the animal, but it does mean the same thing. xD

Homecoming is kinda like one of those school dances/prom things, where they nominate a homecoming king/queen, etc., etc.. and is usually held around the start of the school year.
So basically, what Gino's gonna win. ;0
