A little more information.
You can only get 510 points total in all stats combined and 255(or half those points) in any one stat. After you have reached the maximum it won't count if you try to add more.

Well, when I was lost,
I suppose it's good advice to stay where you are
until someone finds you.
But who'd ever think to look for me here?  ..... sweatdrop ..... I think I'll try to master the "art" of EV training before I tackle anything else. Sounds like it'd be really helpful though. ^^ Good advice.

The pokerus doubles the points you recieve. So if you beat a goldeen while infected with pokerus it will give you 10 instead of 5. Seaking give 2 points so 2+4x2= 12. If you keep a pokemon with pokerus in your boxes it won't recover and you can use it to infect other pokemon. Pokerus is passed by having the pokemon with pokerus in your party and going into a battle.

Oh, and you only really need 252 points to get a stat as high as it will go. The last 3 points aren't much but you could pay them into HP and maybe get an extra couple hit points. It could save you in a pinch. ^_^
Edit I believe that's all the info I have aside from a couple good places to train for certain stats.

another note...
although individual stats cap at 255. you get 1 stat point per 4 EV's if you do the math, then that means the last point you can get is at 252. leaving 3 left over points.
combine this with the 3 points from another stat raised to 252, and you have 6 points, enough to put 4 EV's into a 3rd stat.
this sin't a HUGE deal, but helpful to know.

Oh yah, you can see if you've gotten the maximum amount by going to Blackthorn City and talking to one of the girls in the little house to the north-east of the pokemon center. If your pokemon has the maximum she will give it an effort ribbon.

I believe that's everything I know about EVs. Aside from the stat lowering berries and that's not really important.

so what I do...
I only fight things that give 1 EV... ex) in the spot where there are goldeens and seakings, I run from the seakings.
this way, I know I get 10 EV's a battle.
and I keep count of how many goldeen I killed, until 25. at that point I take the power bracer off and kill 1 more goldeen.
alternately, you can allow yourself to kill only one seasking, and forgo the last step.
taht way you know you have 252.
the best places that i know of are...
psyducks, surfing in the helix(?) forest, the forest to the left of the bug leaders house. they give SP. Atk.
tentacool's, srufing almost anywhere, sp. def.
goldeens, to the right of euruteak??, the spot herm mention'd. atk.
grimers, surf by old mans house in celdon, HP
magikarp. surf in the water's below the lake of rage.
Im missing the def pokes... I think I used tengela's to the right of the town below lake of rage...
sorry for the lack of town names, I navigate based on location on the map, thus Ive forgotten the names

That...is a lot more sensible than what I've been doing xD I think I may take your method from you, if you don't mind. ^^ Oh, and don't worry about forgetting the names. The only regions I really know are Kanto and Johto, even though Hoenn was always my favorite. xd Good advice.
