Have you looked into any of the scholarships that are available for you local area, or just in general? Most places have the Pale Grant or the Hope Scholarship. They tend to help with alot of the class expenses (not including books)

If I could, I'd give you some of my GI bill. I've not been able to use it because of the constant amount of work I have to do.

That, in itself, sucks. I really want to start working on my language degree. X_x

I need to take a look at scholarships, but like I'd mentioned in my last post, I wasn't sure if I was able to get any due to graduating over a year ago. Vin says yeah though, so perhaps I'll be able to get some help from those.

Thanks for the thoughts, though. I'd feel guilty to even think about accepting any cash from anybody though, cause god knows I wouldn't be able to pay it back for a loooooong time. x_o; lol

Yea I believe you can get scholarships when ever. I currently have one that I have 10 years to use.
I would also look in to FASTFA, because they have money for people whose parents cant afford to help.
And I belive that there are student loans that you could find... I cant remember what they are called, but I know theres one or two.

I'll look into the scholarships again, but as I'd explained in a previous bout of emo, FAFSA will give me nothing because my father's income is too high. It's too bad he and my mother waste it. sad They don't care for me to go to college since neither of them (or anybody else in their family tree upwards) had, so they basically see it as a waste of time and money. They don't want to help me out with it. Technically, my parents can afford to help. They just won't.

There's lots of third-party companies that offer student loans, but to sign onto one, you need good credit, or a co-signer with good credit. I have neither, as my parents filed bankruptcy, and I don't even have a credit rating yet.

Still a bit emo feeling today. x_o Would kinda like to go talk to a psychiatrist, which is strange, because any other day I'd be all "rawr stfu" towards them.

PETER! I see a PETER is online! *gigglesnort*

@ Alex: You might be elligable for a Pell Grant (unsure of the spelling) that's for intelligent students from poor families. Caran had one for her freshman year of college.

Eve: I'll look into that, thanks. heart Depending on their definition of poor though, I'll likely not qualify for the same reason as the FAFSA. My father makes a good chunk of cash. He just wastes it. So I suppose it all depends on whether or not they look at full family income or just what's allotted to me (ie. just about zilch, ahah).

@Eve:
Hola Chika~! How have things been?

@Alex:
Aye. I'd help you out on the co-signer, but I've learned from a thing or two that that is a bad bit of business to do.

You could try and get a low funded credit card, making small amount payments on it over the course of 4-6 months. (Not what you want to hear, but its a start) and then try to see if your credit score went up.

I don't have any Credit Cards, but I had a student loan through the college I attended, and I pay that off X_x

The more things that are in your name that you pay off, the more credit you get, I suppose. (Has no idea what his score is, or how good/bad it is. X_x )

If you want to chat.. let me know. I've got time to kill, and you've got a hole to fill ^_~

*nods*

We have friends that work AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta) and MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention). We would room with them, but they are usually pretty busy during the con and work off hours, so sleeping is always awkward.

Whoops, sorry, disappeared @_@ lol

Yep, I'm gonna get myself a credit card and pay off small things on it as soon as I use them, and I'm going to do a few secured loans with the bank.

Quote:
One popular type of secured loan that is normally only available at a bank or credit union is the savings secured loan. In this type of loan, the borrower must have a savings account with the creditor. A portion of the money in this account is used as collateral to secure a loan equal to the amount pledged. This money is then frozen in the account but continues to earn interest. As the loan is repaid the secured portion of the savings account is freed. This has advantages for both the creditor and the borrower. If the borrower defaults on the loan the collateral is already in the creditor's possession so it is a very low risk. As a result, the creditor usually offers a much lower interest rate. The disadvantage of this type of loan is that it is limited by the available fund in the savings account.

Hopefully that'll be enough of a credit rating within the next six to twelve months to get me in the door of a third party student loan office.

If you'd like to chat, I'm all for it. Not sure how much longer you'll be around though. :0
