Raven_Darkholme About as well as could be expected I suppose. I'm almost going bonkers now because it's so close. I feel the exact opposite about bthe new issue of X-Men that comes out tomorrow. I have a baaaaaaaaad feeling about this. Not just from previews but also the fact Gambit isn't even on the team anymore. sweatdrop

Well, if youre worried about it, best he's not on the team then, eh? Otherwise, you blink, next thing you know you're the next incarnation of Death.
Personally, I'm sweating bullets over the next two issues of the Legion of Superheroes....because if things do not go the way I expect, Mark Waid is in for some cruel fangirl glaring come Chicago Con.

Actually what upsets me is that at one point Gambit was one of the more valued and intriguing characters in the X-Men lineup. His popularity was thru the roof with X-fans. Now he's been made a joke, a second-hand teammate and nothing more than Rogue's beau.

I liked the art, just not the story. Although it was fun seeing that incarnation of the Justice League. It made me realize, however, that ever since ICBINTJL, every time I see Ice, I get a mental image of the splash page with Guy and Fire. crying

Now he's been made a joke, a second-hand teammate and nothing more than Rogue's beau. He was best on his own. Like Logan. Giving him a team spot just...doesn't work anymore. He oughta just go back to New Orleans and have his own series with a decent writer and artist, and have his own solo adventures without being made an a** clown anymore. And I used to be all for Rogue and Gambit relationship, because it was an interesting concept. A man who loves physicallity with women is in love with the one woman he can't touch. And the fact he STAYED with her for so long, even after her abandoning him in Antarctica, shows some sort of truth to his seriousness to her and it gets written off so easily by stupid writers. I firmly believe Logan should be removed from all the teams. He does better on his own because he's a loner anyways.

Hell, during the late 70's, you were practically on the Legion team.

I honestly liked seeing Gambit, as brief as it was, playing just off being a thief in X-Treme X-Men. His best outfit, too. I think he outta go back to that costume. I liked seeing him toy with Vargas in stealing the diamond. Working for his own agendas.

Problem is after that horrendous display in Gambit's last self-title I doubt he'll be getting another chance. Especially in how he's been treated recently. It's like the writers are reducing his fan base or trying to and that would never warrant another shot at a self-title.
Hell let me write the damn thing. What any self-title needs is a writer that is a fan of the character. But yes, the team thing was never Gambit's forte'.
I don't know if you ever read his New Sun series, but IMHO, the only three people he ever interacted with as a team (outside of the X-Men and that's not saying much) that made for high entertainment was; Belladonna, The Courier and Fontanelle. Especially the Courier. Those two were a riot together.

I've got a few issues with the Courier. It's funny when he gets turned into a female.
I've also got number 25 of that run. I liked that one. He's out on his own, not depending on supporting x-men cast. I loved how he dealt with the big black guy who shows up and he fries his braces. I loved that scene.
But yeah, I don't expect much out of comics anymore. Especially with 616 verse. Too many stories and writers and series and too much to pay attention with.
At least Ultimate gives a fair treatment to things in my eyes. Yeah, Logan gets over played like always, but they've toned him down in the X-men books. And the Ultimates series is always politically fun!

I'm really suprised that gambit wasn't part of the new avengers. stare they seem to be taking everyone who shouldn't be on the team and sticking them there.

Try collecting the whole series. It's well worth it.
