Herk.

The Herold Angels sing.

I don't know why but every time Desi uses the word herk I think of that song.

I chuckled when Dante snarked about how everyone has fancy magical weapons and wouldn't be impressed by mundane things, as I realized that but for Kael it's probably true.

And then remembered that JB may well be giving him a magic-y sword in the immediate future- one that he will actually keep despite it's possibly being magic-y.

Though somehow I expect he'd prefer not to use it except for particular purposes, had he another available blade.

Oh I don't mind fancy magical weapons really (well mostly)... I just get uppity because they just seem to come from nowhere. Quest items, given items and loot from defeated enemies are all great reasons for obtaining a magical or special item.

But I think it should appear from something more substantial then back story. But then again I'm a fan of the old rusty piece of crap that you found on the body of that black knight GM trick that turns out to really be a Great sword +7 of orc-slaying and only looks that way until its owner uses it in battle...

But in freeform I suppose its harder to acquire such items from others.
Edit; plus Im an a*****e and I have to have something to complain about. To be entirely honest Id really prefer to see lots of Smiths in Levi and on Gaia, hence why I miss Sienna so much. It was nice to be able to give all sorts of items to the RPing community and let legends grow... I guess I just find that kind of progression and working for something valuable interesting.

I almost prefer mundane weapons anymore. Reyin's sword isn't anything special, and Athan's is only special in that it's freakin' huge.

My sword doesn't need to shoot fireballs.

I prefer mundane weapons - the wounds they cause are a lot easier to cure! stare Effin' magical blades of everbleeding and insta-kill.

A good sword in the hands of a good Swordsman can work miracles IMHO. I'll admit I've made some out there magical stuff in my day, but I always preferred the more subtle effects.

But theres something special about some weapons, though I separate mundane weapons from special weapons without magic having to be involved.

Mundane weapons are weapons made for a normal person or a soldier, of good enough quality to do their job and nothing more. They will probably live out their service life and be lost on a battle field or discarded after a time.

Special weapons or 'Living' weapons are ones that are made to a high standard, I suppose you could also call them heirloom weapons. Though these can be magical I don't see it as a requirement to fit in this class.
