**Enter Maggie from Library, 28**
*Maggie hurries in from the hallway, just in time to see Bard leave*
Bard . . ! *she calls after him, darting across the room to try and catch the door before it closes - but she gets there a split second too late*
Nay! *she grips the doorknob, trying to yank it open again, but to no avail.* Why...? Why are ye doing this!? *she asks, though whether it's of Bard or the Brink is hard to say. Her voice breaks halfway through, and she lifts one hand to cover her eyes, her other still clenched around the doorknob* Why are ye doing this . . ?

*The corner of Luke's lip pulls back. He thinks - Uh-oh. He's seen this scene before....*
*He remembers the conversation with Bard in the hallway.*
*Crap. s**t. He broke up with her. Aw, and she's torn UP.*
*Luke casts a concerned look at Maggie. He ... No, no it's not his scene man.... He looks at K, looks at Maggie, looks at K, shrugs like 'what can -I- do? do I look like Oprah?'*

He hurries over to Maggie, and pulls her shoulders away from the door gently:::
Hey...hey, Maggie...sshh...What happened? What's the matter?

*Maggie lifts her head in surprise as K moves her away from the door, then glances over, spotting Luke. She hadn't even registered them there . . . she reddens, terribly self-conscious now on top of being upset. There are tears in her eyes, and she quickly swipes at the ones that have spilled down her cheeks*
I . . *her voice comes out a little shaky* I'mna entirely sure . .. *she answers, honestly*

*For Luke, it's getting to be that time again. Yup, yup...time to hit that dusty trail.... He could probably sneak past them, but they're still blocking the door. Then he'd have to push past them, and that's pretty damned inconsiderate, even for him...*

*Maggie looks half ready to burst into tears again . . . and half just very uncomfortable. K puts his arms around her and she instinctively pulls away a bit. She's seen and spoken to him several times in the Brink now, but she hardly knows him well enough to feel at ease with such open affection*
Kal . . . thank ye, but . . . *she rubs her temple a little, frowning deeply*
*She looks up again as Luke speaks . . . he looks about as uneasy as she feels right now. She's upset and embarrassed and suddenly she's homesick in a way she hasn't felt in a long time . . .*

*Luke sends a quick glance at K like "What?!" He didn't want to hear about it. Maggie would have to be delirious to hope to get anything half-way productive out of Luke...*
*He takes a moment to stare back down at the ground... and then looks up at Maggie.*
*They make eye contact and Luke half opens up his hands. For one sincere moment, he thinks, "I'm sorry"*

*Maggie just stands there awkwardly, on the verge of crying, but holding it back. She appreciates the care behind K's words and actions, but . . . she's in the spotlight, and right now that's the last place she wants to be*
*She glances up to catch Luke's look, and then sighs quietly*
Thank ye . .. both of ye. Right now I . . I just . . . *she pulls away and walks over to the key rack, lifting her key from the board and studying it sadly*
