"Call it natural instinct..." She started. "Better to be safe then sorry."
Reaper turned around lift her blade letting it rest upon her shoulder as she faced this man. He was right..his sword wasn't nearly as big as hers. But size was never a matter when it came to battles. It was all about skills and smarts. She let a grin come to her pale lips.
"All the time, sir." Reaper answered.
Man, he was older then her though. Probably, most likely has more experience then her. She was still highly learning one of the reasons why she came here. So she could raise her skills even further before setting out once more on her journey. But then again..it didn't matter how old you were for no matter what age you are at you are always learning something new.
With that in mind she took a few slow steps back to put some space between the two of them. Holding her sword with both of her hands before her the tip pointing upwards just above his head really. Her right foot place back a foot or two behind her left. Bent at the knees a bit as she stood there ready.
"What are the rules to this engagement?" She asked.

Shin coulden't believe it. This woman actually wanted to fight. He let go of his sword and stood upright. He burst out laughing, his laughter rang throughout the forest. He had his right hand on the back of his head and was rubbing it.
"I didn't think you actually wanted to fight, but if you wish, I can manage a small spar."
He stood at attention and saluted the woman.
"No rules for this bout, safe for no killing. I am Shin Menoskaye, Second Captain to the Kyonuske"
He smiled in a devilish sort of way.
"Your move..."

Yep..it had been confirm. Reaper was going to so lose this small spar between them. But she always learned something new from losing she never complained about losing. As long as she gets something out of it. Watching as he stood upright and burst out in laughter which just confirm her first thought even more.
Then Reaper heard his rank and her spirit dropped to the forest floor. Oh yea..she was defiently going to lose. Might as well make the best out of it though. It would keep her busy rather then wondering through this bloody forest for hours. She bowed in return to his salute.
"I'm Reaper of the Shadow Dwellers." She stated. The last in my village...
Reaper really didn't want to make the first move but she would accept and respect his offer. Swing the sword in her right hand she stopped it so the blade was behind her facing the trunks of the trees. Taking the first step forward in a charge. Once reaching about six or seven feet near him she would spin off her left foot bringing the blade around with her. Making the blade come horizontally towards his torso.

Shin grinned at the attack. He was still in his saluting position but that did not mean he was prepared for the assault. As she took her steps forward, Shin counted quietly to himself.
One...two...three...
He lowered his hand from his salutation and watched her spin the blade with such grace and care, redirecting torwards his torso in a horizontal slice. He wondered to himself, Should he attack? Block? No, he thought he would have some fun.
Her movements were slow motion to him as the blade drew nearer. He hopped up slightly, rotating his body sideways. He flicked out his right wrist and touched cold steel. He held his body, balancing upside down on her blade, supporting his entire body weight with just his right hand.
"Too Slow..." He taunted.

Reaper stood there for several seconds after her spiral attack. Her eye slowly climbing up from Shin's hand..up that arm and shoulder till her eye met his face. Her single eye glancing into both of his as he balance himself upon her blade. Oooooooooooooooooooooooh yea, she was going to so lose this spar. She could tell he wasn't even trying not yet and probably won't even have to.
Reaper turned the blade as she started to turn her body completely around like she did with her first attack. But, this time she held the blade behind her back switching it to her left hand as her right heel came to strike him sideways through the air. That is..if he didn't already move from that position from which she took his balance beam away from him.

The sword flew from underneath him, unstabled him, and made him fall off...except he expected it from her. As the blade fell from him, his body fell as well. With no time to right himself, Shin found himself touching the ground instead of the blade with his hand. He was still upside down...only on the ground instead of where he wanted to be.
The heel came quick, quicker than he thought, but with her momentum...he could only assume. He had only moments to react, either he let the heel land a blow, or he did something about it. The second decision...yeah, he liked that better.
With Shin's left and unoccupied hand, he moved it forward with lightning speed and grabbed hold of her ankle. Now, although it didn't look like it, he had the advantage. He gripped her ankle tightly and pulled on it. This sudden yank lifted Shin from the ground and propelled him, quickly torward her face. The yank would also pull her forward and, slightly off balance.
He aimed his right foot at her face, and was closing in fast. Although at the position he was, he didn't expect her to be able to dodge it, he always loved being suprised.

Reaper's foot didn't even get a chance to strike her target. Her eye widen feeling fingers lock around her ankle and a sudden tug. Seeing the sole of his shoe coming straight at her as she started to lose balance on the single foot she was standing on. Her mind racing quickly about what she could possible do to not get hit in the face. There wasn't anything she could do about it.
So she went on the offensive. Her unoccupied hand snatch hold of one of the daggers around her waist and threw it at him. Considering he was so close there was no way he wouldn't be able to dodge it like how she wasn't able to dodge his kick.
Shin struck her straight in the face making her head get thrown back as she fell downwards towards the earth. Feeling something pop when his foot came in contact with her face. Tasting blood in her mouth that was beginning to flood it. She hit the ground hard and fast knocking the wind out of her lungs.

The blade was quick. But he coulden't let it hit him. He saw the knife fly straight torwards his head. Once again, slow motion came to him and he altered the position of his head. The blade grazed him, cutting off a few stands of his hair. The dagger lodged itself into the ground with his hair.
He turned his head and glared at her. The momentum from the initial kick sent him up and over. Before her head hit the ground, Shin launched himself upward off her face. He spun slightly and redirected his body downwards, pulling out his sword and landing on the ground with the sword laying horizontally and dangerously close to her neck.
He smiled in a way but kept his glare.
"Dont touch the hair..." He said amusingly.
Shin stood up and replaced his blade. He crouched over her and looked into her eyes.
"You fought well, need help?"

Reaper laid still as the sword came horizonatly above her neck taking slowly small breaths so her neck wouldn't rise up too much when she breathed. Too bad the knife didn't get more of his precious hair then. Once his blade was taken away she would run her tongue along her teeth to see if he loosened any of them for her. He hadn't..thank god for that.
Her right eye opened finding Shin staring down at her. "..getting up..."
She turned her head and spit out a good bunch of blood onto the soil.

Shin held out his hand to help her.
"Not bad. Considering you were of course challenging a Vice-Captain. Sorry for the whole blood spillage."
He smiled to try and make it better.
"What brings you to the forest? You better come with me to the encampment for first aid." And with that, Shin walked torwards the encampment. Suddenly he stopped and looked at her. He walked up to her and lifted her up, carrying her bridal style. He wanted her to conserve her strength, plus it was the least he could do. He carried her off torwards the encampment and his tent.

Reaper took his hand and pulled herself up onto her own two feet. Whipping away the blood that dripped down over her bottom lip onto the back of her right glove which only covered about three whole fingers. She moved her jaw around a bit feeling another pop. Reached down grabbing hold of her broadsword and sliding it back into the scabbard hanging from her waist.
Slowly turning around watching him start to walkoff towards this encampment he spoke of. Moving her jaw about for several more seconds to make sure nothing was broken. About to answer his question when she noticed him coming back to her. Her eye widen as he suddenly lift her up into his arms bridal style. Her arms wrapping around his shoulders to keep herself sitting somewhat up in his arms.
This was certiantly a realy awkward feeling. Considering this would be her first time being carried like this since her time as a child. She couldn't be hurt that much could she? It didn't feel like she broke anything..it couldn't have been anything serious.
"...I heard there was an academy around these parts.." Reaper started. "So, I came here hoping to raise my skills further more. But..I got lost in here. I arrived early this morning."

He looked down at her in his arms. He listened to her story and smiled, looking into her eyes. Upon reaching the encampment, Shin walked into his tent and set her down on his bed. He checked her face and cleaned it up. He wanted to check her body for further injuries but refrained himself, it would have looked like he wanted "something" out of her. He immediatley pulled his hands away, blushing slightly, only to busy himself with making tea. She was attractive... but he wasn't going to tell her that.
"Yeah, there is a Stadium up the road. But I would not reccommend you go there. All who enter might die. There is blood everywhere, and even us Kyonuske are hiding. Best wait it out here with us. You can stay in my tent if you'd like.." He thought he should ask, he still blushed slightly.

Reaper's eye would glid over the encampment as Shin continued to carry her till he brought her into a tent where she was set down upon a bed. Where she released her hold on his shoulders and let herself be set down easily. Staying still as he checked her face for any great injury and even cleaned off the dried blood and such. She whispered a thanks after words it was the same time when she saw some red come to his cheeks.
Was he blushing? Why was he blushing? Her lush green eye watched as he turned and started to make some tea. It smelled like green tea her favorite. So..that must've been what she had felt when she was wondering the forest. It was whatever was occuring within the walls of the stadium. She wouldn't have entered it anyway. Reaper wasn't ready to do that sort of battling yet.
Reaper thought about the newly obtain information for several moments. She didn't have a place to stay at all Shin was the first person she has met yet in this entire area. And she certiantly didn't want to go and sleep out there in an unknown forest.
"..If you don't mind the company.." she spoke softly. Her voice was always soft as if uncable of raising it any further.

He smiled and handed her the tea. He looked at her...she was attractive, no doubt about that, but he coulden't let her know. He tried to hide his blushing.
"Okay then... You can sleep in my bed. I will sleep on the floor. After all, you are a lady..whom I just happened to fight. I'll answer any questions you have..." He voice trailed off as he looked at her eyes.
The blush came back and he turned away. Pouring some more tea for himself and quickly downing it. He looked at her.
"Is it hot in here? Must be the tea..."
Shin looked away.

Reaper felt bad about taking his bed and having him sleep on the floor. But she was taught to not deny one's gift or offer so she had to accept it according to her teaching. She took the cup of tea cautionly in her hands not wanting to burn herself. Blowing the surface of it softly before taking a silent sip from the cup.
Her eye widen in shock as Shin just drank the hot tea like that. That must've burn his taste buds and throat! She took another sip of her tea as she sat there on his bed making sure her feet were off the bed considering the bottom of her consisted of dirt and such.
"It could be the tea..considering its rather hot.." Reaper answered. "...you sound nervous.."
