"Fourteen," the attendant said, raising her eyebrow. "So, you had them both when you were twenty?" the woman asked Faust.

"Well, you know! Medical school can get pretty crazy! What with all the... anatomy..." Faust coughed.

"You're very lucky to have such a.... er.... responsible... father," the woman said, turning away and looking very confused. "The principal would like to talk to all of you, just for introductions."

"Good afternoon!" the principal said, standing as Faust, Netsubo and Lyserg entered the office. Pumping Faust's hand vigorously, he said, "I'm principal Hiroi and I'm honored that you've taken an interest in teaching here. As far as I'm concerned, you're hired, and your children can of course attend classes free of charge. I have to admit though, I'm worried that teaching mere high school level classes might cramp your style...."

"What style?" Faust laughed. "To tell you the truth, I'd prefer a job like this to the high-stress expectations that come with presentations."

"That is awfully nice," Faust commented. "I was prepared to pay, of course, but are you serious?"

"Yes. They can start today, if they're ready. And, what subject, or subjects, do you want to teach? I'd be thrilled if you'd teach biology, personally, but anything else you feel like you can handle..."

"Well, chemistry was my best subject in school. I can teach that too... and German, if there are any students wishing to learn." Principal Hiroi looked like Faust was a dream come true.

"Or tomorrow, if you'd prefer... the school year just started, so you wouldn't have much catching up to do..."

"I've just recalled, we're actually finishing up our summer vacation," Faust said. Lyserg snapped his fingers, disappointed. "But, it's OK.... I can buy a house locally, and we can move, at least for part of the year. That is, as long as it's OK with the two of you..." he said.

"Really? Great!" Faust said. His expression was one of pure bliss. Wow! I'll be living with two kids! I can put presents under the Christmas tree for them, and read the paper in the morning while they eat breakfast... the possibilities are limitless!

"Well, I'm glad to see you're all happy about moving here," the principal said, not understanding the real reason for their happiness. "So... eight o'clock, tomorrow morning, and it's been a pleasure!" he shook Faust's hand again before they left.
