"I simply came down to this planet for intelligence," Vaan said. "Had I been actively searching, I'd be down here in a gunboat with a platoon of Chiss agents," Vaan said.

elvisnake Anyone in the apartment that contained Freya and Rusty would have heard the loud knock on the door, as Gorwooken opened the door a crack, and without looking inside, asked "Like, totally," Freya said, bidding the wookie entrance.

"You came for intelligence? That explains your current lack of it now." Link remarked. "You do realize you will have to pay for the tractor beam system you destroyed. That happens to be a rather important safety feature that you blasted."

"Like, totally excellent to the max!" Freya chirped, momentarily forgetting her grief. Pondering the situation, she said, "So, like, I'd want a couple of them to totally accompany us as volunteers. Some extra muscle always helps," With that, she decided, "So, yeah! We should, like, meet with them, and see if any volunteers want to come along," "And then, from there, we can decide their assignments," Rusty reasoned.

Vera sat cross-legged in her minimalistic quarters. If she had a choice, it would have holos of her friends and extended family hung about the walls, with flowers from her home planet, perhaps the nerf-skin hat her friend had made for her. But it was mostly bare, save for the bunk and the adjacent night table.
With a sigh, she sat down on her bunk. In a way, her wildest fantasies were coming true; engaged in a galactic struggle between powerful forces, on the cusp of Knighthood in a role that would place her among similar ranks of the old Order she'd read about in the ancient holorecords Elder Ghess had given her access to.
She swung her legs back and forth absentmindedly as she remembered him. He was an elderly man, slightly grouchy according to some, and certainly the most cynical human in her village. Yet he knew a wealth of information, and related it to her and other children and adolescents.
But the current galaxy was a far cry from the Old Republic she'd heard and read of. So much of it was very strange, from the Star Destroyer she was on to the standard G-3HJ blaster on her side table.
Other than the blaster, a single holoframe rested on the table, the only one saved from her doomed ship of the cataclysmic event years ago. She picked it up and looked at it; she'd lost count of how many times she'd done so. It had only an image of the Kalustha system, but it was always zoomed in on Sevid'nak. She held the frame to her chest for a few seconds before returning it to the table and stood, stretched, and went to the 'fresher.

Calra's nervousness was gone... It was now quickly being replaced by amusement. The Chiss apparently didn't understand the most basic security to protect his life, not even the leaders of the Religious caste were that stupid. The sharp hissing and quiet yelping of her laughter was barely audible.
Revak smiled, "You'd think that he'd at least have sent a shuttle load of troops to secure the hanger."

Iust came to a dirty old building in one of Ord Mantell's alleyways. Opening the door he is greeted by a flight of rickety stairs. The stairs creek under his feet as he climbs up them to be confronted by another door. He opens that door to see a man sitting behind a desk playing a game of solitare.
Looking up from his game the man motions for Iust to have a seat, pointing towards the chair across from his desk, and then begins to talk. "Iust, glad to see your back in one piece. I take it that Derith is dead then?"
"Yes, Cras, that man won't be harming anyone anymore."
"Good, Graka is pleased, now let's talk about your reward." Cras reaches under his desk to bring up a large briefcase. He sets it on the table and opens it up towards Iust. It's filled with credits." The credits are all here...too bad you won't be able to enjoy them though." Iust hears the sound of feat as six armed thugs burst into the room, all carying heavy blasters that they point at him.
"What's the meaning of this Cras?" Iust demands.
"Oh it's quite simple really, Graka wants you dead. We sent you after Derith in the hopes that you would kill each other, and if one of you happened to survive we would just find another way to kill you. You have been a thorn in the side of the criminal community for too long, taking out bounties on many of Graka's associates, Graka's tired of losing his allies."
"Traitor, I'll kill you for this. I thought you were one of my friends." Iust growled.
"Oh, I was. But your high minded moral preaching start to got on my nerves. You never thought about the bottom line, I asked you to take in more live bounties but you had to execute all of those 'sinners.' I needed more Iust, and Graka provides that, you know how much I'm getting paid? Heck, my reputation in the criminal community is solidified now. The man who took down Iust Zalera, I'll be hailed as a hero."
"You b*****d..."
"Now don't get snarky, besides there is one last thing I want to task you before you die. That Imperial Knight you came back with, who is she? ANd why is she with you?" Cras asked.
"..." was Iust's response How did they know about her? Were we being watched?
"Not answering eh? No matter, she'll be dead soon anyway. Graka has dispatched a few assassins after her already, can't have anybody wondering about you now can we? All right boys, you can shoot him." Was Cras' last response.

Aurora stepped into the appartment as Gorry left. She had gone to visit her parents after the funeral and freshened up a little. "My parents gave me a few hundred credits that we can use for food and supplies. They also offered to help with the administration of the city while we're away on 'business'." she said as she sat down. "I had them contact the Scion family on Naboo and tell them we were coming. They said they'd be waiting for our arrival."

(( Cool, thanks, Padme! ^__^ *hugs* That takes care o' that. ))
"Wow, like thanks!" Freya said, embracing Aurora. "This, like, totally means a lot to me." she said, overwhelmed. "With that, I can totally rest easy, at least with Cloud City," she added. She had great faith in Aurora's family, as they knew what the Starsinger legacy meant to her, as well as the family in general. As a child, she remembered Rusty's tales of the work her ancestors did for Cloud City. Grandma Z was a totally good woman, she mentally reflected. At times, I totally get impatient with the system! But then, I remember her noble to the max deeds, and totally want to be like her!
Elsewhere, Rusty rolled out of the apartment. "Ah, Gorwooken - there you are, old friend!" he said, catching up with the Wookie. Cutting to the chase, he said, "My apologies. I come to you with a matter to discuss,"

Link was familiar enough with the myrad varieties of sentinent life in the galaxy that he could recognize when a nonhuman being was having a laugh.
His trained ears caught some strange noise coming from what he assumed was the female Rapora. It took him a second to realize she was chuckling and he threw an annoyed look at her but then resumed glaring at the chiss.
The last thing he needed was for the chiss and rapora to think he was playing favorites. The Reptiloids would get their turn in due time.

Turning over to Rusty, about twenty meters or so away from the corvette, Gorwooken turned around and kneeled, so as to be level with the droid's flowerpot shaped help. He said curiously, wondering what his friend was talking about.

"An article in Veron's will," Rusty said, it's full contents in his memory banks. He remembered the grave day that Veron wrote it up, and had it downloaded to his memory, as a baby Freya slept quietly in the other room. "Think back to the night Freya arrived to us," the droid said.
