Hey guys, I'm a alto and tenor sax player as well as a clarinetist. I have a professional horn for each instrument I play including a YAS 875, Yanagisawa T-901, and a Buffet R-13 (my pride and joy). Each cost me over $2,000 on theri own, plus my two other saxes, 3 other clarinets, keyboard, and piano. I'm third chair out of 37 saxes this year (we actually have the largest section for once) and I use 3 1/2 Vandoren ZZ reeds on all my saxes. My favorite accessory is my Olegature, a gold played metal mesh ligature with 2 adjustable screws. Oh yeah, and I'm a senior in high school, go class of 2006!

'Sup, saxes...
How do the 1st and 2nd parts work at your school? Do you have some good people on 1st and some good people on 2nd? Or all the good people on 1st and all the mediocre people on 2nd? Just wondering.

Just wondering. that's how it works in my band. the first half of the sax section's on first part and the other half on second. this past year there was five of us. 2 on first 3 on second. everyone in my section was good so that wasnt really part of it. sometimes the second part's harder than the first so the seconds cant be terrible ^_^*
does that help?

I love some of our freshman saxes! We have four this year - two altos, a tenor, and a bari. I don't know the altos very well, but I've formed a coalition of sorts with the tenor and bari. The three of us have kind of adopted the only trombonist in the band (who is also a freshman), and together we make up the Low Winds Section of the concert band! (Sounds like a superhero group....) It's great fun because I'm the only non-freshman AND the only girl, so I'm in charge. I monitor and make sure they don't goof off TOO much. And the four of us try and start up cheers, but no one will ever cheer with us. It makes me sad. But oh well. I love my freshmen. ^^
