"Oh, yeah, Matteo was the one that gave her the idea...well, reignited the idea." Fela began to explained as she turned back around in her chair. "He was asking her if you two battled anymore then made comments that he heard you have even stronger Pokemon and it just kept escalating from there. I thought it was weird he was being so persistent about it but it got the twins going so I was more focused on getting them to stay calm before Mr. Saguaro came in and got onto them again. Sorry, I should have stopped Matteo."

Penny would finally have her focused broke as she perked up, looked around a bit, and then registered who was talking to her; Tristen. "Hm? Oh uh...yeah, I'm okay." She said, picking up her phone and stuffing it into her backpack. "I'm going to uh...go...later Tristen, Fela..." She said, picking up her tray and sort of speed walking away.

"...now Penny is being weird..." Fela commented.

Tristen stared in confusion at Penny as she left as well. Considering her abrupt leaving of spots before, this wouldn't have been surprising. But considering her reactions before hand? She knew something. She definitely knew something. Something that she didn't care for out of Matteo. But if that was the case, why didn't she stop it, or at least speak up? What was going on with her? Tristen looked back at Fela for a second, his confusion well abound on his face but then shook his head. "Anyways...its fine, Fela. I wasn't lying when I figured that I was going to cave to Nemona sooner or later, even if it was to give us at least a day of peace to do what we need to do for class. And also like I said, she's got homeroom with us, so I was thinking on talking to her there if she hadn't settled into any sort of Pokemon team as of yet."

Tristen with a sigh looked back towards the door, crossing his arms for a moment. He continued to think for a second but then he remembered something he wanted to try to at least put to rest on, maybe to see what Matteo is angling on, based on something that was told by Indie during Ms. Dendra's class yesterday. "Say Fela...you mentioned Matteo ended up getting into a fight with Team Star a while back ago and he ended up getting suspended from classes for it. Do you know why he got into that fight? Did he ever say why?" He asked her.

"Yeah, I remember it clearly. Matteo was originally a bully to some of them." Fela explained, revealing the origins of Matteo's trials with Team Star, him being the original instigator. "Mela specifically, those two clashed a lot, with Mela also not in the right. Matteo didn't really help the matter, he definitely kept it going." She explained to Tristen.

"Basically it came to a head when Mela, with her new Schedar Squad, lashed out at Matteo and managed to pin the entire incident on Matteo as the instigator while they fled the academy. Matteo has wanted revenge since but never got the chance." She continued.

Tristen thought for a moment. There was a point in time that he was missing. Matteo wasn’t exactly absolved of everything, at least as current events against Tristen versus Team Star was concerned. He’d buy the fact that he bullied others at one time, especially considering nowadays with him trying to be underhanded, but there was something there that he felt he was missing, given what he was told yesterday. Wait a second…what did she mean by that? “Wait…” Tristen asked, staring in confusion. “…'new'? As in the one now? Like she had a whole other bunch before?”

"Oh, yeah, it was weird. I knew a bunch of the students that composed the original Schedar Squad until one day a good chunk either left or were kicked out and then a bunch of students I never recognized joined up. From what I heard it really caused some beef with Segin Squad as the former Schedar students that didn't return to school went to Giacomo's Segin Squad and had it out for Schedar ever since. Especially the two tall grunts that seem to follow Mela everywhere, the twin humans. They gave me the creeps the one time I came across them." Fela explained, shivering slightly at the thought of those two. Tristen knew exactly which two she was talking about and they weren't human.
PostPosted: Thu Nov 07, 2024 6:04 pm

"Twins?" Tristen hesitated for a second, but then... "...those...two..." he looked around then started to talk lower. "...those two are actually hybrid. They're the Zoroark hybrids I told you and Penny about. They use illusions to make themselves look human." Matteo probably was part of Team Star before Mela decided to go rogue in such a fashion, as far as Team Star was concerned. Matteo probably was one of those ones that came back to the class room instead of to other Team Star factions. Tristen couldn't help but to wonder if Matteo ended up going back to Mela...but why would he? Fela just said that he was effectively her and other's bully. Unless he was with one of the squads. Wait...Giacomo? That name...

Tristen instantly flashbacked all the way to last week, during the first day of school. Penny was supposed to be partnered with Giacomo during Mr. Jacq's class, only to be paired with Camp. Penny tried to play it off a day later, but it wasn't exactly ignored. Tristen even recalled ever so briefly that Penny didn't care for a off-hand remark about Giacomo out of Fela. He was left to wonder just what Penny's relation to a Team Star squad leader is. That wasn't necessarily important right at the matter. There was a possibility Matteo actually was with Giacomo or one of the other squad leaders before he up and bailed out on them. Tristen remembered Sub having Atticus in tow the other day and with how he came off and Mela the day after during the fight, they were probably in on this whole situation together under Malva's lead. When they joined, there was a possibility that Matteo was with one of them then left when he started to realize she was bad news. That would only insinuate that Malva had been here a while, and maybe even knew that Snagems were going to be here. With all said though, it left Tristen wondering why would he be part of Team Star and bully what was effectively his own team mates before hand. When did that happen exactly? And why?

It was crazy to Tristen, however, just how crazy things have gotten before Team Snagem found their way here. But then, a thought just occurred to Tristen, a grim realization came to the kid. He looked over towards the chair where Matteo was sitting then quickly got up. "Hang on a second..." He walked around the table and started to look around. A Zoroark's illusions were good, but there was only so much they could cover up. One of which they couldn't...was their smell. Tristen tried to play it off like he lost something under the table, but really, he was trying to put those canine smelling to use around where Matteo sat.

"Tristen, what are you doing...?" Fela asked, her voice trailing off as she discarded the question to the wind, letting the hybrid do whatever it is he was planning to do, at this point she was just doing her best to keep up with things.

Tristen's sensitive nose would pick up the scent left behind by Matteo. Immediately Tristen would register something wrong about the scent, his brain registering the 'wrongness' before he consciously focused on it. Something was notably missing from the scent. Matteo had a very prominent 'burnt' smell, kinda like soot but it wasn't particularly offensive. This scent though lacked it completely and instead had another prominent scent, it was almost woodsy, earthen, the smell of someone that spent a lot of time in forests. That definitely wasn't Matteo, he certainly didn't seem like the woodsy type. Another thing was the musk in the scent, it was all wrong, it was far stronger and almost offensive, like its true purpose was to mark its territory. The longer he took in the scent the more convinced this was not Matteo's.

The look on Tristen’s face went from suspicion to pure horror. “B. E. They’re in trouble.” Tristen said pulling away from the chair, looking over towards Fela. “Fela, find a teacher. Now. No joking. Tell them to find Mr. Clavell. Team Star might have just took the twins. Go!” He said, snatching his pack and bolting for the door. He had to try to reach the twins before anything happened to him.

Forget the teachers, forget any manner of subtlety, if that was in fact one of the Zoroark hybrids like he suspected, then they had about a minute head start on him down these halls. In fact, there was a good chance they’re already out the nearest door to the outside. Tristen quickly pulled out his SNAG as he ran, and quickly signaled off for Sub as he tried to follow the smell. “Come on, Sub…” Tristen said to himself as he made his way down to a hallway intersection and started looking around, trying to readjust himself, trying to discern which hall they might have went down.

Tristen would bump into a few students as he ran out the door, them and several others yelling at him as he fled though no doubt the boy wouldn't respond to them, provided he even registered his presence as all of his mental energy was now focused on the singular task of finding the twins. Mr. Saguaro even yelled at him from the across the cafeteria but alas his words would not reach Tristen before he disappeared through the doorway.

Perhaps it was adrenaline aiding him in the heat of the moment but Tristen's nose was locked onto the Zoroark hybrid's scent, the boy finding himself not even thinking of which way he should go but instead his nose guiding him. While his nose ran on autopilot he rang for Sub, the Snagem leader answering after the second ring. "What's wrong?" Sub immediately responded, knowing there was good reason for Tristen to call him, especially considering the situation.

At the intersection it would not Tristen's nose to deduce which way the Zoroark hybrid went; right. Scanning his brain for a moment Tristen would have the initial thought that yes, the Zoroark hybrid was going where he claimed to be going, through the central courtyard. Why would he actually declare the path he'd take? Was this just another trap? Maybe, but what other choice did Tristen have but to willingly walk into it? The twins needed him.

“Sub, I think my friends are being taken. I think one of the Zoroark hybrids that I told you about yesterday is taking them out, I’m trying to follow the scent trail and…” He started to look about, trying to get a clear follow. The smell was seemingly heading the way of the courtyard, just as mentioned earlier. Was this a setup? Why would the fake just lead him out there? Was it a rendezvous point for someone else? Did they not think Tristen would pick up on it? “…I think they are heading to the courtyard right now. They already got a minute head start on me; I didn’t realize it until just now.” He said, rushing down the hallway. Sub would hear the exertion out of Tristen as he quickly rushed for the courtyard door.

"The Zoroark hybrids...?" Sub repeated, a thousand thoughts swirling around in his mind at that moment. Something about those hybrids bothered him since the first day he encountered them with Schedar Squad and the more the team crossed paths with them the more uncomfortable they made him. Something was definitely wrong with all this. "The courtyard, huh? Hold them there. I'll get there as soon as I can to back you up. And Tristen...I know I don't have to tell you this if they hurt your friends, don't hold back." With that said Sub hung up the SNAG, preparing to head out himself and meet up with Tristen.

After a bit more running and almost plowing through groups of students Tristen would make it to the doors to the courtyard, no doubt throwing them open without caution for anyone on the other side. On the other side he'd find the courtyard empty save for Matteo, Ms. Raifort, and the twins, the two boys bound and gagged at the feet of Matteo and Ms. Raifort as they all stood in the center of the battlefield. Where were the rest of the students? This place was normally crawling with people all day every day.

"Like a Venomoth to the flame. You were right about him." The apparent 'Ms. Raifort' said with a wide smile, Matteo letting out a little cackle in response.

"Yep, his friend had a good read on him. Always gotta be the hero, huh boy?" 'Matteo' asked Tristen. The boys would squirm and try to speak but it was no use.

"So, let's try this again; come along quietly and no one else has to get hurt." Ms. Raifort said to Tristen, leaning down to pet the twins individually. "Or should I say, they won't get hurt...much." 'She' chuckled.

Tristen had his orders again. He’d quickly stash his SNAG in his jacket then quickly rushed down the hall and plowed through the door, nearly stumbling through. He quickly looked around and in a look of shock, Tristen went completely wide-eyed for all of a blink of an eye then started to bear fangs once again. “Ugh…couldn’t take me on three on one, with Pokémon I might add, so you run and take hostages! Cowards!” Tristen shouted to the two Zoroark hybrids. Tristen found himself in a situation he didn’t want to be in ever. Tristen started to think, trying to figure out just what to do. Tristen wasn’t confident enough to Thunderbolt either one of the hybrids without catching any one or both of the twins in the electrical wake. Part of him wished that he had mastered Agility by now, that probably could have been a great equalizer, but he still only was getting the first steps of it down. They’re too far out of range for a Flash attack or a Thunder Wave to be effective enough. And Spark was effectively melee range. Tristen cursed his limited abilities. “Ugh, do you two even realize who you are working for!? At best you’re just a means to an end! At worst, you’re a waste of space! She doesn’t even care about you two just because of you being hybrids! Why are you even doing this!?” One the one hand, Tristen did want answers as to why they were doing this, because he couldn’t have imagined Malva being that lax on her ‘morals’ just to get revenge on someone, at least as far as what he was told. He only imagine Malva retching at the idea of having to get a hybrid to do things for her. On the other hand, he was stalling. He needed Sub to show up in very short order. He wasn’t sure how long he could hang on, however. He doubted for long.

"We know exactly who we're working for." The fake Matteo said, giving off an annoyed scoff.

"The enemy of my enemy, right? Strange bed fellows and all that." The fake Ms. Raifort said with a laugh. They considered Team Snagem an enemy? But why?

"Don't worry your little head on whys, young Tristen. Instead you should worry about surviving." Fake Matteo said before letting out a cackle, soon joined in by his brother as reality all around them in the courtyard began to distort and warp until it was replaced by a thickly wooded forest, the natural environment of Zoroarks. It was one of their illusions but this seemed significantly wide scale, were they always this powerful? Also, why was there suddenly a prominent amount of static in the air?

"Think fast!" One of them called out from the 'trees' behind Tristen as an orb of overlapping rings of Dark energy whizzed between them and darted straight for Tristen, a Dark Pulse attack. They were toying with him, why else declare your attack like that?

Once Tristen certainly dodged a Shadow Claw would come down from above, the hand made of Ghost energy large enough in size to threaten to pin him down on the ground by his chest if he got caught by it. So it wasn't just toying around.

Tristen couldn’t help but to stare confused for a moment. Why did they harbor a grudge against Team Snagem that they’d join the likes of Malva? Who even were they? There were many enemies they had, sure, but there wasn’t any Zoroark hybrid in the mix that he was aware of. That train of thought was immediately derailed however when the Zoroark hybrids made their move. Tristen went wide-eyed as the surroundings started to get replaced by the likes of a forest. He knew they didn’t telelport, not like that so easily. Not with them so wide spread like that. An illusion? But how? How could they conjure such a large-scale illusion in such a fashion? As far as Tristen knew, Zoroarks could only keep the illusion about themselves in close proximity, not outright blanket the area with it, and a hybrid should be capable of roughly less than that. Even if they could do something on such a grand scale, that had to be expending a large amount of energy just to even be capable of it, let alone maintain it. They weren’t psychic where they could directly drill into the mind to hallucinate. They couldn’t be thinking on trying to hold onto such an illusion to batter and cow Tristen into submission, could they?

The plan was still in effect. Tristen had to stall. If they were willing to fight, then he’d fight. Sub needed to get here, hopefully sooner than later. Tristen perked up, and quickly moved to the side to avert the Dark Pulse, but it was right in the path of the Shadow Claw. Tristen tried to brace himself, but then gets driven into the ground by the Shadow Claw. “Augh…Get off!” Tristen shouted, his body lighting up furiously with his Spark attack, making his assailant regret trying to pounce him in such a fashion.

"Yeowch!" One of the Zoroark hybrids screamed out from...somewhere, the Shadow Claw reeling back and letting go of Tristen as it disappeared into the 'woods'. While Tristen had freed himself he certainly wasn't safe, there was still the other one and his twin would soon recover and retaliate. And that wasn't counting the illusion he found himself in. He just needed to hang in there a little longer.

Tristen would have time to get back on his feet and just begin to regain his bearings before his shadow rose up off the ground and materialize into one of the Zoroark hybrid's, the man reach out with his Shadow Sneak to try and catch Tristen off guard and put him in a choke hold.

"Why don't you chill out, Sparky? I don't want to have to hurt your pretty face." The other Zoroark hybrid said as he stepped out from the illusionary shadows, one hooked Dark energy empowered claw raised as it prepared a Night Slash. He'd approach Tristen menacingly, his brother gripping his hold on Tristen from behind, choking him just shy of actually taking away his ability to breath. "Shock my brother though and I will-"

The Night Slash wielding hybrid would have his sentence cut short as a human hand reached out from seeming nowhere and grabbed a fist full of the Zoroark hybrid's long red hair and snatched him backwards and off his feet causing him to fall onto the ground. As this happened reality began to glitch out and in front Tristen he could see the courtyard fade in and out of existence as the illusion tried to keep itself whole but was finding difficulty in doing so.

Also the human arm would begin to grow the rest of its body as none other than Sub began to 'materialize', or rather the illusion hiding his presence was failing. Slipping out of Sub's shadow was Griswold, the Spiritomb taking on a long chain-like form as it wrapped itself around the fallen Zoroark hybrid and used its body to 'chain' the hybrid down as it utilized Imprison. The hybrid would struggle but found it difficult to resist, the Spiritomb grip on him too strong, the floating face of the Spiritomb smiling with fiendish glee.

"Hey! Let my brother go or the kid gets it!" The shiny Zoroark hybrid said as he now materialize a Night Slash claw and held it up to Tristen's neck. Sub would say nothing however, simply scowled at the hybrid before locking eyes with Tristen and nodded.

"You're a Snagem, you know what to do." Sub once told him.
