"We are twins," he repeated. Really? They looked exactly alike. There was only one difference, and though it was fairly obvious, it didn't mean they looked any different. They were technically fraternal twins, but they were identical in looks. A repeat of the same genes.
So why was it so hard for people to understand?

He turned the key in the plain white door among dozens of other plain white doors and pushed it open slowly. He was blasted with stale stuffy air as he stepped into the small room on the other side.
This was his new home. He'd live in this tiny area, hardly much more than a dorm, for the foreseeable future. The walls were stark white, the bed looked like it probably wasn't long enough, and the desk looked far too tidy.
It was pretty much empty.
But it was his.

10Total: 10 (1-20)
After that first day of school away from his sister, Caiden was looking forward to getting home. Where everything was familiar, the same. Where he didn't have to be alone and deal with other kids on his own. He'd been in a mood all day, sitting low in his seat and not answering anything even though he knew the answers.
Finally the school bell rang and he was able to find his twin.
Now this was normalcy...
Too bad he'd have to go back the next day.

2. Loss - Caid
Caiden could remember the first time he'd ever had a sense of profound loss. It kind of felt dumb now that he was older, but when he was a kid it had seemed all important. It had been his and Cadence's favorite stuffed toy. A plush grim reaper, complete with creepy black robe, shadowed face, and a plastic scythe that fit into a small elastic loop on one of his hands. They'd taken it everywhere.
Until their parents had taken it. "You're too old for this kind of thing now. It's time to become your own reapers, and stop playing with toy ones."
He'd been devastated, though the only person he ever shared that with had been his sister.

He'd had a dog back home, and there had been a time when he could have spent hours throwing the creature a ball or running through the glistening sand, his Twiz hot on his heels. It was remarkable that he could recall anything about that time, really, considering that the last time he had felt contented with simply playing with a dog, he'd been four. After that, he was only tickled by books and things that took place in respectable establishments. Respectable establishments indoors.

The whole place had been washed out, colorless, but Lyeb hadn't cared. When he had first woken up, his sole purpose was to please Her, to cleanse Her land, and he'd done so with a lightness of heart that he hadn't experienced before that point. It was only after he'd begun to dwell on the color of his heart, to wonder why the others were different, that he felt a splinter of discontent. He tried to recapture the way he had felt at the start, but it was too late.

The lock was a beautiful thing, golden and sparkling with simple jewels, but the boil had no idea why it had appeared, and not knowing made it ugly. He was glad that no one could see it under his shirt, that no one would ask him why it was there. Removing it had been the most painful thing in his life thus far, but he wouldn't have had it any other way.

She had been playing for several hours. She loved being a seeker but hated hiding. It was time for her to hide though and hide she did.
It took several months for her to realize that being a hider meant that her brothers would just go off and play Hexbox until she realized they were no longer looking for her. Why did older brothers have to be such jerks?

She felt... hollow at times. Lonely. For a person who desired to help and please others, she sure was bad at making new friends. She didn’t want to intrude on others lives. Those that had friends meant she was the third wheel. The one in the group that wasn’t wanted. The last to the gate. She felt... hollow at times. Even her dorm room was empty of possessions. What was she going to do with her life?
She had showed up at the gate with all the other new students. The school had promised to let her keep a skelly phone and repair it whenever it broke. It was wonderful to be able to use one again. As much as she loved her family, having a chance to stand on her own was a breath of fresh air.
It felt like he had literally stepped out of the weapons cove and then thrown somewhere, barely getting any holdings or barrings on the island. And when he returned with the others, or woke up, or however it was. It was just chaos all around him.
He knew how his heroes would handle it, how they would jump into the situation with no regard for themselves. To get everything safe and secure. But Milo had no idea what to do and it kind of scared him. Here he was, fresh on the island and had no idea what was going on. What to do. How to help. Anything.
Like he had no purpose.

He had seen them enough. Endless summers when he wasn't working, when simply bored, when just feeling in the mood. Open up Media Player, load up a playlist and watch. It had even gotten to the point that he didn't even need to read the subtitles, he already knew what they were saying. All repetition, sewn into his memory.
It was how he learned Japanese a little better and it was how he was able to repeat their moves. Well, kind of. Never polished because he wasn't really trained in that sense. But he had seen them enough time to try to replicate it. Put that theory into practice. To act like the heroes did.

He was practically buzzing when he stepped through the doors to the LAPD training facility, ushered with the other candidates to a small room. He wondered if they were as excited as he was, and as nervous and anxious.
He felt like he wanted to throw up. Sitting there. Tapping his foot and waiting his turn, his fingers digging into his pants. Sitting there. Nervous but hopeful as he waited his turn.

It had been a fairly warm day on the Famine Island. Its residents coming and going, like the busy bees that they were. The smell of good foods and strong spices filled the air. Sellers peddling their wares in the marketplace called to passers by.
Everything seemed normal for that day.
She was younger than. Much younger. Not even in her 'teenage' years, or what the Horsemen would consider. Wykid was but a mere child. She had been playing in the street with her friends at the time. One of the other children had brought a ball and they were all tossing, kicking and chasing it through the bustling crowd. Garnering some endearing and some scowling looks.
A commotion in the far corner of the square drew much attention. The adults began to bustle in that direction and soon her friends and her were being drawn in that direction as well. The sounds of jeers and obscenities soon reached her young ears as the crowd's emotions turned sour.
Something was going on but she couldn't quite see. She hopped around, tried to squish between some of the adults. Which even as skinny as some were was a difficult feat. They were all smooshed together in one big crowd of anger and disgust.
Finally she found her way over to a wall and clambered up to the top. Leaning against an overhang from one of the shops. Ahhh, that was better. Now she could see. And what she saw was certainly a sight for sure. A group of soldiers were parading a captured group of humans through the city. They were heading towards the Colosseum. She watched in silence. The humans looked beaten and bruised. One's arm dangled lifeless, probably broken.
The crowd below her continued to call out obscenities. A rock hurled from the crowd hit a female human in the head. The burly male next to her lunged at the crowd in the direction the rock had come as the female slumped to the ground. He roared in anger but was yanked back by the chain around his neck. This merely garnered laughter and more jeers. Soon more rocks and even rotten food was being thrown at the group. Missing the soldiers completly of course.
She walked along the wall, keeping an eye on the group. Curiosity running through her. Having never seen a human in person before there was so much she wanted to know. Like what their insides looked like. Was it soft and squishy? Did they have more than one heart? As she crouched on the end of the wall as far as it would take her, she looked down at the humans. Eyes lidded half way as one looked up at her with fear in his young male eyes. Looking at her, as if pleading with her to do something. She was a child, certainly they would listen to an innocent child's words yes?
Shaking her head, she hopped off the wall. Leaving the spectacle behind her as she walked for home. The hatred for humans perhaps was not ingrained in her because of her age. When she looked at them she truly felt nothing.
Maybe one day that would change. For now, it was the last thing on her mind.
