Victoria sighed in relief and watched him pull out the car keys. She knew it was time to go even before he asked her where he should take her. She walked to him slowly, taking a little longer than usual to answer. She was lost in thought, staring at him as he stood there. She bit her lip, trying to block out the thoughts that were trying to take over her head. He was so handsome, but it wasn't like she could do anything. They were friends, and she knew that Dante wanted it to stay that way for at least a little while until he got his life back in order. She glanced away and quietly said, "Home is fine."

Dante nodded at her and went out to the car. He unlocked her door and waited for her to get in. He sat silently as he started the engine and began to drive away after Victoria closed her door. When they stopped at a red light on the outskirts of Eastern Heights, Dante continued to look forward, but spoke a few quiet words. "So what do you think?" he asked her. He wasn't sure if it was specific enough, so he added some more words to his statement. "What do think of the idea that I presented to you about staying with me? And I want an honest opinion, not one that I just want to hear." he said as the light turned green and he slowly started to drive again.

Victoria stared out the window until she heard Dante begin making small talk with her. She turned to him, watching his hands on the steering wheel as she opened her mouth. "I think...it's very thoughtful of you to do this for me. And generous. And I believe that no one else but a true friend-you-would do this for me." She gave him a small, genuine smile as she turned back to the front instead, placing her hands in her lap again as she thought. Was it the right answer? Had he expected something like it? Was she too boring?

Dante glanced over to see a small smile. He gave one back and kept driving without saying anything for a while. He turned the corner and drove down the main street of the town. The scenery and the view of the town was a lot different than where they were just at. He turned onto Victoria's street and into her parking lot of her apartment. He stopped in front of the door. He placed the car in park. "Well here we are. I'll give you a call soon." Dante told her as he looked over in her direction. He unlocked the doors of the car.

Victoria sat there for a moment before getting out. "O-okay." She bit her lip, not knowing how to say goodbye, or even if she should. Kiss him on the cheek? Hug him? Close the door and not look back? Awkwardly glancing at him, she opened the door and decided in that moment. She turned back, kissed his cheek quickly, and politely thanked him. She got out of the car and went up to her apartment without glancing back at him.

Before Dante could say anything, Victoria was already in her building, so he shrugged his shoulders and drove off. He wasn't sure where to go. He contemplated going home and asking his mom why she did what she had done. He drove off into the distance with no specific destination in mind. He found himself finally arriving at the same lake where he took Victoria. He went and sat on a rock by the water and starred out into the distance. He took out his cell phone and dialed a familiar number; his house. The phone rang and rang, and Dante started to think that his mother wasn't home, before a faint hello was heard.

"Mom?" he said not recognizing the voice.
"No this is Andrea." a woman said. She sounded around Dante's age maybe a little older. He wondered if it was a daughter of one of his mother's friends. He couldn't recall if it was or not.
"Is my mother there? This is Dante." he said confused as to why a strange woman answered the phone.
"Yeah hold on." she said as muffled brushing sounds passed over the speaker.
"How did you like the house honey?" his mother asked him in an excited voice.
"It was definitely something you'd like. It's not anything I would enjoy living in that's for sure." Dante told her.
"I only want the best for you. Plus it'll be a good environment."
"Mom, why didn't we talk about this before hand? You know, it would've been nice to know that you were going to spend that much money on a house, because I would've said no." Dante said calmly trying to hide his anger.
"I know Dante. But I just felt if you would've done it yourself, you would end up in a place that would just harm you instead of help. This way you'll be away from all the parties and drinking." his mother was sincere
"I have a car. I can drive. If I wanted to go I'd just drive there. I'm not trying to get mad or anything, but I just want to feel treated like an adult."

Dante and his mother went back and forth. After a long talk, Dante finally agreed with his mother's reasoning, since after all it would be better. He wasn't one to disagree with his mom. She always knew best and he didn't want anything other than that. Dante changed the subject and asked his mother a question.

"So who's Andrea?" Dante asked his mom curiously.
"Oh. She's Jane's daughter. They came over to see how you were doing. I'm surprised you don't know her, after all, she did go to your school."
Dante thought for a moment. "Nope doesn't ring a bell. She must not have hung around the same crowd."
"I can tell you that she has high moral standards. She'd be a great influence on you. Heck anyone other than the friends that you have now, besides Aria, would better influences." his mother chuckled a bit.
"I don't know. But then again I could use some better friends. All they want is me to bail them out all the time, but that's a whole 'nother story. Is she going to be there for a while?" Dante asked.
"Yeah. You should stop by. Jane wants to see you any how." his mother said cheerfully.
"Alright. I'll be there soon." he said. He said good bye and put the phone into his pocket.

He got back into his car and started to drive home. Thoughts began to rush into Dante's head. Thoughts about the way he used to be and how he played with women's emotions and feelings. He started to consider pulling "an old charming Dante" act to see how the girl responded. But the thought of Victoria came into picture. He felt something for her, and it was not like the old times. He wasn't sure what he was going to do, but he would figure it out when he got there.

Victoria fed the cat and pet it for a while before making herself some coffee. She usually didn't drink it, but for some reason she felt exhausted. She reached in and noticed it was the last one. "Great. She muttered. Another thing to spend money on that she didn't have. She sighed and made a pot, smelling it. She smiled, the familiar smell waking up her senses. She closed her eyes and leaned her back against the sink, thinking about Dante. She wondered what he was doing now. Knowing him, she thought with a roll of her eyes, he had probably already argued with his mother and told her his blunt opinion. She laughed at the thought, thinking that yes, that was definitely Dante.

Dante turned onto his street. He had been thing the whole way there who this person could be. Dante hung around with all kinds of people. There were the druggies, the trouble makers, the occasional preps, and sometimes the goth kids even though he just used them to get things. He began to think about who he didn't hang around with, and he came up with only one group of people, and that was the jocks. He hated the jocks for many reasons. Many of them resulting from the fact that the trouble makers and the jocks never got along. Both groups would talk crap to one another and start fights. It was a never ending battle that Dante was always involved in. He also didn't like them because of their popularity and the pride that was brought with it. Dante figured that Andrea hung around with them and laughed. How could she be a good influence on him? He pulled into his drive way and parked his car. He walked up to his door. His foot steps could be heard on the wood boards below him. As he opened the door he saw his mother and her friend sitting there talking, and a shy looking girl next to them. He did not recognize her as anyone that hung around the jocks. She didn't look like she would even be associated with the adrenaline filled meat heads. She was about his height with long brown flowing hair. She had the face of an innocent, but mysterious girl, that looked as soft as an angel's wings. Her body was that of a cheerleader, but she did not reveal it as much as they did. Her eyes were beautiful and were a glistening blue. Dante was amazed that he had never seen this precious stunning women in his school before. She was the type that he would hunt for, hoping to unlock the mystery inside of their hearts, and then turning around and breaking it. He closed the door behind him. He put on his sweet and charming personality that he was oh so ever good at carrying out. It was the same one that he used on the girls in his school.

The three of them looked over at Dante who was still dressed up in his suit. Jane stood up and gave Dante a hug, asking him how he was. He gave the typical "I'm fine" answer as he went to the couch that the girl was sitting on. "You must be Andrea?" Dante asked her as he outstretched his hand and gave a charming smile. The girl blushed a little before nodding. He sat down next to her and began conversing with his mother.

"You didn't tell me she was beautiful mom." Dante said as he glanced at Andrea.
"I told you that for a reason. I know how you are Dante." his mother shot him a slight glare.
Dante smiled back at her. "I'm not that bad am I?" he asked.
His mom completely ignored the question. "So Andrea told me that she remembers you from school and from the party that you was at with Alex." his mother started telling him about her. She was interrupted by Andrea.
"I'm sorry for your lose Dante." she said quietly.
Even her voice is heavenly just like her looks. Dante thought before nodding.
He turned his attention to Andrea. "So how did you know Alex?" he asked her. He figured he could converse with her instead of his mother describing her. He wasn't as shy as she seemed, and he wanted to use his charm.

Victoria continued to think about Dante and ached to hear his voice again for some reason. She wanted to call him, but didn't want to bother him, either. Especially if he was with his mother. She sighed and turned around to see that the coffee pot was finished. She took it out and poured herself a cup, putting a few lumps of sugar in it. She took a sip and winced. She had forgotten how much she hated the taste of black coffee. She added another sugar lump and sighed. By the evening, she thought, she would be high off of sugar. She took another sip and instantly began to feel the sugar coursing through her veins. She shivered and sighed. She needed Dante to calm her down. Should she call him? Her thoughts plagued her, and she went to the phone, staring at it, mug of coffee in her hands.

"I didn't really know him, but I knew his sister. We used to be best friends, but I haven't talked to her since the party. I heard she went kinda crazy afterwards." she said as she played with the string on the couch.
Dante had forgot about Alex's sister. He never really talked to her a whole lot, but he could remember Alex and her being close. "That's a shame. So who do you hang around with at school?" he asked her placing his hand on the couch.
"I mostly hung around the people who sat at the table behind you and your friends. I was the one Xavier hit with the milk carton during the food fight." she said slightly laughing.
He tried to remember, but he could just remember a table of the smarter kids behind him. "So you were part of the academic kids. That explains why I don't remember you, no offense." he said with a slight smile on his face.
"None taken. And yeah. I was one of the good kids. Grade wise that is. I didn't really fit in much with them." she smiled.
"You could have joined the table. Rebecca sat there, you know Xavier's girlfriend? We would have welcomed you in." Dante laughed at the fact that it sounded like an exclusive group.
"Eh, I wasn't sure. Do you still hang around those guys?" she asked in a wondering voice.
"Yup. Why do you ask?" Dante played her little game.
"Just wondering." she said.
"Maybe I could introduce you to the group some time. Apparently my mom thinks I need to hang out with new friends, so your welcome to join." he said as he looked at his mom.

She nodded at him.
"Well I have some stuff to take care of. It was a pleasure meeting you Andrea." he said as he got up and slightly brushed the side of her leg with his hand.
She blushed and nodded at him. Dante went up stairs to his room and closed the door. He changed back into his street clothes. This time he chose the new outfit that he had bought to impress his mom. He put the button up shirt on and placed the sweater over it. He put the tan pants on that matched and also the black shoes. He turned on some music and laid down on his bed as he relaxed.

Victoria jumped for the phone before she could decide against it. What harm would it do, after all? She knew the extra sugar she took in was making her excited, but she ignored it. She dialed the number as fast as she could, but had to hang up and try again when she got it wrong. She redialed and finally got a ringing tone. She prayed she got the number right. The mug was almost shaking in her hands. She bit lip, waiting for him to pick up.

Dante was gazing out the window on the other side of the room as his phone began to ring. He wasn't expecting a call and he jumped from the phone vibrating and ringing in his pocket. He took it out and looked at the number. I just dropped her off. Dante laughed as he answered the phone. Still slightly chuckling, "Am I that great of a person?" he said as he stopped laughing. "But on a serious note, what's up?" he asked as he sat up in bed and placed his back against the wall.

Victoria slumped against the wall in relief when he answered. "Hi, Dante." She laughed when he commented on how great he was. "Yes, you are that great actually." She rolled her eyes, taking another sip of the coffee. "Nothing really. I just wanted to hear you're voice. I hate living alone." She murmured the last part more quietly, glancing at her cat, who was looking up at her expectantly. She raised an eyebrow, wondering what it wanted. "So what are you doing?" She asked out loud.

Dante went to say something and was caught off guard by another statement. "Whoa now, calm down." he said and laughed again. "I offered that you could live with me, but you never gave an answer to it. So that's you're own fault." Dante smiled even though she couldn't see it. "I'm just kidding. I'm just sitting in my room. Came home to a slight surprise. But other than that I'm just relaxing before I go and get things for the house." he said as he reached in the mini fridge for a pop. "So what are you doing?" he cracked open the can.

Victoria grinned. "I guess it was my fault." She said, playing along. She took another sip of the sugary drink. She frowned by his words though. "I'm just drinking coffee and watching my cat eat." She sat against the wall and called her cat's name. He had been scratching the furniture. "I really need to get him De-clawed." She muttered. "So what was the surprise waiting for you?" She said it casually, but was curious.
