It took a few minutes, but the worn out canine was finally breathing normal again and the pain in his abs was starting to dull. Sure he may have been reluctant to come here earlier, but he forgot that it wasn't a group of snooty people trying to show off how elegant they were.
It was just a get together with his fellow classmates. He didn't miss a beat when Bul suggested for Mei to try out the thrusting. "You really should, just for the heck of it." he said cheerily, more ghouls needed to try it he figured.
He was checking out his blazer which he left to the side for any tears or loose buttons or threads that may have frayed since he left it, but he still kept an open ear for the half glowing beast as his ears swiveled around to him.
"Oh the food was fine, just enough to keep people full without being heavy." he said reassuringly before jerking a thumb in the tables direction. "You should pick up a few pieces if your peckish." he said blankly before turning around to look at the table and the tornado that it it.
With Roch and what he could only assume was Claire next to him, not far away from it. "That is, if those two left anything behind." he couldn't even tear his eyes away from the duo who looked like they were just scarfing the pieces down rather than tasting it.
"Well, at least they're together for part of the prom." he said optimistically to himself.

Claire laughed. She enjoyed that roll. Claire was hungry. LIKE THE WOLF. Not really, but she liked this song too! CLAIRE WHIPPED HER HAIR BACK AND FORTH a couple of times then grabbed Roch's hand and danced with him like the drunk uncle at a wedding reception. " HUNGRY LIKE THE WOLF!" she sang along, still dancing

Roch started cracking up as he danced with her. "This song totally SUCKS!" he told her, but he didn't sound bothered at all. In fact, on some strange level he was now declaring it the best song ever. Well, not really. Not even close. Cuz seriously, it REALLY SUCKED. But it was a hell of a lot of fun to dance to!

"Sure!" Taryn nodded, glad that her date had come up with something on his own. Having no expectations meant she thought she would be carrying her own plate to their table, and she would need both of her hands. Joachim was relieved from hand-holding duty again. She did, however, wait for her date to lead the way to the buffet... which didn't happen. Well, maybe the expectations were different than the novels said. She smiled again and started off toward the buffet.
Now she was interested.
Delicious scents wafted up at Taryn and she licked her lips subtly. Yes, food was a good idea. She would have to go easy lest her meal weigh her down, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy herself. As she hovered by the heated trays, she glanced up at his mouse again. She wasn't sure how she felt about mice, and that one in particular. At least it seemed to be abusing Joachim more than it was paying attention to her.

As the song changed Mitsu looked around to see that the people in the room had started to move along. Even Lizzy seemed to be leaving with someone. "Come on, let's go back and sit down." Mitsu offered. She felt really lucky to have such a good friend like Shun.
Moving off the floor Mitsu headed back to their table taking a seat content to watch the remaining festivities. The happy expression was still plastered on her face her tail giving a swishy wag every once in a while. This was the best night ever.

Erebus was not very good with crowds.
Especially when his brothers weren't around, and they weren't. He had no idea then, why he had even bothered to come to prom, dressed up in a black tux with his blue and black striped tie held together by the skull clasp. He felt unnaturally stiff, simply leaning against a wall and eyeing everyone else who seemed to be having fun skeptically. Why was he here again?
Because he wanted to see Tomoko. Of course, he had no idea if she would be around, but she had encouraged him to be better at being social. And it was that encouragement that had made him decide to make an appearance at prom.
...He had tried, but he was still terribly awkward at this. He didn't even have a date! Erebus sighed, watching as the others started dancing along to the music.
He wasn't very good at dancing. Thackery was better at that sort of thing.

I'm sure sunglasses would help. She murmured idly, while thrusting.
Someone really needed to tell her that particular dance was over.

"I guess you guys are right.." he paused and thoughtfully licked his lips. Bul then pushed himself away from the table and glanced back. "I'll be right back.." he said and wormed his way around the room to the table of food to scrounge around for something to snack on. He'd feel better with something in his tummy.
No sign of bugs... that was good. And if there were they were dead and cooked or else he wouldn't go near them.
Coming back with a small plate of food, Bul stuffed his face and cleaned his face off like a proper monster with the tablecloth or... better yet the kerchief from his tux.
Even with all of the energy and noise in the room he managed to feel a yawn coming on.

Did his gentlemanly gesture towards Tess cause her any discomfort? Yes, yes it did, and 'discomfort' is an understatement - it made her want to go sit and cry in a corner actually, because she figured that he was doing this on purpose, and it was working. That was the part that baffled her the most - how she felt the whole evening, whenever she saw them together.
She was happy for Tess, since she seemed to be enjoying herself, which was what Lizzy had wanted, but there was that all too familiar feeling - that slight... Tug in her chest. If Tess wasn't her friend, it might had been worse.
She stared up at Mac, wide eyed and not quite sure what to do or say to him; she was actually rather frightened, since... Well, she was never good at expressing her feelings when it came to these things. Friends? Easy. Crush? Difficult. Someone she genuinely liked? Almost impossible, although Mac was the first. Ironically.
Should she apologize? For kissing Mot? For running away that day? Explain that she did it without really knowing what was happening? Explain that she Charlie-liked him and that seeing him close to another ghoul was causing her actual physical pain?
She settled for hugging him, burying her head in his chest while sniffing away. A short pause followed before she looked up, "I miss you. So much."

Nodding to the wolf girl, Shun looked towards the Skreejay for the moment, raising an eyebrow for the song choice. Shaking his head slowly, he went on and sat back into his seat to relax. He was acting as if he didn't just spend a minute or two thrusting the air.
"Is there anything you need by the way?" he asked, wondering if she wanted something to drink or perhaps some more food. He wouldn't mind fetching some right now but if not that would be alright.
---
"Gotcha. And uh.. Riley. We're done thrusting so you can stop," Jericho said while patting her on the shoulder. Looking around, he tried to see if there were any students that he could jack some shades off of. It didn't take long before he spotted a certain Pup with some.
"Be right back," he said before going over towards Demi and his little group.
"Hey Demi, I'm going to need these shades for Riley. She's sorta blind right now."
That was about all the warning he gave before attempting to snatch the sunglasses right off of the Pup's face.

Malodore had remained to the side with Hasuko, after Riley's 'kidnapping' - really, she had to be safe in her dragon's claws, and there were a huge number of people here and wouldn't it just be easier to stay here next to Mister Plant for now? Yes, yes, it would.
Thus, the plague doctor and the kappa had had an excellent view of the crazed dancing that had inspired. And the, ah, the thrusting. And other such things.
"I don't think that's a very good dance," it remarked, tilting its head at the proceedings. "Not very stylish. Slightly gauche, even. If you would excuse me a moment, Hasuko?"
The plague doctor padded out onto the dance floor and tapped Riley on the shoulder. "Would not a waltz or a courtly dance be more intellectually stimulating, mia cara?" it inquired, giving Riley's gyrating pelvis a thoroughly confused look.

Stupid.... Joachim thought as he realized why she had replied but then stood there waiting on him before heading towards the buffet table, he was suppose to lead. Of course point...what was this again for screwing up, he wasn't sure he was pretty sure though he had already done a few that he couldn't think of from earlier but he was sure they would come back to haunt or dawn on him later. He did try to keep up pace with her so he could pick up a plate for her and himself. Handing it to her he hoped that maybe he didn't blunder this part up and she wouldn't be offended by his actions. The worse that could happen was her smacking across the head the plate because he touched it but he hoped it wouldn't come to that.
He waited for her to go first through the buffet line as he held out his arm as if suggesting for her to do so. Joachim wasn't all that hungry but the prospect of getting the little mouse to settle down so she didn't ruin the night for Taryn that was if he or Merel hadn't done so.

In the dark back stage behind the curtain, the hunchback had huddled, trying to bottle his panic. It was a difficult matter.
She had kissed him! Out of the blue! Just like that! Just as he got his mind wrapped around the concept of friendship, THAT happened and... and... well... kissing was NOT something one did with friends, that much he had learned, yes, his Mistress had made that clear that night when... He gave a whine, hand immediately diving into his coat pocket for his needle and thread, but his hands stopped, lips parted as he gaped into the shadows to the distant glowing form of his puppet he had left hanging on the stage for decoration, the lights of the dancefloor flickering over it.
The Scarentine's dance had been easier. He barely knew Miss Morrigan, and her parts were so nice and his fingers were trembling, images of cutting, of carefully, lovingly harvesting danced through his head, making him warm and his chest constrict. But Shehk? He was friends with Shehk... or at least he thought he was. And she was clearly still enamored with that Skinwalker bully.
His hands were trembling, his palms sweating as he slipped the needle and thread back into his pocket.
Things that had previously seemed so Black and White, so clear-cut and logical now were blurred with gray areas that made his hodgepodged brain ache as he tried to digest them.
He wasn't entirely sure what Love was, really. Not really. He knew what made him... passionate... he knew what made his skin crawl and his body feel so... alive... But the way the other students acted, he had to wonder if his general response to the feelings one got when a pretty ghoul suddenly stroked his face or ran her hands down his hunch or... or kissed him... if that immediate reaction was... normal. He had tried to talk about it with countless people, but it all still left him baffled.
There was only one person those feelings were carefully muted when she touched him, when she whispered kind words in his mind...
But she only wanted the Tool.
As it should be, as it should be, yes, yes, well...
But no, even trying to force his logic around to his favor, it still didn't work right. He gave a long whine of frustration, wobbling to his feet. He... he'd have to apologize. Maybe he would explain. He probably wouldn't. It would probably not make things better.
Poor Miss Shehk.
But he wasn't sure what she wanted from him. He wasn't an especially... cuddly person. Calder could vouch for that. But he had tried to be there for her as best he could... He should have been more attentive.
Maybe he still could. Maybe she was looking for something to patch the pain? He could still be a good friend.
Courage steeled, Christof lurched back down the steps to the door back to the auditorium, the look of a man who had seen Death on his face as he scanned the room for any sight of that glowing white hair...
Panic returned to the mix and he limped forward, scanning frantically now, but there was no sign of her. "Ah... Ah Mith Thhehk?" His voice was drowned by the pulsating music. Hell's Bells, NOW he had done it!
Suddenly, he spotted the curling, twisting form of Miss Junko's hair amongst the flashing lights. AH! She was Shehk's friend, right? Would she know? Timidly, he crept up to her and her friends, gingerly reaching to tap her arm.

Ys caught him looking back at his food and made a note to let him get some refreshment in a little bit. His response to her comment on how they must look as a pair warmed her and she replied, "Good! Then I will not mind either." She felt, more than saw, him shrug and then there they were, at the dance floor. While not precisely afraid of dancing, she did hope she would be a skilled enough partner for the boil. Dancing on land was still new to her, but she felt like she was getting the hang of it after watching the other haunts and going solo for the first part of the evening. As he drew her onto the floor, she moved with him, aware of each touch and the presence of his tail surrounding her as she took up her own pose, hand in hand and the other on his shoulder. She moved smoothly in concert with his motion, finding the arrangement of him leading her quite natural. Between observation, his guidance, and her natural ability, she found herself swaying pleasantly to the fun tune. The ghoul wiggled her fingers as her partner relaxed, flashing him another smile, this time reassuring. "You are a very good dancccer, Dekana, thisss isss quite fun!" she commented. She meant it. If he hadn't been, then it would have been extremely difficult for her to align her movements properly without knowing the moves ahead of time. It was hard to talk over the crowd and the music, but she thought he deserved to hear it.

Damien had a lopsided smile on his face watching the boil se his table manners with the plate of food he brought back for himself, by which he had None with the way he scarfed it down much like how Roch and Claire was treating their morsels. "xD next time I'll teach you some etiquette Bul." he scolded half heartedly before sliding him a napkin from the table. "That's no way to eat in front of a lady."
He would have chuckled from Bul and his face of crumbs except the brief warning of a dragon behind him and saying something caused him to spin around. "Whaaaa-" YOINK
His sunglasses were ripped off with the briefest of instances as the hound had to check his face in case the dragon boil ripped off anything else.
"Wha? oi Jericho! " was all he could call out before waving off the entire matter.
He fully expected to get back those sunglasses later tonight.
