((aww, bye ayamae))

“W-what?” Lillian muttered rolling over on the floor. When she opened her eyes she realized she was behind her desk, her eyes poking out from under it. She saw master's footsteps walk over to the doorway, and she tried to move closer to get a better look. She couldn't move. She second she tried to talk or move, it caused her unendurable pain. She looked down at her legs, and was sickened by what she saw. Her open wounds had become infected so that they were swollen and yellow-ish in some places, she looked like she had caught some horrible disease. Her dress was also so torn that it had been reduced from ankle-length to knee-length. She tried to move her arms, push herself into a sitting position, but they shook under her. Then, just as she was lieing there mute and paralyzed, she heard a voice. Catalina? Is it really you? She wanted to yell with joy. She could barely see the woman's feet, but there was no denying that voice. Maybe she had heard Lillian was trapped in here and had come to rescue her? But then as she imagined getting rescued, she heard Catalina scream. It didn't go on for long, but it had felt like hours sitting there behind the desk and watching it, not being able to help.

Lillian heard the screams getting louder, and the yells pierced her too...
I feel your pain Catalina..she thought to herself. She kept trying to move, kept trying to do something, she scrambled around, trying to move, keep herself sane and steady. Every time she moved though, at least one of her many scars all over her body would start to peel and rip off, like picking at a scab. Each time this happened, blood would drip from the now-open wounds, and she sat and watched it flow. It was like her own life was being drained before her eyes, like every moment she treasured was slowly leaking out of her.

Drip- the time she became headmistress. Drop-when Callysto confessed her love. Drip- when she carried her daughter to the common room. Drop- her first marriage to her first lover, when he had loved her. Drip- Callysto's proposal. Drop- her daughter being born...and in no particular order, these dreams, goals, memories and happy times felt like they were being sucked out of her. It was like a dementor was over her, night and day, but dementors caused a sensation of unfeeling, and all she could feel was pain. What would she give just for a small bottle of dittany...or a blood replenishing potion...or to die... Master refused to let Lillian die, because master needed her. But Lillian was wishing death would hurry up and take her. She wanted it to end now, rather than suffer. Even if she did, by some miracle, make it out of this situation, how could she move on? Surely this had scarred her for life worse than anything else she had felt..though her husband's abuse, abondoning her daughter and Callysto leaving her all came in a close second. Still, she knew, in the sliver of her mind that still functioned properly, and which was growing ever smaller, that this was bordering on beyond repair. Soon enough her mind would be permanently damaged. Soon enough her hair would turn white, and not the deep brown ringlets she still had. Soon enough, she wouldn't know who anyone was. The only bright side of this that she managed to think of were that the pain may stop if she didn't even know anything, and that she wouldn't have to sign papers, since she wouldn't even know her own name.

Of course, master was most likely making sure that Lillian stayed just on the verge of being sane, so she could at least still fall victim to the curse. Probably, that's the only reason Lillian got these breaks. Hopelessness engulfed her again whenever she evaluated the situation was in. She sighed deeply, her cheeks expanding ever so slightly, and the sensitive cut on her cheek split open, and blood trickled down her cheeks into her throat and covering her neck. As the dripping of blood on the floor resumed, Lillian still mute and un-moving behind the desk, closed her eyes, and counted them in rythm with Catalina's screams. Drip...drop...drip...drop

Then, breaking the rythm of the screams and blood flowing, she heard a rapping of claws. An owl was at her window. She thought she saw a barn owl, but couldn't be sure. Desdemona and Catalina were fighting dueling, getting tortured, whatever was going on, and didn't notice it. But soon Desdemona would be back and see it. Lillian struggled again, wanting to reach it, but she hadn't moved even an inch for hours, no matter what she tried.

The silver mist like colored Dire Wolf bounded up the stairs to the Headmistress office in search of its target Catalina Courageous, so it could deliver the message Kenneth had intrusted it with. However the charm for some reason failed to penetrate the Headmistress's door. Something that it should have had no problem accomplishing. After many attempts at trying to get though the door, the charm finally gave up and dissolved, taking its message with it into nothingness.

Desdemona lifted the curse, and Catalina dropped to the floor like a limp ragdoll. In one swift step, she was towering over the woman’s trembling form. Desdemona gave a sharp kick to her belly, and hissed, “Do you think I enjoy punishing you?” She ignored the fact that it was indeed a desired state.

She inhaled, expunging the last pieces of molten fury. “Catalina, my dearest. We can put this all behind us, everything. But only if you agree to keep quiet about sweet Lillian’s…disappearance. ” She stroked Catalina’s silky locks in a sickeningly loving way.

Gaining the strength to speak after the Cruciatus curse and the blow to the gut, Catalina managed to whisper, “Why should I?”

Desdemona’s fingers locked in Catalina’s hair and pulled the woman into a sitting position. “If you don’t think that is reasonable, we can solve this in another fashion,” she growled. “I’m sure your students will love to learn about Muggle Studies from me. And we can just dispose of you. In the Dark Forest, no one will find the body!” She stared down intently at the long, white neck of the offending teacher.

Realizing her assailant’s direction, Catalina swallowed, eyes finally brimming with tears. Desdemona was forcing her to choose between death and the death of her morality, and she did not know which was worse. A lump welled in Catalina’s throat, and a sob threatened to escape. Finally, weakly, she whispered, “Headmistress van Nikolai is safe in her office.”

“Good girl,” Desdemona breathed, and lightly touched her thin lips to Catalina’s alabaster neck. She released the teacher’s raven hair and helped her up. “You may leave now, and remember, keep quiet!” The last part was more of a snarl than anything.

Catalina was too dazed to react when Desdemona kissed her or when she helped her stand. Lacking her usual poise and grace, she wobbled out of the office; the door had been unlocked by Desdemona, and it stood awaiting her departure expectantly.

As she heard the great mahogany door slam behind her, Catalina’s composure faded, and she broke down into tears like a beaten child. She could never face anyone ever again! Her cowardice sickened her. Realizing she was in no state to return to class, she walked shakily to the grounds to contemplate her situation. Swallowing, her throat was raw and painful. With a sudden thought, Catalina realized she was the one who was screaming.

Lillian heard the door slam, and was grateful catalina was safe, but now she feared for her own life. The owls claws were rapping louder now, and her blood was still dripping on the floor. She shivered violently and stayed behind the desk, not being able to move anyways. Her teeth were chattering noisily as she tried to prepare herself for the torture curse she may face, the imperius curse she might be placed under...but it was like preparing yourself to die.It was something you had to face, but something it was impossible NOT to fear.

Finally rid of Catalina's presence, Desdemona was acutely aware of a scraping noise. It was like nails on a chalkboard. She looked in the direction of the infernal screeching, and saw an owl scratching its talons on the office window.

Opening the window, she grabbed the bird tightly, lest it fly away. She ripped off the message, read it, and chuckled. "Lillian!" she called, anxious to let her captive in on the joke.

She tried to speak, but just gagged on her words. "M-masbt-urgh..." She had meant to say master, but still didn't feel up to it. She was starving as well. "M-masttt-burgh...hungree..." she moaned.

Then master grabbed the note, Lillian had nearly forgotten about it, the scraping becoming a bit of a beat in her head, she really hadn't heard it much anymore. "N-owte..furh...mee?"

Disgusted at Lilly's bastardization of the English language, Desdemona replied, "It's from your daughter, Alison. She seems quite worried about you. Perhaps you would like to write back?" This last bit was said in a sweet tone unbefitting Desdemona's character.

Noting the way the headmistress was rubbing her belly, she realized Lillian was hungry. "I might even get you something to eat," she said gently.

She looked up at master on the words 'something to eat', and her stomach gave a faint rumble. She began coughing, her insides twisting up in anger at the lack of anything edible. She tried to keep a straight face and not look worried as she replied in the most proper tone she could muster: "C-catalina...I heard her...wut didyu do to hurh? Alison..duhn't huhrt..don't huhrt Alison."
