"Don't know the name, huh? Ain't that a cryin' shame. And would you look at that, more fire." The renegade brought the orbs of blue fire back behind him, grinning as he said, "If I have to choose, it'll be retreat. But not before I wipe that smug look off of your face. I'll be satisfied if I only place your head on a platter, you haughty mage." The renegade lobbed the balls of Will, a sly grin on his face as he already calculated the next move.

Heh, only one move and I know their strategy. Those two guards are going to try and keep me on my toes until Fancypants McFirehousen can nuke me. Typical. When all is said and done... Heh... That mage is as good as dead.

The rogue summoned the Revblade as the ethereal samurai armor covered his body, giving him a slight protection from the heat of the flames as he charged at the two guards. Darkness and Will began to gather around the Revblade as he began to close the distance, albeit at a somewhat leisurely pace in comparison to his normal speed. For one hoping the beat the clock on the mage's nuke spell, he didn't seem to be in much of a hurry.

'You've gotta be kidding me!'

Was James' mental reaction as things seemed to erupt into chaos from there, this was battle after all so the corsair expected it, but not quite this. His focus was on Kyle as he watched him fire off a holy blast from his mouth, only to be interrupted by his own bullets striking the swallow wielder. In return though Kyle raised his hand and fired off some kind of blast at him. It was as fast as his bullet and he could do very little to dodge it.

"Gah!"

'He has more ranged capabilities then I thought...'

The corsair yelled out as the blast hit him, creating a small explosion that if not for his magical clothing definitely would have scorched his skin at the very least. Louis' attack came next and right at the same time as the song changed and suddenly James' attention was locked on the meteors falling toward them.

"Yikes!"

"Put some energy into it James! You look more dead then alive and if this was a real battle you would be!"

Strange advice but it was definitely good at this time, quickly focusing some kinetic energy into his feet at the last possible second right before Louis' dagger hit his ribcage the corsair turned away from the attack and pushed off hard against the ground...

The result blew the corsair's mind as he was propelled toward the wall, away from Louis and the meteors at such a speed that his movement became semi-blurred. Amazingly not distorting his vision with the boost of speed. When the sensation stopped and James' feet touched the ground he looked where he was. The burst of speed had propelled the corsair a good fifteen feet at the same angle that he had been facing, now he was standing right against the wall. Before even thinking he turned and fired another bullet at the Shadow-mancer and another one at Kyle from this new angle.

'That was really cool... I think that was what would be called Dash...'

James successfully learned Dash!

The guards held their ground, bringing their blades up into defensive positions, waiting for the magus behind them to finish his incantation. As the samurai neared them, the mage cocked his head up to the ceiling and threw his arms out, finishing the long-awaited spell.

Suddenly, all three of them were coated in variously colored auras- a faint blue (Protect), a light purple (Shell), a tint of green (Regen); at the same time, yellow clocks appeared underneath each of them, the hands on the clocks speeding up before vanishing (Haste).

The Guado's hands immediately dropped to his sides as he took a breather, though he seemed far from worried or weary; quite the contrary, he seemed almost prideful. It was truly a good thing that he'd not been interrupted, lest the mass-buff spell been stopped in its entirety.

The ronin came to a halt, grinning at the three as they were suddenly buffed. He only smiled at the trio, his expression easily summed up by the word "condescending". So he was planning on buffing them first, huh? This is a change to my plans, but not one that cannot be easily accommodated.

The rogue started to laugh under his breath, chuckling low at first before finally exploding into maniacal laughter. "This is great! I was afraid you morons wouldn't last long enough for me to flex my muscles! Come on, I'll even give you the first hit- One freebie for each of you!"

If Kyla wasn't grateful for having thought of sketching and recording their journeys thus far- she was now! It saved time and effort trying to file through the scattered memories in peoples minds. So much had happened in these few days... it seemed like an eternity already.

Dropping back towards the bewildered Alan who was stating his confusion to them, the pictomancer pried open her sketchbook and turned the pages it all the way back to the begining pages.

A collage of images would pass before his eyes. Pictures of places, people, objects, texts reading certain points, mapped out scenarios and of course, everything was signed and dated by the cataloguer herself. Till at last her deft fingers haulted at the near begining page, on an image of a floating peice of earth- hovering amounst other fragments soaring up into an the abyss above.


"Alright... would you like the detailed rehash- or everything in a nutshell?"

[ Seymour ; ??? : Bamboo Thicket ]

The black-cloaked woman remained silent, as she had the entire time she'd been present. She simply stood to the side, as if waiting for permission to speak.

"Just a check-up on your heart, so to speak," Seymour replied, walking up to the younger male, looking down into his eyes (he wasn't quite towering over the human, which was a surprise). A quick touch of the Maester's inhumanely long index finger to Nicholas' chest sufficed, and would have given the Avatar of Chaos a strange chill as his chest tightened ever so slightly.

"Your heart takes to the Darkness well enough, to be certain," the half-Guado said with an interested look in his eyes, locking sights once again. "Are you ready to fully accept the Darkness? If there is any hesitation or doubt, it could very well swallow you whole."

From the corner of his eyes, Nicholas may have spotted a brief movement from his teacher; the hood had turned just enough that she could glance at the young man, as if anxious to here his choice.
