"Being a hero,the rewards are big and the plunder of adventure is enormous." I reclined in my chair and felt pretty smug of myself.

"Wow! really?! all these treasures are from being a hero?" I said in ah looking at the books. To myself such objects were more important than gold or food. It amazed me how many wonderful titles Cloud had.

"Knowledge is key in this world. In fact,I'd choose it over all the money in the world. My idea of using it is throught selfless acts of heroism. All the materialistics will follow eventually." A hero,could I even call myself that? Did I deserve that title?

"Well in order to earn such lovely rewords you must have bin a great hero long before I came around huh?" I put the book down and returned to the couch "and I am sure you will continue to do as you think best in times to come."

"I sure hope so. Staying on the path of good is hard. Especially when you've got the temptation of the badassery and betterness of the dark side. Sometimes being the light hero does suck. I once saved an entire town and all I got was a 'Thanks! Goodbye!' while everyone marveled over the visiting half-vampire,half-demon. Kids just wanna be of that sort these days:badasses."

I nodded "That seems to be how it works, no one cares for the hero. . ." I smiled "But it's the knowing your doing the right thing that is the good part right?" I asked.

"I guess. If I'm actually getting appreciated for it. I mean seriously. No one would ever wanna be like me or envy me or be my apprentice or partner. I'm just the guy who get's taken for granted. It's the Shut-Up-and-Enjoy-Your-Rewards lifestyle and it sucks 80% of the time." I finished my tea and sighed.

I looked at Cloud with an odd face "But I chose to be your partner didn't I?" I asked "We are friends i had to help you and then the idea of helping people sounded great to me." I said "I do not care if I get rewarded or not."

I smiled and looked at Nym. "I guess you're right. Having you as a friend has been my greatest reward. Though I actually didn't do anything to help you. We just got buzzed off of popsicles and voila! You just helped me in life and I never got the chance to repay you."

I laughed with her,sharing the enjoyment. Being in this house always felt like we were detached from the outside world,giving me a good feeling. I wouldn't have moments like this any other way.

I stopped laughing to gesture at he room "This!" I said. "The house and everything. All that seems to count. Though being able to have a friend as fun as you is payment enough. You are the best!" I said.

"Well do any of my books interest you? Any of treasures or danger? The door exploring needs a break." I cracked one open. It was my old,little diary,though on the front it says it's a journal to make it seem manly.
