"Working on it," Lin replied.
She couldn't help but smile, she felt sorry for Earendil but she knew Senka well. He had been doing well up until they came back that late at night. Senka was as possessive as they came and she didn't think highly of males.
"At least it was just a pounce," she added, "Though Kaito you aren't helping by laughing."

"Is it my fault I'm enjoying this?" Kaito grinned at Lin. "I'm family, Senka has no reason to pounce on me. But just to be safe ..." He grinned at the cat. "You pounce me and I'll see to it you don't get any fish as long as I'm around. How does that sound?"
Earendil tried not to smile. It wasn't fair at all, though it would be easy for him to make just such a promise. Still, he wanted to get along with Senka by reason of merit, not a bribe or threat.

Senka pouted at Kaito before turning her back to him, but she probably wouldn't pounce on him, not unless she could get away with it anyways. Lin could only sigh at her cat's antics.
"She's my cat... and she doesn't like to share for long periods of time," Lin murmured, "And she doesn't like guys all that much."

"Noted," Earendil commented dryly. He held up his hands. "Well, these hands belong to this 'guy', so I guess if she doesn't like guys ..." He shrugged and folded his arms. "You can't be picky, Senka. It's all or nothing with me."
It was neither a bribe nor a threat. It was a simple fact. He would not allow her to take advantage of him when she wanted to, or take abuse from her that was unwarranted.

Senka's eyes narrowed as she peered over her shoulder, she liked Earendil's hands but she also liked Lin. She curled up against Lin's stomach and stated.
"Mine."
"Great.... a battle of kitty wills," Lin murmured taking another bite of her breakfast, she swallowed and added, "And for the record I'm no one's."

"Not strictly true," Earendil replied, watching Senka suspiciously. "You are you parents' daughter. Perhaps it's not quite a possession, but you make it sound as if you have no ties with anyone."
Perhaps he was just irritated now, but the tone of Lin's final comment seemed a bit harsh.

Lin looked up from her now finished breakfast with a smile, she wondered if Senka was bothering Earendil more than she thought. She had always sort of accepted and to an extent just learned not to feed Senka's ego.
Pushing her plate aside she picked up her cat and had her face Earendil.
"Senka knows what I mean and she knows I don't like it when she's mean to my friends..." Senka pouted, "Put me down." "Then you'll remember what happened when you pounced on Kin."
Senka huffed and squirmed out of Lin's hands until she was back onto the ground. She pouted but she knew she wasn't going to get her way.
"She'll learn," Lin giggled softly at Earendil poking him, "Don't worry about it. She said sorry to Kin eventually."
Though Kin's dog demon side so worked against him for the longest time, so Earendil she was sure wouldn't take anywhere near as long to get Senka to finally say sorry and that she wouldn't do it again.

Earendil squirmed a bit as Lin poked him. "I only wonder if she truly meant it," he said dryly. Then he smiled at Lin. "If you're finished, then perhaps we should go," he suggested. "The day won't wait for us, after all."
Kaito stood up right away, grinning. "Excellent," he beamed. "Not that I have anything against the indoors, but it's a beautiful day, and it's not as hot here as other areas. Come on you two!"
He eyed Senka. "Three."

"Alright," Lin replied getting up from her seat.
She felt sorry for Earendil, more because he was having issues with one of the most stubborn creatures ever. Of course Lin had to remind herself a normal housecat did not even exist in the Fourlands much less a talking one with wings.
Senka huffed and followed along knowing she wasn't going to catch any rides this time.

As Kaito had promised, the tailor's was not far, and he led the way into the shop. He of course had been there the day before, so there were no strange looks from the tailor or the person behind the counter, though the woman whose son was being measured did give the group a strange look.
"Welcome back," the woman behind the counter welcomed the group in High Elven, smiling at them. "If there is anything that I can help you with, please let me know."
There were several different kinds of fabrics on display - velvet, silk, spidersilk, wool - and on one of the shelves on the far wall were samples of the colours that they could be dyed. There were no pre-made clothes: everything at this shop was custom tailored for each customer.

Lin really felt out of her element here, there were just so many choices. She wasn't really a clothes person, Helen often had control over her wardrobe within limits.
She was somewhat surprised that they had silk, always hearing about spidersilk here she had wondered at one point or another if they even had just silk. No cotton though... which didn't surprise her.
Lin looked up at the colours, she didn't need anything fancy, and white was preferable since they were still traveling.
"There's a lot here...."

Earendil looked around thoughtfully. "I may have to replace at least one of my shirts as well while we're here," he murmured. Since of course he was now down by two. "Though I suppose we'll be back home soon enough ..."
He looked down at Lin. "You would probably do best with spidersilk, what with the weather and all ... and perhaps we should get you a few extra bolts to take home to your brother?"
"I'd love that," Kaito spoke up eagerly. "Spidersilk makes the best clothes, and it's so hard to find in Gaia!"

Lin nodded absently, "Helen had been complaining how his reserves were running low."
It had been so difficult for him to get a hold of the stuff, he was half tempted to find out how it was made and get someone to supply it for him. Helen when first being introduced to it fell in love with it, and wished to get more.
"He and Trisha should come and sell something like the cloak he made for Elnara-sissy, then he could get a hold of the spidersilk more easily."
Especially since Trisha applied the same techniques used to paint normal worm silk instead of embroidery it, though she was good at that too.

Earendil looked thoughtful at that. "Well, if they want to, I'm sure they could sell their wares in Tor Karad whenever they have something to sell, and use their profit to buy more spidersilk," he suggested. "We have a larger supply there than anywhere else - it being the capital and all ..."
He shrugged. "Just an idea."

Lin thought about it, Helen wanted to expand his horizons and he would be thrilled at the idea.
"I'll tell him that then," Lin replied, "He'll enjoy it."
Or rather he would enjoy making a show of it and then choosing not just cloaks but what designs he could introduce... and... Lin was suddenly glad she was short, she was not going to get drawn into the whole modeling thing again.
"Really enjoy it.... anything new."
