Kal continued observantly down the red lit hallway. Searching for rany sign of a trap.

(( I thought that was the system we used as well, so I did. Guess we wait for Tonas to get back from 'The Holidays'.))

Selce motioned a hand for the party to continue. She would have to wait to get all of the information from the spell before it she would be able to tell anything about them. She waited for Kal to take the lead and someone else so she could assume the middle position.

((Big post incoming; and yes, Kaiten and Zero are correct. Mundane items are transferred straight into gold))

Identification
Longbow of the Clouds- Gifts the user's arrows with an energy based tip. Small Electrical damage bonus to all ranged attacks.
Longsword of the Panther-Grants a slightly increased attack speed to the user. Small damage bonus to all melee attacks.

No traps detected

The group nears the exit of the small tunnel and enter a medium-sized altar chamber. Numerous candles are lit throughout the room, dusty tomes are stacked high with overturned and derelict furniture.

At the far end of the chamber, the cultist who fled the earlier room now stood facing away from them, his hands on the Dragon's Eye.

"Yes. Yes, of course, my lord. But I must protest that I- Do not speak to me in such a manner. You may be the voice of the Destroyer, but you are not him. I will do as you ask, but not because I approve, I do so for him alone."

With that, the light from the orb faded and focused in on itself and remained floating mid-air. Malfius, the cultist turns and looks straight towards those nearest the door.

"Come out, I see you there. There is no use hiding from me. Come, let us exchange words. You have slain my compatriots, it seems only fit that people so skilled in the art of battle should also be as skilled in the art of dialogue. Will you not accept the offer of an opportunity to avoid more bloodshed?"

"Be ready for a confrontation, but do not attack until what will come has passed" He whispered to the party, he put his hand on Kal's shoulder being careful not to touch his acid burns as he squeezed through.

Erron stepped forward, not so close that he would be beyond saving in case the so called negotiations went to pot, but within range to make him seem willing for open discussion.

"We could not help overhear, but from the looks of it, it seems the Destroyer, or at least, their speaker, has a request to make of us, and whatever it is you don't like it, so what possibly could there be for one to offer the other?"

Malfius gazed upon the monk who had stepped forward, his nostrils flared, exhaling smoke slightly upon his blunt observation.

"Not truly. There is no request, nor any sort of contract to be fulfilled by my contact, nor our master; least of all by you. I speak to you right now of my own accord."

He stepped down from the altar and took a few steps forward.

"You serve the wretches above this shrine. They seek the Eye, and wish to use it for their own gains, because they believe they can wield the power that once oppressed them. They are greed-filled ignorant minded pigs. I gave up my humanity long ago to serve a greater cause. The true masters of the world will one day return to reclaim what was rightfully theirs."

In each of the dragonoid's hands appeared a glowing silver sword, they were not magically conjured, they had been brought from their sheaths at a frighteningly fast speed. He stood several yards away, but was no less imposing.

"My entire purpose for conversing with you is to know my prey. My life I give gladly to the overlords, should I fail here, I die fulfilled. By stating that I wished to avoid more bloodshed... I should have rephrased it as 'Would you not accept the offer to die quickly, instead of prolonging your demise?'"

The chief cultist grinned wickedly as he regarded the arcanist in the group.

"I trust that little pathetic excuse for a whelpling died screaming? His entire race is a blight upon all that is draconic. He is not even worthy of being called a dragon."

Kal disliked the hold from Erron, knowing it was meant to control him from attacking, but understood and stayed still. He then heard the words and wished direly to fight this annoying creature. He went into the shadows, his home sweet home.

Throughout the exchange Laren silently flanked their foe, understanding the power of stratigic positioning. When the cultist drew forth his blades she notched an arrow in her new enchanted bow and took aim.

((Beware very angry spellcasting lady about to blast a cultist!))

Selce stared at the arrogant cultist. "Oh he is quite alright, the pitiful attacks of your, as you said 'compatriots, weren't very strong." She said with a confident grin, despite the truth. "I do assume you wish to die, confronting so many at once by yourself." She said loudly pushing the rage she felt down. Rage didn't fit well with casting spells, the slightest mistake and the spell could go awry. She would wait for him or one of her companions to attack before she would begin her spells, even though the pain Melkor suffered nearly demanded her to get some revenge.

Malfius chuckled darkly at first, then growing into hysterical laughter. He spun about, his robes shredding in the process. Large, scaly wings outstretched on either side of the cultist as he stood before them. He lifted off the ground and made a massive wind buffet!

1 All party members are knocked down, disrupting any current spellcasts/stealth or channeled abilities. Minor Damage.
2-5 Only those channeling abilities are knocked down. Minor damage.
6 All members of the party resist the buffet.

Results: Everyone holds fast as the gust of gale-force winds rush past. Malfius seems undaunted though as he smiles smugly and taunts you all as he drops into a defensive stance.

((Were not fighting yet!))

"Huh! So you're some sort of an advanced Dragon-Ilk then?" Erron calmly stated, keeping his voice controlled and even edging on cold above the constant, yet ineffective gale. "I'll give you this much: the cultists keeping you company were stronger than the Bone Golem construct we faced on the way here, and you're obviously on a wholly other level from them and that's all I will give you. You are out numbered, you could not escape even if you wanted to should the battle not go your way, and your wings do not provide much of an advantage in this enclosed tomb unless you want us to rip them off of your back, I yield my time for my other companions to share their two bits."

Erron heeded Selce's distinct emotions on the subject of her Familiar but loathed the idea of leaving her open to direct assault. he began keeping track of his position in relation to Malfius, Selce and Laren, trying to keep himself between them so Malfius would be kept from being able to attack them directly while at the same time not standing in the line of fire from either of their long range fighters in a crucial moment

Tjaden stepped forward to stand beside Erron. The creature had already decided to fight, so Tjaden was ready to leap in front of any attack it made.
"I am more interested in knowing more about the orb, Malfius. If it proves to be too dangerous an item, we may just have to leave it here. I, for one, will not take back any object that will cause harm to those above us." Tjaden said. He wanted to know more about the orb, for knowledge had its power. He hoped he could coax the mutated mass of scales into revealing more about the orb.

Selce pointed her ever present quarterstaff at the leader of the cultists. "We might as well kill him. He is mad, suicidal, or both." She announced carefully. She was in control of herself enough to stay behind Erron and Tjaden, even if just barely able to. She tried to call to mind a spell that would even be effective against something with a dragon's natural defenses. 'Just in case.' she rationalized to herself.

The dragonoid chuckled in response to Tjaden's question.

"You really think you can sway the minds of the avarice minded fools above? Even if you slay me, refuse to take the artifact and return to your masters, how long do you think it will be, with my brethren and I gone, before they send other, less 'noble' souls down here to take what you did not? No, little demon offspring, you are no more than a misguided pawn on a playing field far larger than you can possibly fathom."

He turned his gaze to the arcanist.

"And you, mageling. Your rage runs deep, your emotions betray your inexperience. You know not what you face in the coming days. Do you not wish to be freed from your pitiful existence? Hehehe... You fail to see what is ahead, the Eye will tell you. The Eye will grant you that knowledge. The Eye, if in your hands, might just reveal all you've ever wondered and more. Let such thoughts linger, there is much to be accomplished from them."

Malfius pointed his sword towards the arcanist, mirroring her own motion and smiled a very toothy grin.

"Kill me, and draw your own conclusions."

Kal, while in the shadows, thought about a backstab, but decided a second route. He attempted to grab the Eye and run.

((I figure Kal was the first one to understand the dragons, and is greedy anyway. If anyone will listen to the demented words and try to become a dragon-human. Kal would. If he dies in this, I'll just make a healer, and try him. We direly need one. Besides, a flying Halfling would have the element of surprise. Haha.))

As Kal attempts to dive towards the Dragon's Eye, he crashes against a magical barrier, being dealt minor damage upon impact, and losing his stealth.

It appears Malfius must be defeated before the barrier can be dispelled.

"I will not surrender the eye until my body is broken and my lifeblood spilled. Little thief, for all your cunning, you stupidly rush blindly to your death. If you wish obliteration so greatly, I will grant your desire."

With that, the dragonoid began chanting and moving its arms slowly.
