"I will." Damian snuggled up to her quite contentedly and nuzzled his nose just below her jaw. He was careful not to wrap his arms around her too much, because he knew she was hurt. It didn't stop him from trying, though, and eventually they were in a comfortable snuggle.
"My boss asked about you," Lorey mentioned from out of nowhere. "She asked if you were a real looker. And I had to smile and say yes, you are a 'real looker.'" Her cheeks pinked a bit at his expression. She wasn't sure how, but she always managed to make him self-conscious when he didn't have to be. "Ooh, and she also asked me if she would ever get to see you. She's a real spry old woman, so you better watch out."

Raquel appreciated his gentleness and soon found herself in calm enough of a state to actually attempt to sleep. Which surprising to her, she did.
Richard blushed a little, rubbing the back of his neck out of habit once again. "Ah- Well I've got the most amazing woman in the galaxy to call my own, so I think I'll be fine. I'll behave." He gave her a playful wink though was still slightly embarassed.

"You better." Lorey smiled and pinched him playfully on the arm. Small moments with him in a place they were learning to call home were the very things she lived off of. As much as she loved having a job once again, and knowing that she had an income, Richard was a constant factor in her life that she could depend on. Soon he would get a job as well, and together they would slowly save up for their wedding. Long engagements, she'd been told, really helped couples in their position. "So, my dear, we are engaged, the other couple in the house is going through their true test, and the rest of the day is free. What now?"

Richard smiled, still holding her as he thought. "Well, we could simply read or snuggle the day away love, I'm really game for anything as long as I'm with you..." He said softly, kissing her sweetly on the nose. Richard had to admit to himself, that just a few months ago, he would have never been able to imagine himself here. In a rather luxurious home, with an amazing woman he was to marry, idly wondering how they should spend their day. Quite contrary to drinking the day away, followed by getting himself into fight after fight, lonely sleepless nights, always thinking of way to get revenge on Rose's killer...which he just realized her never did. There would still be time. That was one part of him that he was having trouble putting to rest. He loved Lorey, and didn't want to do anything to upset her, or anything that would take him away from her, or put her in danger. But at the same time He still had the blood lust for revenge against his old love's killer. Sveriana was still out there. She would indeed come after him and Lorey, as well as Damian and Raquel at some point. He knew this. Maybe that alone was the reason he felt uneasy amidst all this perfection and happiness.

"I did want to finish my book," she said, visibly perking up at the thought. "How often do you read, Richard? You've been on the move for so long that I think you need to sink into a story."
Even if their lives were practically award-winning novels on their own, Lorey felt comfort in being able to distract herself with someone else's life and words. She wasn't one to follow celebrities around, especially not after her experience in the ball room, and so these people who only existed in pages and the minds of the readers would have to do. There was that distraction, as well as the ideas they gave her in daydreams. Sometimes, she found, while arranging flowers, she thought of the strange creatures called dragons, or of the many adventures that took place on islands, like Altru. Hadn't they had an adventure, she wondered? It was funny how she realized that adventures are usually terrible until after they're done.

Richard sighed a little, thinking. "I'm not much of a reader. Never really had the time. Mostly just the morning paper at breakfast back-" He stopped himself. He was about tolerate back when he shared breakfasts with his Rose. She would always sneak out one or two of the articles, either for her own enjoyment, to keep him from getting in a tirade about whats going on in the world, or to simply mess with him. They were good memories, but ones he didn't want to recollect now. He was creating new, lovely memories with Lorey. "- A long time ago..." He corrected, giving her a squeeze. "Why don't we head off to the library and just spend the day together Hm?" He asked, giving her a little snuggle before looking for her answer.

Lorey loved the sound of that, even if his faltered sentence caused her concern. She loved also how Richard supported her reading, not finding it silly or a wasted effort.
"Alright then!" she said, sounding cheery and steering him in the direction of the library by her arm around his waist. As they walked, Lorey thought of what Richard might enjoy, or what he may not want to read because of dangerous similarities to his own story. Reading also made her reflect upon herself or find things to dislike, though those were fixable.
Richard, though, needed her, because she was right by his side and not in the pages of a book or in a mere memory. Upon entering the library, Lorey looked at the very center of it, with its marble floor shining with the colors of the stained glass dome above. There was hope and magic in those colors, as well as the books Damian had stowed away upon the curved walls.
"So, what'll it be?" she asked, looking around for the novel she'd started and left behind.

Richard had noted how the droids Damian had spoke of, had indeed cleaned the place up since their last encounter with Terra here. He felt unease as he remembered the shock of seeing his beloved bleeding and hurt against one of the book shelves, Raquel standing bloodied and unharmed above her. He did feel slight guilt for reacting the way he did, but he knew he had good reason to. Raquel had a questionable past, and had a lot against her. As far as he knew, she still did, but he tried to let that go and to a certain extent, 'trust' her.
"You pick Love, I'm a terrible judge. I tend to follow the impression I get from the front cover..." He said, amused at his twist of the old saying, though doubted it was really as funny as he intended in his mind.

Lorey, too, was thinking about Terra. It had been a horrifying experience, to be sure, giving her phantom pains in her wrists as she remembered being pinned, sliced and cracked. Richard had blamed Raquel, who now Lorey could understand how she could be a culprit. Her past was shady...
"Do you think she'll come back?" she asked Richard as her eyes trailed up to the opening in the dome. The lithe super had jumped in and out like a wound up cat, with eyes to match and a frightening nature to match. Lorey was so sick of having to look over her shoulder all the time. Richard and the others were her only comfort, as she had started to hate being left alone.

Richard looked to Lorey, furrowing his brow slightly. "I...I honestly don't know. Though I have a feeling she won't too soon..." He put a comforting arm around her. "But it doesn't matter...I'm here for you, and I won't let her touch you..."

She turned herself towards him and wrapped her arms around his middle, and squeezed him for dear life. A part of her heart didn't really believe what he said. Life had conditioned her to accept people's kinds words but expect nothing from them. Richard, though, had fulfilled a few promises. Swimming was becoming easier for her, and really only because he had taught her with patience.
"I love you," she whispered with one more squeeze. When she pulled back, her eyes looked up at him with the words stuck in them like stars.

Richard looked down at those big blue eyes. He found it odd, and yet striking how from just one look into those gorgeous pools of blue, he could be brought to tears. Though he'd never show that. Instead, he furrowed his brow, kissing her gently. "I love you Dove...." He said gently, kissing her forehead after that. "Love..." He said gently, having something on his mind for awhile now. "I...I was thinking about our conversation earlier ....about my mother?" He seemed uncomfortable and unwilling to speak. "I...I was thinking about visiting her soon...." He said softly. He hoenstly didn't care if if saw her again, but some part of him felt guilty, and the other wanted Lorey to know what was left of his only family.

"Were you?" It seemed like such a huge step forward for him. Not that Richard was one to run away from all his problems, but Lorey remembered how distinctly uneasy she felt when Richard wanted nothing more than to run from his problems. And yet, here he was, willing to confront his mother. She wondered how he was doing with quitting his smoking habit, too, and knowing how hard both of them must be on him, she appreciated him even more.
"Would you want me to go with you? It's alright if you want to go alone..." But she would always be there to hold his hand when he needed help.

Richard bit his lips in thought, sighing. "If you wouldn't mind...I'd like you to meet her..." he said in all honesty, though still slightly dreading the visit. "She'd love you to death..." His face softened as he looked at her witha reassuring smile. He wasn't sure if it were for her or himself.

"Just like I know she loves you." A distinct pang went through her heart that was all too familiar. It was the feeling of her missing her own mother, and wishing she was still there... "And don't argue otherwise, because I remember my own momma being caught in the worst of times and still loving me no matter what. We'll go together..."
After a few stragely quiet moments, she whispered, "I wish I could show you to mine."
She wished she knew where they were. She wished she had the courage to find out, or the desire to try and ingratiate herself in an established family. Lorey would be the outsider, the slum daughter of the one who ran off. There was, after all, the possibility that things would only become complicated, if these people she didn't even know even wanted her again. If they ever wanted her.
