Isiah followed after him, releasing angry breath through his nostrils rather than answering Q's statement. Answering it would validate it. He rubbed the back of his neck, his muscles aching from hours of tense worry. He wasn't really sure what else to say- he knew that.. if they stayed.. it was only a matter of time until someone attacked Q during the day. But their outlook outside of the encampment wasn't exactly rosy, either.

Bornes took one, two more bucketfuls of water before satiating his thirst.
His tail still wagging, he asked, "You said I had rights to food? Where is that?"

Isiah gave Q a strange look. He'd not killed a man maybe.. oh.. three minutes ago and he was all ready hungry, over the murder. "I don't know. I haven't asked Kaegan yet." They had been treading on thin ice all along, and he wasn't about to ask Kaegan any questions now.

Bornes turned to Isiah, with almost an incredulous look on his face.
"We've been wasting our own supplies when you had food openly available from another source? What if we had been banished?"

Borned turned away, waving his hand, as if the subject weren't that important. His eyes focused on Kaegan's hovel. Currently unguarded.
His tail was still wagging.

"Tsurai had a bed. What do you think Kaegan will do with it now?"

Isiah gave him a long, disgusted look of disbelief. "You can't be serious. Ten seconds ago you were scared for you life because you killed another man, and now all the sudden you are ready to jump on all of his things? You're disgusting." Isiah threw his hands up. He'd had enough. Obviously his delicate little flower wasn't too delicate to desecrate the dead.

He turned back toward their home, walking quickly, groaning in his chest.

Bornes' tail slowed as he turned to Isiah, who was now walking off after he'd said he was disgusted.

"Isn't it normal to be afraid of punishment?" He asked. Normal voice. Isiah probably wouldn't answer.
He turned to look at Kaegan's home again before sighing.

Why was he all over Kaegan's things? Maybe he was just elated he didn't have to starve any more. Plus, Isiah had said Kaegan couldn't touch Bornes, now.

The hybrid's worries had flown to the wind when Isiah had said Kaegan couldn't touch him. Bornes trusted Isiah. Why shouldn't he?

Everyone died. Yes, it was sad Tsurai had died. But it was an accident. There was no use crying over spilled milk.

Bornes frowned and rolled his head on his shoulders. It was still early. He shouldn't waste away the whole night moping or being apologetic. He could play that act tomorrow. For now, he wanted to celebrate.

He looked around, then took a few steps toward Kaegan's home.
No, he thought to himself. That would be stupid.
He was alpha, after all.

Bornes went in the opposite direction, his tail beginning to wag again. He started to go outside of town. He looked around cautiously, making sure no one was watching him before he let out a few barks, calling for Jane to accompany him.

Venison would be good, and no one would know.

Jane was with Kaegan, laid down beside him, her head rested on his thigh as he sat in an indian position, freshly dug dirt packed by a shovel. His face was in his hands- there were no sobs, no tears, just a broken man seated before a grave.

She lifted her head at the bark, snuffling Kaegan's side once or twice to try to rouse him. When he didn't move she gave a canine snort before rising to her feet, licking his hand before trotting leisurely to the other side of town. When she laid her eyes on Q, she remained a good five yards away, ears folded back, head low. She still didn't quite trust him, and with good reason.

Bornes kept walking, looking about for Jane.
She didn't seem like she was coming. Oh well.

He knew the general direction of the storm cellar, so he just headed that way, trying to remember. He knew he wouldn't get lost if Jane had led him, but he'd take the chance of getting lost when the venison was the prize he was looking for.

Besides, he knew what the entrance looked like, he could rely on his sight.
He never looked back, and therefore, never saw Jane.

But he did manage to meander to the storm cellar, a few times wandering off the trail. He made it there in about three hours. And was all to eager to slide open the door and hop down into the cellar, looking around for the meat.

It seemed like with everything that had been going on, Kaegan had not managed to bring his boys here and ransack the place. Bornes grinned delightedly, and took one of the jars, sitting down with the glass in his lap.

"A well deserved meal, my friend," he said to himself before opening the jar with its pressure-sealed top popping as air was released.

He put the top down and stuck his fingers in, taking one strip after another. He ate it slow, relishing every bit of it.

Jane stalked after Q quietly, only appearing to him once he had walked down into the shelter, ducking her head down to give a quiet snort, pulling her head bck up, ears folded flat against her head.

Bornes looked up once he heard the snort.

"Oh, so you show up after all, now?" he said, looking up to the accusing Jane.

The dog looked at him, a bit confused.

"Bah, even a dog can't appreciate French?" He asked rhetorically.
"If you had led me here, I would've given you some deer. But I will not do that now. You should've come earlier."

He popped another strip of venison into his mouth to rub the hurt in. Not that the dog even understood him.
He wondered why he wasn't questioning why he was even talking to this animal at all.
Maybe it was because a part of him had actually enjoyed pretending to be a werewolf earlier. Aside from the whole accidentally killing a person, anyway.

Some time later, he had finished half the jar, and looked down at it longingly.
He knew if he took it back, he'd probably be found out. And if he left it here half empty, Kaegan would discover it on his next visit. Bornes was too full to eat the rest, but shoved another one into his mouth and ate it painfully, his stomach feeling as it if was about to burst.
Still worth it, he thought to himself afterward, pushing himself up.

The hybrid picked up the lid and placed it ontop of the jar, twisting it lightly before tossing it up out of the door and climbing out of the shelter.
He closed the door once more, and picked up the jar, unscrewing the lid again and pouring the venison down for Jane to eat the rest.

Once it was all on the ground, he screwed the lid on the jar and threw it out as far as he could, hearing it clank and break off in the distance somewhere.

He put his hands in his pockets and waited for Jane to finish eagerly eating her meal. Once she was done, he turned back toward the encampment.

"You want to go home now after that good meal, yes? Lead the way?"

His tail wagged, but he stepped forward regardless if the dog listened to him or not. It would be a long, but satisfying, trip back home.
And he didn't feel one ounce of guilt, either.

Jane watched the hybrid through wide eyes, hungrily wolfing down the food that Q had kindly laid out for her. She licked clean the dirt and gravel that the venison had fallen on, snorting outward after she was done, licking her chops.

As if she understood she turned to start leisurely walking back toward their home, though she veered slightly west to walk back toward Kaegan, unbeknownst to Bornes. Eventually his figure could be seen in the distance, still sitting in the same place.

Bornes walked on, following Jane as she took the lead, using her gentle tapping of pads on sand to lead him into his own thoughts of happier days. Days with him behind a scope and watching people in suits and teenagers in ripped clothes and saggy pants, going down without knowing there was even someone who wanted them gone.

Luckily enough for him, he managed to get out of his thoughts by the time Kaegan came into view, about five yards away. Bornes stopped, took a moment to frown and hope Kaegan didn't hear their arrival.

He leaned forward a bit to call the dog back, his mouth opening, but sound not coming out. He decided against it. Even if the Alpha thought his dog calls were from Jane, there was still a chance he looked this way.

He decided to simply turn to the right, toward where he believed town was, and continue walking in that direction. His speed was the same as when he was coming toward Kaegan. He knew if he changed his speed, it would draw more attention to himself, and he simply wanted to pass by without notice.

Jane sidled up to Kaegan, lying down back beside him as if she'd never left. He finally released his face, leaning his head back, eyes shut, taking in a long deep sigh.

Should Q have been watching he'd notice a woman- the first he'd have seen in the encampment- approaching Kaegan. She was on the taller side, 5'10, maybe nineteen years of age at maximum, bound with sinewy muscle. She was dressed in an olive wifebeater, pulled long over boxers and sagging basketball shorts. She more closely resembled a jock than a woman, really, feet clad in half calf high black converse that had seen better days. She had her hair cropped short, dark brown, brown eyes to match.

She knelt down beside Kaegan, resting a hand on his shoulder. "You can't keep doing this to yourself," she offered quietly.

Kaegan turned to her with a sigh, quirking a brow upward. "Give me some damn time, Lex," he hissed. "You can run things until I'm ready."

The newly christened Lex stood back to her full height, shaking her head back and forth. Clearly she wasn't a fan of the time-heals-all-wounds approach, but she wasn't about to talk back to her alpha. "Fine," she said with a grunt, folding her arms beneath her considerable bosom. "But I hope it won't be long."

Bornes, still walking toward 'town', heard someone else walk up to Kaegan but initially paid no heed. Until he heard her voice.

He looked over at Kaegan and the woman, who looked much too butch to even be called a woman, but there was no denying her curves. It took a few steps for him to finally stop walking, just to stare at her.

He'd heard other women around their little village, but he'd never seen them before. Almost as if they were the things of myths and legends, but here one was, talking with Kaegan. His thoughts went to dirty places much too quickly.

In a matter of fractions of seconds, Bornes had convinced himself that he only laid with Isiah out of desperation and sexual frustration, that this woman would fall for him in a heartbeat, and that his chances of their everlasting sexual relationship were strong.

He didn't even pay attention to what the woman said. It was just that she had said it. Isiah was lucky.
Isiah had men all around him. If Isiah wanted to have some sexual fantasy, he didn't have to make it up out of thin air. Every straight man, however, did, and Bornes' imagination wasn't that amazing. He'd let himself go cold turkey. And it had sucked.
And sucked.
Until he caved and was sucking Isiah.

But that wasn't the case any more. No it would not be.

He had half a mind to walk up to her right then and there, but Kaegan still made him a bit fearful.

He simply decided to stare silently and wait for her to walk off- if she ever did- then he'd stalk her like a lonesome wolf stalked its prey.

Figure out where she lived- get her alone.
He'd never force himself upon her, but what woman didn't love a french man?

As Bornes had hoped, Lex left Kaegan by himself, heading a few houses down from Kaegan's home. She lived alone, one of the lucky few with a military cot. She even had half of a salvaged weight set, her own five gallon water bottle- currently a quarter full, with one of Jiden's patented water filters- and a makeshift blanket made from random pieces of clothing found here and there. There was a hole in the wall of her home that served as a window and a piece of tarp hung over one side to function as a door.
