It's not dancing. Just beating the piss outta eachother. There was a woman at the Dir En Grey concert my sis and I that half her face was a sheen of blood. A pit formed right on the outskirts of where we were standing and Dad strained his shoulder and legs from bracing against it since there was enough room for people to get a running start.
A bunch of really big guys hurling themselves into eachother is not good for (at the time) a 16 and a 15 year old girl.
Yeah, Moshing's fun if you're a decent size not to get plowed. However, if you're not, stay the hell out.

"Moshing" is a term which describes long hairs listening to metal and trying to imitate punk rockers who "slam dance." Slam dancing was before moshing. Mosh is the dumbed down version. wink
|

Still, I cringe every time I hear the term "mosh" said as if it were a good thing. It's like someone exclaiming the greatness of hayseeds. Slam dancing is what punks do, anything less is imitation. razz
