Stunned, Christiana stared for a moment at Arjay's retreating back. Then once again acted on instinct, moving forward she reached out and grabbed hold of his hand once more.
"Just like that? That's it? You're leaving? You're not even going to go apologize to that poor woman are you?" Already knowing her answer, her own pale blue eyes lighted with anger.
"Fine then, first of all I suppose I should tell you that father isn't here at the moment." she told him frostily, her demeanor might as well been that of a queen resorting to speaking to a peasant.
"On an entirely different note, your apology for trying to hurt me is not accepted since I didn't hear one. And I don't appreciate being drug behind you like a child who misbehaved. Then treated like little more then a child with a push and an order, which I can tell you, I have no intention of following." she finished, her eyes cooling from her burst of temper to match the frosted edge in her voice.
"And when one if leaving...it is customary to say goodbye."

I paused in my stride, then counted to ten in my head and turned around. I couldn't get angry now..not with Hiratoshi already seething from being shut off so soon. If I hurt Lucid's daughter, he'd kill me. Striding back toward her, I ran through the list of things I wanted to do to her for yelling at me. It was short, consisting of backhanding her, carrying her into the castle myself, and taking her with me..by force if necessary. Upon reaching her, I stopped, my gaze burning into hers.
"Just like that, I'm leaving. No goodbye, no nothing, because I will eventually be back." I said quietly. "You will see your father long before I do, thus, tell him what I said anyway." I paused, glancing past her to where the doors were. "As for that woman, she seems to have gone inside, thus I cannot apologize to her."

Christiana felt her heart sink at his words, and what was starting to become a familiar ache start in the pit of her stomach. Eventually...he would be back..eventually. For some unexplainable reason the term made her angry all over again, though this time more of a heated anger, as it sparked and simmered in her eyes.
"Alright then, goodbye Arjay." she stated quietly, turning toward the cliffs. She paused for a moment, her thoughts racing. No dammit..if he was going to just walk away again she'd at least give herself something to remember. Twisting back around she closed the distance between them, and pressing her body against his, she lifted up and pressed her lips to his.

I put my arms around Crissy, holding her form against mine, meeting her kiss without resistance. For a moment, I wondered if this would be a mistake later, but only for a moment. I reveled in this kiss, knowing it would be my last for at least another century. I would miss her, yes. But I could not stay around people while I was so very weak of mind. The memory of what had happened to the last woman in my life was still too fresh. After a long moment, I withdrew from her slightly, lifting my hands to her face and cupping it.
"I will return to this place." I said. "I swear it to you. I just need time right now, to gather my strength and for your father to come up with a way to get rid of him." I motioned to the sword hanging from my hip, then retreated from her a step or two. "I am sorry that I tried to hurt you, Christiana."

Tears pooled in her eyes at his words, but she again bit her lower lip, refusing to let them fall. When his taste once again settled on her tongue she closed her eyes to fight down the wave of emotion that rose up to engulf her. This wasn't right...she barely knew him really. She shouldn't care this much what he chose to do with his life. And yet, reaching out, Crissy took his hand and opening her eyes met his gaze with her own.
"I don't want you to go." she answered her voice a mere whisper of sound. It was the first thought that formed in her mind and the whispered words escaped her involuntarily.

I took another deep breath, letting it out slowly. This time was for patience, and to fight the urge to drag her along with me to wherever the bloody sword took me. She couldn't follow me, though. Deep within my mind, I knew this. It didn't help, though, that she had said she didn't want me to go. Hearing that nearly made me change my mind.
"Look, Christiana, I can't stay here right now." I said, trying to sound reasonable. "And you cannot come with me. It'd be far too dangerous." Hiratoshi wouldn't tolerate her presence for very long. "I've given you my word that I will return, and I will. Please don't cry."

With one last look, Christiana slowly pulled her hand away from his, letting hers fall to her side. Forcing a smile she inclined her head.
"So you did...and I have every intention of holding you to it." her voice was was quiet...and the sadness she felt could be easily heard. Turning away, she once again moved toward the cliffs, not wanting to return to the walls of the Haven just yet. And it was only as she turned away that a tear slipped past and slid silently down her cheek.

I heaved another long sigh, then turned away. It was going to be a long century. Shifting my weight, I set off through the grass again, inhaling the wind. Perhaps I would return here again in a few years. Perhaps every few years. The need to be with Christiana was nearly overwhelming, and it almost bothered me. I'd never had such a need like this before. Tucking this new information to the back of my ind, I picked up speed, moving across the land in a blur.

Christiana lost track of how long she stood at the cliffs edge, watching the waves come again and again to pound relentlessly at the shore. And time after time the world withstood the beating, though each time it lost a very small piece of itself. She wondered why she felt as if a piece of herself had just been lost to her. Lifting her gaze she studied the star filled sky. It was always so clear here, and it always felt as if you could just reach up and pluck a star from the sky, they seemed so close. The night always seemed to her like someone had just grabbed a handful of silver dust and threw it down, letting it stay wherever it fell. The moon was so close to being full...only one more day. It's rays were bright and illuminating, moving over the surface of the water, flashing off the curve of waves, and yet for once she found no beauty in the scene...and no comfort. The void that had formed in her heart with the loss of her mother had lessened somewhat with the relationship she had built with her father. Now it increased, and once again she felt her mothers death keenly. Never in the past few months had she wished for her mothers presence or comfort more. This was a hurt her twin couldn't even help sooth, as he wouldn't even begin to understand it. And her father? She wasn't sure but it hadn't taken her long to find that her twin took after the man who sired them. Her fathers reaction would probably most likely be anger at his friend as well. Though as she sank to the ground and let the tears fall, she wished for her fathers presence...because there was always the possibility that maybe, just maybe...he might understand.

Lucid formulated just behind his daughter, kneeling to place a hand on her shoulder. He knew she was crying, but made no other move to comfort her. He knew to let the woman come to him.
"Want to talk about it?" he asked simply.

Startled to find her father suddenly behind her Crissy, felt a slight smile curve her lips as she turned her head to meet his gaze with her own.
"Just wishing for you is enough huh?" she asked quietly, tears continuing to burn her eyes and leave brilliant red trails down her face. Sighing, she turned and curled into her father. She knew she needed to stop crying. Such an act for a vampire was foolish and often regarded as stupidity, as well as a a weakness. Tears were linked to the humanity that many vampires were supposed to either have lessened through the turning process or just lost over the passage of time. She couldn't however seem to stem the flow.
"Maybe..." she answered to his question of talking about it.

"Sometimes wishing is all it takes, yes." Lucid said with a slight smile. "You must stop crying, little one. If you don't you might do yourself harm." He lifted his hand to her face, using his finger to wipe at the tears. Sighing, he sat upon the ground and cradled her as he would if she were still small. "Well, I am yours for a time, so if you wish to talk, you may."

Feeling the beginning of the effects of her tears, Christiana knew her father spoke the truth. Her tears solved nothing, and only caused her physical harm. Despite that she found it hard to calm the sobs, and force her body to relax a little. Drawing deep breath, she curled tightly against her father. After a few minutes she felt her body shudder once and then finally relax.
"I think I got it under control now." she whispered quietly. Tilting her head up she met her fathers gaze with her own, and searched her mind for the right words. She had no idea where to even begin to explain what she felt to him. Deciding it was best to try it the simplest way she could think of first, she reached for his hand, and searching her mind shared with him her memories of every moment she had ever spent with Arjay. From her first meeting of the vampire to the most recent scene.

Lucid took everything in silently, thinking over the whole ordeal carefully. For as long as he had know Arjay, he had never seen any sort of true emotion displayed. Yet somehow, his daughter had managed to bring that emotion out of the vampire. Understanding both sides of things, he held his daughter close and smiled.
"I wish you luck, little one." he said. "As long as he bears the burden of that sword, he will continue to come and go from your life. We must find a way to help him, before that sword tries to harm you further."

"I know. My mind however is blank. Old items generally possessed by a soul usually can't be destroyed, not by any of the usual means. The soul ties itself to th object but usually once a way is found to destroy that said object the bound soul simply breaks its ties and drifts until it can find a new host." she said more to herself than to her father. With a sigh of regret she looked up and gave her father a genuine smile.
"Here I thought you would be angry." she whispered.
