Rune Fuka

With our eyes wide open
We'll fight 'til we're broken
We rise and fall

Rune wasn't a fan of being completely defenseless, but the sensation of moving without moving was foreign. He tried to force himself to move otherwise, but that didn't happen. He kept making antlers. Rune decided to make this a learning experience. "Okay... How does an opponent get out of this?" No Nara could keep a ninja trapped forever, right? They would have to tire at some point. Any information on escaping this would come in handy in future time, the Fuka was sure of it. Whether it was one more fight with his teacher, or fighting the Hidden Leaf, he didn't wanna fail. "And how could you win if this was a real 1-on-1 fight? We copy each other's movements; if you throw something or use a jutsu, so do I."

Shikarama Nara, The Dedicated Genius

Shikarama Stretched for a moment, in the process, making Rune do the same. The boy began to ask him questions intent to learn more about this jutsu, and quite apparently, to find a way to defeat it. "Well, there are four main methods, two of which rely on the individual, and two of which rely on forces outside their control. For one trapped in it, there are only two choices. One must either break it, or one must break the user's focus. A sufficient distraction can break their hold on the jutsu, of course, this is rather difficult for someone bound as you are, so your only hope in yourself would be breaking the jutsu. The first means is through chakra control, similar to breaking genjutsu. Of course, rather then simply doing it against a force like simple genjutsu, you must match your control against the user of the technique, which can be rather more difficult. The other method is to just break the hold through pure physical power. I will say, in both cases, it would be difficult if not impossible for you to do at your current level, at least against any ninja above genin. So your best bet, when fighting a Nara, would be to prepare a trap or means to avoid their abilities. While using a shadow possession, a Nara is left vulnerable both while they are paralyzing an opponent or making them copy them, which leaves them open to outside attacks. Because of this, if one has a team mate, they can rely on them to break the hold. And in an extended fight, a nara can run low on chakra, which weakens their ability to use the possession and limits the time they can use it." Shikarama began moving again, his hand reaching into one of his tool pouches, looking for something.
"You make a point that while making an opponent mimic them, anything a Nara does to an opponent can sometimes be turned against them. But the answer to that is quite simple. One only needs to use the differences between them and their positions." Shkarama would grab a kunai, tossing it towards Rune. Provided he would do the same, each kunai would in fact land at each other's feet. Rune would notice, however, that the kunai near rune had an explosive tag set to it. "Aside from this, there are many other aspects to this. After all, you can't copy any jutsu I use even if you copy my hand seals. You don't know how much and what sort of chakra to manipulate. For instance, if I were to use a fire jutsu right now, you wouldn't be able to replicate it, as you have no experience with or knowledge in how to use the fire element." He then calmly released the jutsu, freeing the boy after this lecture.

Rune Fuka

With our eyes wide open
We'll fight 'til we're broken
We rise and fall

Rune was plotting as his teacher told him ways to break it. He quickly realized, however, that he wasn't going to have the strength for either method. He was fighting a Jounin, and that was a huge power difference. Rune wasn't very physically strong to begin with either. He'd have to wait for Shikarama to release him.

Rune grew a little anxious as his teacher reached into his pouch. While the Fuka was right about the tools, he saw that as he threw a kunai and his teacher did too, his kunai was regular and his teacher's had an explosive tag. Rune tried to lift his arms and block his face or step back or anything, but the shadow held him. He cursed it mentally and tried to mentally will the kunai away. He wasn't telekinetic and therefore nothing happened, much to his dismay. Yet, Shikarama released him and the Fuka forced chakra to his feet to escape. A few seconds passed and he realized the tag hadn't gone off. He looked at it warily, unsure if it could be set off from far away instead of at a certain time. "Is this the end of the lesson?" Rune asked, feeling just a little tired. He immediately felt bad after asking. Shikarama was spending his own time to do this, something he really doesn't need to do. Also, his teacher had already learned a lot of jutsu and would eventually let Rune leave to villages on his own to learn some. He asked another question to make up for any rudeness. "Have you ever lost a fight?" The Fuka didn't realize his question was probably worse than the last until the words were out of his mouth.

Shikarama Nara, The Dedicated Genius

Shikarama walked to Rune, picking up the kunai, smiling at Rune with a nod. "We can rest now. You've been working hard and making amazing progress." Patting Rune on the head, he moved to sit down by a nearby tree, looking to his student. He tossed Rune his own Kunai, before leaning back to think over his past. The question of fights was an interesting question indeed. Shikarama, in thinking over it all, would sigh and nod. "I have lost, yes. I remember as a kid, I took my first chunin exams. I didn't do nearly as well as I hoped. To be fair I was up against a person with a dragon. None the less, I failed to make chunin." Sighing lightly looked to Rune. "However, I soon got much stronger after, and found some amazing friends afterwards, who took the chunin and the jounin exam alongside me. Several of them may become much stronger then I ever will be." He smiled lightly to the kid as he said this.

We'll fight 'til we're broken

Rune sighed in relief at the agreement for a break. All this traveling and chakra usage was making him really exhausted. He perked up at the phrase chuunin exams. He'd have to take those some day. Hopefully soon, but when he was ready. "A dragon?" He asked, totally amazed. "I didn't know they were still around..." Rune quieted himself and listed to his teacher speak. He smiled warmly at his teacher as he mentioned friends. Rune could only dream that he would have some great friends himself. A rival, even. He could have friends to talk about warmly like his teacher. Maybe that was what he was missing. Friends. "Do you think I'll meet one of your friends any time soon?" Rune didn't ask the question he really wanted to. Do you think I'll make any myself? His home village felt very empty, and he hadn't met a single genin at the academy or anywhere else. His life's been... lonely.

Rune chose this moment to decide to become the strongest in his village. The Kage, even. Strong enough to protect his village. He would have plenty of allies and friends and comrades and he would protect all of them. He'd prevent anyone in his village from feeling alone, too. If he didn't give up, it could happen.

Shikarama Nara, The Dedicated Genius

Shikarama nodded to the boy's amazement. He was glad to see he made an impression on his first student. "I was surprised to find someone who not only had one, but had tamed them and could share a body with them, in a way almost reminiscent of a tailed beast and its host. Not nearly as powerful, mind you. None the less, the thing was neigh impervious to any of my offensive abilities at the time. I managed to capture them with my shadow possession, but hardly could hold them for longer than a minute. Thankfully defeating it wasn't the goal. Unfortunately, it was a race, basically, and they were still much faster than I was. It was bad enough to be fighting under rather cold conditions, but we had to beat one another on a path along a frozen river, set with all kinds of dangerous creatures along the way. It was a fight for survival like that which made me realize that I had to get much stronger than I was." He looked to Rune now, who seemed deep in thought. The Nara would ask what was on the boys mind, however, the Fuka asked a question of his own first. He wanted to know if they would run into any of Shikarama's friends. The Nara smirked at the boy. "It seems inevitable. We were just in the vilalge where one of them is the kage, after all. Where he is at the moment, I am not sure. One would think he would remain there to help with the rebuilding process. But I can only imagine what business someone of his status has to deal with, and at such a young age, too!" Little did Shikarama know, Adell had been away from the village, traveling in an attempt to gain greater strength, in order to uphold his role as Mizukage. Shikarama himself admitted he did have some ambition, maybe enough to become a kage of the leaf one day. His eyes galnced to the boy curiously as he seemed to go from a depressed state, to one where his eyes showed a familiar determination. "So, is there anything else you seek to learn from this village. I have a few ideas about a place we may head next. As you've said, you seem to be lacking in taijutsu at the moment. Perhaps we can find something to give you an edge when faced with close combat situations." What might consider this a pun if they knew where he intended to head.

Rune almost didn't believe his teacher. Someone taming a dragon? That was downright impossible. However, Shikarama had never lied before. Rune owed him benefit of the doubt at the very least. And then tales of a race. Were there races in the exam? He'd have to work on his own speed, just in case. Then, Shikarama talked about his friend, a kage. Rune could imagine meeting some kid that seemed ordinary at the exams, only to become a kage later on. "I hope he isn't gone long." It was a little sad to hear that his teacher's friend wasn't at the village. Hopefully, he wouldn't be gone for too long. His village could be in even worse a state by then. Rune' teacher then mentioned taijutsu. "I definitely need to learn some. I'm done here, if you're ready to go... where is it?" Rune hoped his teacher would reveal the village instead of a surprise.

Shikarama smirked at the boy's disbelief. After resting for a bit, he would stand up, answering Rune's question. "Well, I intend to take you to hidden Katana. there, you'll be able to get a sword of your very own, and learn how to make it. At that, you will be able to learn kenjutsu. What do you say to that?" He asked the Rune. He would begin leading the Fuka from the training grounds, intent to take him to the gates and away. (exit)

Rune eyed his teacher. Hidden Katana for kenjutsu? Wait a sec- did he make a pun? There was no way Shikarama was trying to be funny. Rune could out-pun him, right? He could certainly try, at least. "I guess I should learn how to handle a sword..." Rune followed his teacher, trying to think up sword-related jokes. [exit]

As he sat, the sounds of the serene water continuously crashed on the rocks below; using it as a catalyst to his meditation. And deep inside of his focus, he could hear the faint, yet loud echoes deep inside of his core, tapping at his concentration; each knock as if it was a reinforced door with early century hinges.

"The realms aren't balanced anymore."

"You did what was needed." It was his voice but from another viewpoint. They were bracing the doors with their bodies.

"They're all gone. I know the only way back...but I..."

"We've stopped that long ago."

The force of the door opening suddenly became more violent, only to be met with any opposing force; which only seemed to get stronger. However on the surface he looked in control. His posture never budged from the internal conflict that should have been exchanged with serenity. And then a crack formed in his shield; many times after his arrival.

His eyes flashed open as if he was pumped with adrenaline. His focus was wiped like a napkin cleaning kitchen germs. With a look over his shoulder, it was as if he felt thousands of lives suddenly become lost. Despair leaked as he massaged a temple of his forehead. He turned as if he was face to face with the tragedy. His equipment only needed a quick glance before a voice that soothed his demeanor told him "Lunch time Malib!"

The distance was stared for a few more moments before Malib descended back to the forest grounds; birds suddenly going with a different tune. He placed his hands behind his head and walked back to her house. "On my way."
